LW - our posts crossed.
It has definitely been the right thing getting a new companion for LittleyDog. Right now they are playing together. They sleep in the same room, albeit Poppet is in a crate right now, but not a peep from either of them all night. The only contentious issue has been food; they have to be fed in separate rooms with the doors closed. And LittleyDog knows that should she need a break from the lively puppy she can always jump up on the settee as Poppet can't manage that yet.
Really pleased I made the decision I did.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
That's wonderful, Jazee. And it's not uncommon for two companion dogs to need to be fed apart.
Bailey and Cassie have to be, as Bailey's a slow eater, and Cassie began her life as a stray on the streets in Ireland, so would have got food as and when she could. I feed Bailey in the kitchen, and Cassie eats at the other end of the hall, with her plate on an upturned box (she has it on the bottom stair at home, but we have no stairs).
Also Charlie and Harvey; I give Charlie his food in the kitchen, pick up Harvey's dish from the worktop, say "With me, Harvey" and he follows me into the lounge, to eat without Charlie bullying him off his food.
With Candy and Cameron, they both ate in the kitchen, and I just stood between them ready to run interference, as it was a 50/50 chance who would finish first and make an attempt on the other's dish. Bless them, they both crossed Rainbow Bridge quite a while ago.
Mr LW is back from his trip to the tip, so I think it's an expedition to @ldi next.

Thanks LW I'm out for about 4hrs but only once a week - I'm home a lot since redundancy and luckily we can manage while I'm studying without me working out of the home for the next couple of years.
The children are both keen on having a pet - DD loves anything furry. DS isn't sure - he's a little nervous of dogs thanks to being knocked off his feet by an off-leash one in a park when he was 3. But he's also said he would like his own dog and I'm sure the confidence would return. He didn't want a Guinea pig as they "have scratchy toes" lol.
Bottom line is, I would be responsible for it, so it needs to be something that works for me, too. I much prefer dogs. Ideally a cross-breed rescue dog, but young enough to grow with the children.
Much to think about. I'll not be rushing into anything.
Had quite a lazy morning here, we are still not dressed! But have done a wash, set DW going, organised a few things for this week and started some kids homework. Still need to do mine... Will make a start after a shower!Bossymoo

Thanks LW for putting my mind to rest over the feeding, mine are the Charlie and Harvey combo with Poppet being Charlie! I've not had this problem with any of my dogs before.
I have been for a quick bike ride, chatted a while with DS (who I should have been seeing today, but plans changed) and now having lunch.
Next is another walk for LittleyDog after washing the lunch dishes and then bath time for them, Poppet's first proper bath.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Aaarghhh
The cat has just upchucked in the living room.
The perfect end to a VERY stressful day
(((hugs))) I hope the weekend has treated both you and your sister kindly.YORKSHIRELASS wrote: »Ooh and on the flying front have chucked all the dog bedding in the washing. Doggie is sitting in his empty basket in my office. Why doesnt he go on the sofa?
I'm not a parent but 15 seems very young to be given ad lib alcohol in someone else's house. Well done for bringing your DSs up so well that he was sensible enough to call for a lift home, and the older one for being a great big brother when needed. As to dogbeds, I washed Kelpie's three fleeces from downstairs and each time I put the dry one back in place he climbed straight on to it immediately. I think he was trying to nail them back in place.
Poppet sounds like a wonderful little addition to the household, Jazee.
Bossy, as you've had a dog before you know all of the pros and cons. All I'd add is that the first few weeks of a rescue dog are the most taxing and as each one is different it's always a bit tough. However, you already know they're worth every second of the time it takes to settle them. Good luck with it when you decide the time is right.
We've been to a lovely, lovely wedding, the simplest I've ever been to, very unfashionably low key simple and joyous. Fab.
Flying - zilch. Bad Honey Bear. Peacefully, happily tired Honey Bear though, curled up on the sofa watching pre-recorded films with OH. Lovely.Better is good enough.0 -
Aww, enjoy your sofa time HB X
Kiddies in bed, DS confessed he was worried about school as he didn't know the song for the 3x table. Bless him, asked why he didn't tell me before, he didn't know. I promised I'd help, we did it once together and I told him he'd be a master of 3x and 4x by the end of the week, and not to worry. I wonder if he missed something when he was off those couple of days with "thumb-gate". Bless. I don't remember doing times tables till middle school so at least age 9
Anyhoo, kitchen tidied after a very poor suppercereal and sandwiches. Thank goodness we have a shop coming tomorrow... Ironed school shirts, made packed lunch and generally picked stuff up.
Kiddies bathed and listened / read to. Will get bags together, DD need pe kit I'm sure...
I will potter for a while then watch Victoria in bed <yawn>Bossymoo
