it depends on your criteria (and priority of that criteria)
Otherwise it's far too subjective to get a sensible answer and you just end up with arguments. PS3 is best under certain requirements, XBox360 is best under others and Wii is best under another set of requirements. Each answer is equally valid but you need to set the parameters of the question:
Hardware
Value
Games
Graphics
Innovation
Playibility
HD
Cost (not the same as value)
Age of audience
etc
etc
Each one of the above example criteria will probably give a different answer so I say you need to ask "Which is the best console which meets the following requirements...?"
I can't include the Wii because it has nothing to offer me, I've looked at the games and none of them are of any interest to me.0 -
has to be sony more reliable , xbox is a pile of s...e0

Well you've now specified a certain criterion but there was up until then nothing to stop the Wii or anything else being brought into the question. But it still stands that there is no "best" out of the PS3 or Xbox 360. One is better than the other depending on which aspect you're looking at and some of those will be of personal taste, such as your preference for games."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Did you read anything after my original post?? I said that the main game I want to play is Pro Evolution Soccer, which isn't even coming out on the Wii!!0 -

Yes, so far there have been no hardware faults of note reported with the PS3 but it is still well overpriced for what you get. The motion sensing in the controller is just a gimmick tacked on at the end of development as an "us too!" response to the Wiimote and the addition of the BluRay drive is merely an attempt to trojan horse the BluRay standard into the marketplace.
Yes, you risk the red ring of death with the 360, but at least you know that it is still going to be around this time next year, something I fear can't be said about the PS3.0 -

I don't necessarily agree with your views (I'm still a fence sitter) but at least you make a good point and back up your views with great reasons which is in contrast to gardner1's post. Console reliability is far too early to compare when the PS3 is still too new to know of any long term statistics."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

i was tempted ot not reply further but cant help it
yes the 360 has had issues(ps is proven more reliable) however the warrenty goes some way to improving it and the new motherboard/chip combo coming into production should solve the overheating issues so put that aside.
(i have a 2 year old 360 with no issues BTW)
end of the day pay your money take your choice.
go fro the games 1st,HD players are getting cheaper so look at it as an added feature of a console not a reason to buy.
theres the price difference(yes the 360 is a bit noisier but again newer ones are quieter0 -
i have had 4 360's and all had died (red ring of death). I paid £27 for 3 years insurance so i was able to get a new one each time from Game. I recently bought the 360 elite and find it to be much quieter. A friend of mine has a PS3 which i find to be pretty good, you can browse the internet on it and you dont have to pay a subscription to play online, it has blu-ray playback and because of this the games made for the PS3 are better as there can be more information/game play put on a blu-ray disc than a dvd disc.
The only other major thing i can think of is that PS3 games are not region specific and you can play a PS3 game on your console from america or japan. The 360 is region specific and so this limits you to buying games made for europe and austrialia.
Talking about price, both consoles are pretty much the same. 360 elite with two new games costs £299 and the PS£ can be picked up for £319 with one game.0 -
