Thank you, natty, for last week's thread.

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up!
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

  • Thanks Valli I am in. Nice weekend, not keen on the idea of work tomorrow but never mind. Time for sleep!
  • Thanks for lists. I'm in. Will really try to stick to lists on the right day, and get a bit more organised.
Not done a huge amount today - went to church (was reading plus refreshments having done cleaning and flowers yesterday; think I must have caught up on the rota).
    Did more washing.
More gardening. Was weeding the squash bed I cleared yesterday and hoping to sow a few last seeds for winter when I came across some feathers. Yuk I thought. Then it moved. Turned out to be 2 very young (pre-fledgling) wood pigeons huddled behind a couple of flower pots. They must have fallen out of the nest in the storms. Put them back in and when I checked later, the mum had returned.
I seem to tire quite quickly; I managed to get both a cold and a stomach bug on holiday which was disappointing, and I'm still coughing a lot. Still, a bit of routine and focus will keep me going.

Hugs to CY and I hope the treatment helps you feel some improvement.

Well done to all of you starting new jobs or courses.

My main addition to the list tomorrow is to finish going through all emails I've marked as "to do", which range from paying bills, reading solar meter, sorting out assessment paperwork and goodness knows what else. Here's to an efficient week.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Thanks Valli and also natty for last week.

I don't think I'll be around till later in the week - just spent 4hrs in A&E with DS, after nearly 3hrs at minor injuries. Only to be sent home as they've no theatre slots until tomorrow. It's *only* a broken and dislocated thumb but he's too little for it being fixed under local so he's having it done under general anaesthetic :(

They are going to call us in the morning with a time to go in. So the poor little mite was starving (told no food until he's been seen) so he's had literally a midnight snack and been put in my bed - as he can't climb up his bed ladder with one hand :o

On the plus side, he's not grumbled at all. He's been a little gem. Thankfully my dad took DD and put her to bed and stayed with her till we got back.

So, we'll be back whenever we're back, IYSWIM.

Fingers crossed CYs treatment tomorrow helps xxx

  • Thanks Valli for this weeks thread and to Natti for last weeks.

Fingers crossed for CY's treatment. Hope your sister's chemo is going well too Valli

    Hugs for young master Bossy

No paid work till Thursday so hoping to get on with lists this week amongst car service/mot(needs a new rear wiper and exhaust 1st) and other items off Toots list(sigh) now I feel overwhelmed. Oh well "head down and batter on". Did Toots used to say that? Someone did - can't remember who.

Kitchen is a complete tipsh1t this morning. Can't believe I left it like that after dinner. Fell asleep in front of antiques roadshow....

Thanks for the lists Valli and natty, I'm in this week.
Hugs good wishes and positive vibes to all who need them. Sticks and spoons on stand by so help yourselves to them.

Thinking of CY and hope treatment today goes well
Hugs for master bossy, I hope thumb gets sorted ASAP so he can get some breakfast.
Welcome to the new and returning flyers.

Need to text 'my' teacher to say planned volunteing won't start now till next week which on upside means I'm flying today.
Email first thing to let me know wardrobe expansion pack is being delivered today, so we can get that finished tonight.
Mils birthday this week so dd3 will pop round later with some cakes for her to take to her bowling/age concern dinner group.
Wm repair man is coming on Friday but I can still use it till then.
Got some birthday cards to post and some family phone calls to make but other than that just want to clear the ironing pile and keep up with flying.

    Have a good day all.

    Thanks Valli!

Bossy - hugs for your DS

Had a fun afternoon with DD out on the Wirral yesterday catching p0kemon. We left here at 2pm and didn't get back until gone 8pm! We were absolutely worn out but we both slept well so were able to get up at 6am this morning with no problem :D I just don't think walking 10 miles every day is the solution to us sleeping right the way through :rotfl:

I'm in this week. Its a bitty work week for me, with the largest amount on Thursday. DD is off Thursday afternoon, but has asked if she can go poke hunting with her friends. Not decided yet as she's off again on Friday when we have the dentists at 9am and she needs to come with me for some shopping. I've told her it depends on her behaviour.

Not even done the dailies yet today, but I've put the recycling out, emptied the bins, poo picked, prepared some of DD's lunch for her as she was running late and realised my legs/back might not want to co-operate with what I'd like to do today after yesterday :rotfl:

    Personal:
Do job on comp for DD
    Pay bills / update finances
    Grocery shop
    Card to Dsis
Cook a "proper" meal for tea along with some baking (legs & back ache permitting)
Clear a folder of papers which need scanning/shredding
    Delivery tonight
    Laundry
    Wash sofa cover
Depong the livingroom - au de pooch is strong again and I'm not sure why
HH admin on computer clearing bookmarked stuff.

    - My daughter is away for Christmas this year as its her dads turn to have her so I've not got a clue what's happening yet lol I'm tempted to have a really lazy day like I did last time.

Right, I'm going to do a job for DD on the computer while I have another cup of coffee then I'll get stuck in.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
