Some good options there. Is there a reason why you’re thinking about a bigger flat?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks everyone - at least nothing has to be decided upon for a while yet.The sun came out this afternoon and it was really warm. DD finished what she was working on and we went for a nice walk to the end of their one-track road which ends on a headland looking over the sea with a lovely shingle beach below. A small herd of cattle was lying down on the grass near the shingle and we walked along the cliff for a bit with just some sheep for company - it felt very peaceful. It's still light up here as I'm writing this although we have a sunset - I'll certainly notice the darker evenings when I go back south! And it's been a NSD too!😀Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

A recent book I’ve read was set in the Highlands and it mentioned the light nights. I suppose it’s because it’s nearer to Scandinavia and the land of the midnight sun. Jenny Colgan’s Endless Beach is the book, can recommend for a nice light read.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

The problem is that when you retire there are times when you are in your home 24/7. I have found I need more elbow room than I did when I was working. It is one reason why I worry when people say they are going to downsize when they retire.

Thanks for the tip SA - I'll look into it. 👍
I think you're right badmemory - when I bought my flat I chose a one-bedroom as I didn't want to overstretch myself mortgage wise. As it happened, going down the line I could have afforded two bedrooms and really wish I had done. I would have had an extra bed for guests, more storage and also room for a desk for office space. Those of you who have been reading my diary will know that WFH from my small living room has been driving me up the wall! I'm really looking forward to moving to a two bedroom home in due course - wherever I end up!🤣
