Have a safe journey back - did you get out on your trip today?Interesting about the fruit. I eat loads of fruit maybe where I’m going wrong.....I’ll try cutting down on processed sugars first and then re assess as I can’t imagine life without my fruit.

I really can’t remember if I have delurked on here before or not! but I love this diary, and have read right through from beginning. Just wanted to comment on the fast 800 diet. Fruit is one of my fav foods, really can eat so much a day. however, I have lost a stone over lockdown on the fast 800, following it carefully. down to my fighting weight that haven’t been for 35 years, want to lose another 3 lbs, but very happy where I am. however, it did mean cutting back on fruit. i am trying to eat blueberries and strawberries, and have a small portion with greek yoghurt. what I have stopped is grazing fruit all day long. it really does make a difference. one way to combat the spike in blood sugar is to eat fruit with some protein, so if I have had an apple, I have a few almonds or something with it. it has made me more mindful of what and when I eat. After watching my weight since about age of 23 - and reading and studying nutrition since age 11, I am a real devotee of this diet....it works and after first few days I have not been hungry and the recipes are fab. my DH was losing weight and couldn’t understand why as he kept saying we were eating so well. I was giving him additional carbs with his food, but still measured - maddeningly he lost weight easier and faster than I did, but I did it😀😀. Now I have lost what I want, I intend to eat more fruit but in need a more controlled way. i think with bananas - which I also love - trick is to have a few slices with something else, including protein, to offset the spike in blood sugars.2

Thanks all!😀
@savingmore - thank you - your post is really informative - I'm pleased to read that you've found an eating plan that has been successful for you and your OH.I've been mulling over what to do re my weight whilst I've been away. It has become painfully clear that I need to take control and stop faffing about. Compared to when I was last in Scotland at the New Year I've found it a lot harder when going on my walks and my knees are beginning to play up, which they've never done before. I've been living on borrowed time I think health wise and so I've decided to hit the radical route. After reading Michael Moseley's books and watching his latest series, plus reading Dr Roy Taylor's diabetes book, I'm going to have a month on a 800 calorie day diet which will consist of three diet shakes per day at 200 calories each plus a non-starchy vegetable meal totalling 200 calories. I've ordered a month's supply of vegan shakes from the ' Fast 800' website and yesterday morning managed to buy a tub of vegan meal replacement shake powder from the health shop to use until the other shakes arrive. The veggie meal plus drinking 2-3 litres of water per day helps prevent constipation and I'm also going to practise time restricted eating of a 12 hour window - I'm not eating before 9am or after 9pm.I've also ordered some ketone sticks to test my urine daily to see if my body has switched to ketosis mode - basically confirming that your body has flicked the switch from burning sugar to burning fat. This is good for those with type 2 diabetes and those classed as pre-diabetic as the dangerous fat stored in your liver and pancreas will begin to burn away. I haven't got either of these conditions but I am storing a lot of dangerous fat around my middle - so could be on the way to being pre-diabetic.Accordingly, I'm going to try this quick fire method until I shift 2 1/2 stone and then reappraise going forward.
Yesterday went well - my stomach felt a bit gurgly in the afternoon but I didn't feel ravenous. For my veg meal I had two packets of frozen green veg from Iceland that I had in the freezer, sprinkled with some soy sauce. Apparently the first three days are the worst and then hopefully your body gets used to it.OTHER THINGS......
I got back from Scotland on Friday - not a good journey - a delay at the airport and then stuck in traffic on the M25 for nearly two hours due to an accident. Sat there thinking I wished I could have stayed in the Highlands for another week and that I didn't have to start work again on Monday!☹️Yesterday I got my nails done and started the washing pile.Unbudgeted spends were the shakes (although the cost will be offset against the fact that I won't be buying any food apart from some veg!) and the ketone sticks. I've also ordered DD and OH some bamboo bedding (the dark grey which is lovely) - they wouldn't let me pay for anything whilst I was with them so it's a thank you for a lovely break.Today I'm out for a walk later and also pick up my veg for the week. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

The journey from Scotland sounds horrendous. I spoke to my neighbour who travelled back from Cornwall yesterday and she encountered a horrendous journey too. I think all the folk holidaying here are making a big difference to journeys 😱
You are braver than me SSG - I couldn’t do a shake diet nor could I do 800 calories. What I am doing is loosely following the SW plan but not grazing on fruit as I was doing. I’m trying to only have starchy carbs with 1 meal, upping protein and veg and having my fruit after a meal. Ive cut out processed sugars as much as I can.....virtually completely. I’ve found this quite satisfying and not felt the need to snack. I lost 3 1/2lb this week so I’ll carry on but if I stop getting results might resort to the 800 calories as like you I’m suffering with my joints and carrying extra lbs isn’t helping. I don’t like this getting older lark a🤪😂January spends - £587.583 -

Good luck with the new diet regime, hope it's successful for you. It's all about what works for you, all diets work as long as you stick to them, it's finding the right one. I'm happy with WW, been at goal or thereabouts for 18 years but tried all sorts of things before unsuccessfully.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Thank you all. 😀So the new diet is continuing. The Fast 800 shakes arrived yesterday morning along with the ketone sticks. I've ordered vanilla, strawberry and chocolate shakes so I can have a variety. They're not bad - a bit grainy if you don't mix them well but this might be because they are the vegan version. Still drinking plenty of water and made a vegetable curry on Sunday which I've portioned out for four days as my aid to stop constipation!! I quite look forward to it each evening as it's my only proper 'food' meal, even though it's only a small portion!☹️I used the ketone sticks this morning - nothing's happened but you have to wait a few days before you start to burn fat properly. So let's hope I can stick with this regime!🤞
OTHER THINGS
Work started again yesterday - boo. ☹️ I spent the morning going through 183 emails and getting myself up to date. The firm have confirmed again that no-one has to go back to the office unless they want to and will be reviewing periodically.NSDs yesterday and today - I did get £16 worth of loyalty vouchers from M&S plus some vouchers worth £10 for food and clothing/home from the Premiere Club plus some discount vouchers as well. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Well done getting M&S vouchers,
I admire you having the shakes. Hope it pays off for you....I can’t see it not doing.
