  • I also watched IAWL and loved it. I've always seen bits of it but I watched from beginning to end and it was such a treat. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I hope the JL vouchers turn up :)

    Hope you’ve had a good Christmas 🎄🎅🏻⛄️
Yes hope the JL vouchers arrive. I sent quite a few cards out with some small amounts cash in for presents....I know at least 1 hasn’t arrived yet and I posted them on 15th. That’ll teach me as I know they should have been registered 😡

  • Thank you everyone😀❤️

I had a lovely if very slightly eventful Christmas, i.e.

    - DSis dropped a large serving dish on big toe whilst dishing up lunch;
    - Her OH hit and cut head on the corner of the open oven door whilst helping clear up mess (much swearing from both!)
    - Little nephew had a meltdown when new electric scooter ran away with him and he bashed into a tree!

After that I felt like hiding away in case I was next!🤣

But - they're all ok and we all had a good time apart from above!

I'm back home now and have spent the afternoon catching up on the Christmas episode of Chateau and watching 'Kiss Me Kate!

Among my presents from DSis and family I have a ticket in June to go and see 'Burn the Floor' which is starring Strictly's Kevin. DSis is going too as she said it will be good to have something to look forward and hopefully theatres will be back to some normality by then. I can only agree with her - it will be nice to put at least something in the 2021 calendar as well as my postponed Aussie Floyd concert in November!😀

I was paid last Friday though actually sorted out the monthly YNAB pots yesterday and put some cash over to the workplace pension.  The pension, Stocks and Shares ISA, property and gold have all gone up this month which is good. I'm going to have to find a new home for my savings in the NS&I bond, but looking around at the rest of easy access rates, it hardly seems worth it.

I've also received my refund voucher from easyJet for my cancelled trip to Scotland. I was looking at booking again in February but will wait and see how lockdown restrictions go as we could still be in for a bit a long haul waiting until most have been vaccinated.

I hope everyone out there in diaryland had a lovely Christmas!☃️🎄🎁🍾

Glad you had a lovely (if eventful time), The tickets sound fab so hope you can go. You can go away once things start to look up, fingers crossed for that 🤞

Seasidegal58 have you seen Burn the Floor before? I saw it some years ago with the Cliftons, Karen Hauer, Aliaz and Janette in it, it was really good and a lovely way to spend a Monday evening in London when I was staying over on a business trip. Hopefully the present line up and show will be just as good.

Sadly I think Scotland will still be in tier 4 come Feb/March.

  • Thanks guys - beanie I have a feeling you might be right about Scotland and the tiers - let's hope this awful virus is under control soon. ☹️
@Tigger - I haven't seen Burn the Floor before. I love Strictly and watching dance so it's a great present for me. I did see Aliaz and Jeanette a couple of years ago in their own show and really enjoyed that. 😀

  • Glad your Christmas went well despite the mass injuries!
Nice to see someone making plans for 2021. As you say it will get back to normal(ish) at some stage.

  • Thanks DIA. 🤞

i'm sorry to hear this afternoon that a large proportion of England has moved up a tier - quite a few of my MSE friends into Tier 4. My own county's health service has declared a 'major incident' to the Government in that our hospitals officially cannot cope.😞 I fervently hope the vaccine will get us back to normal. I spoke to my boss today and he said his nephew's wife works for the NHS and is busy interviewing people who will be carrying out the vaccinations.

No snow here unlike other parts of the country. It's been cloudy but quite mild.  I've pottered the last couple of days. I've been out for a walk each day but I'm leaving the housework till Friday. I've just tidied up after myself, swished and swiped the bathroom and put on a couple of loads of washing.  I never got round to my yearly November 31 day clear out and deep clean of the flat as I really wasn't in the mood for it this year, but I'm going to start it on Friday - new year, new clean start.

I've ordered flowers for DSis and family to say thank you for a lovely Christmas. I ordered through Topcashback so was able to earn 25% cashback.  I also cashed out £4.94 that I had in my account. In addition I received £10 closing refund from Ovo.

Other spends was bread and fruit from our little Tesco yesterday - they were well stocked. Quite a few people about for a walk and buying coffees and drinks as takeaways.

Today I went to the Post Office to buy some birthday cards and brown parcel paper to send DD's calendar to her.

The good news today was that the John Lewis vouchers that my boss sent me for Christmas finally arrived!  He posted them first class on 17th December!  I think the second post over Christmas ended up a lot faster.😁
