Which is considered best, PS3 or Xbox 360??

I'd go for the 360 every time...I was a sony fanboy for years (mainly, like the OP, for pro evo)...but the 360 really is the best console I've owned...I love the games, I *love* achievement points, I think that xbox live is a major selling point - the integration with MSN messenger...It's just a really well put together, capable system.
I'll say straight up that I've never had too much to do with the PS3 - there aren't many games that interest me thusfar...and 90% of the ones that do interest me are on the 360 too. There's a much better back-cat of games on the 360, more variety...and there's rumble!!0 -

My brother got his a couple of weeks ago with extra controller, 2 games and 2 bluray films for £375 (Woolworths)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

That's the main problem my brother has with it, the lack of games but he's still glad he got it rather than the xbox. According to him they're starting to bring out some good games within the next couple of weeks onwards.
I guess the people with the best opinion are those who actually own both the PS3 and Xbox360 (and there won't be many of those) because otherwise you're not going to be able to make a fair comparison. I've had a go of the PS3 and think it's brilliant but without even trying an xbox360 never mind living with one I have no basis for comparison."She is quite the oddball. Struggling to see any PS3 exclusives to be bothered about in the coming months...and if I were to be playing the same games on either console, I'd rather the 360 - comparisons generally say that the 360 looks *marginally* prettier...(despite the PS3'spower advantage )...and you get rumble!
If/when there's a stronger lineup of PS3 exclusives, the value of that console will start increasing...0 -

Well obviously I'm only handing out secondhand knowledge. I haven't owned a console since my Mega Drive (:D ). So obviously I haven't checked on game availability myself. I'm quite happy with PC games and putting money towards upgrading my PC hardware.
Although if I was to get a console, I'm personally swayed towards either Xbox360 or Wii (or both, before I'd get a PS3).

I used to be an avid PC gamer...but since I got the 360, I've not touched the PC (which is good, I get *way* too addicted to CS:S
)....The idea of playing games and *not earning achievement points* just seems such a waste of time

Ok maybe I can get an experienced view, did you quickly get used to changing to joypad from a mouse+keyboard interface? I find it hard to imagine playing games without a mouse now."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It's a bit of an adjustment and it's always gonna be harder to aim using the pad, but everyone's at an equal disadvantage and most games are adjusted for the harder difficulty...plus, some games (bioshock most notably) have pretty good "aim assistance" stuff to help you with the hard stuff...
(the hard parts aren't aiming for people's heads, etc...that's easy...it's when you're up close and personal and people are running all over the place...tracking people's much harder on the pad...)
I thought I'd hate it, but in the end it doesn't make much difference...you have much more important things to worry about (RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!) than how you're actually controlling the guy.
(and, of course, you get rumble through the pad...which makes getting shot that much more interesting...)
It works both ways, too...Yes, keyboard and mouse is better for FPS, but footy games etc the pad's much better for, it's much better for beat-em-ups, much better for driving games, I prefer it for 3rd person games too....so it's only the FPS you really feel like you could do better with a keyboard and mouse...0 -
To me this is an EASY choice.
I've got a 360 and I love it. The games are great. The support is out there for it. The games are rolling in for it.
I've played on my brothers PS3 (he also has a 360) and I don't like it. The motion sensitive controller feels really light and cheap. The motion sensing feels like it was added as an afterthought. The games I've played on it (admittedly nice graphically) have been crap, half assed attempts at gaming.
The online side of it is awful in my opinion, the downloadable content is virtually useless. I think the graphical quality of the 360 is better than the PS3 in general although you have to remember that developers have had time to get the most from the 360's graphics chip and they are still learning and experimenting with the PS3's.
Some people will argue that High Def movies can't be played on the 360 but if you consider that the PS3 will cost you £400 for the Premium version with 60GB hard drive and support for BlueRay discs. The 360 Elite comes with a 120GB hard drive and for £100 more you can buy the add-on external HD-DVD drive bringing you up to the same price as the PS3.
The reliability problems with the 360 and the now infamous "Red Ring of Death" problems were largely due to cooling issues on the graphics processor (GPU) and problems with the motherboard. Both of these have been improved with the GPU getting a bigger heatsink to solve the heat issue (and a by product of this is it runs quieter now too).
Bearing in mind that my brother has both consoles he barely touches the PS3 and regrets buying it. He reckons he'd pick the 360 any day.
Another big advantage with the 360 is that it's now been out long enough for "budget" releases of big titles to be around. You can pick up popular games like Lego Star Wars and Just Cause for around £10 from some web stores. I picked up a copy of Guitar Hero 2 for just £50 a few weeks ago.
The thing with consoles is you'll find one person with a pile of good points about one console and loads of negatives about an other. Then someone else will come along with an equally convincing opposite stance. A lot is down to personal preference. I've never been a Microsoft fan to any great degree but I loved my PS2... now though I wouldn't touch the Sony monster with a barge pole and sometimes I catch myself looking at my Microsoft beauty with an admiration that sometimes strikes me as slightly worrying.
Final summary... personal opinion. Go with your gut.
P.S.has to be sony more reliable , xbox is a pile of s...
I'd also ignore posts like that if I was you... about MS or Sony. It's trendy to hate Microsoft don't you know.

Yes it will and it will still look pretty good (I'm using a 24"CRT myself while I try to pursuade the other half that we need to get an LCD to save the planet - power consumption etc.)
I don't know about the PS3 but I have a 360 with a VGM cable plugged into an old CRT computer monitor. HD?...looks like it, and you can pick them up for £0.00-£15.00. You 'll need a sound system though0
