Comments

I've created before a scrapbook for one of my friends - bought a nice looking scrapbook (but under £5) and decorated it with photos of us, bits from places we'd been and other bits and pieces, and she loved that, and used it as a book where her friend wrote messages in. The personal gifts are often appreciated more
.
Um what else, some shops still have "Back to School" sales on, so nice stationery etc can be bought.0 -
I am doing lots of presents for under £5 this year... saving for a wedding is great incentive!
Check out Boots in their reduced section. They had some facial toner reduced to under £1 each. They also had nail varnish for about £1.50 (fairly nice stuff too) as well as all manner of stuff.
Don't forget the charity shops either
Or for £5 in a charity shop or cheapie shop you can buy enough wool for a nice project
DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Certain branches of woolies are doing champagne for £5 as mentioned by martin in the newsletter, you could make a nice lable to go over the cheap looking one!

Marks and Spencers had some manicure kits and stuff for a £5 - don't know whether it was stuff for the holidays - travel sizes etc..
We do the £5 Christmas presents for the adults in the family - I always seemed to get stuff I didn't want and people had spent £15 or £20!!

I buy lots of pressies from car boot sales!!!!
I look throughout the year and end up finding lots of things for gifts. Over the last eighteen months I have found lots of pressies that are brand new/boxed/tagged and unopened all for well under £5. (so save yourself evenmore money
)
Next silver pocket address book and pen
Boxed Baby book from John Lewis
Boxed Height chart from John Lewis
Lots of toiletry sets for both woman and men
Books that look brand new (the pages havent even been turned)
Boxed jewellery gift set from argos
Camera case
Scarf and glove set
Girls Fancy Dress Princess Outfit (looked immaculate eventhough the label was off)
Table lamp from John Lewis
Bird Table
Photo Album
Expensive hand cream
etc etc
Theres always unwanted gifts up for sale and its not something many people think to buy from car boots so you tend to get the pick.
Dont forget to buy baskets for your hampers too
Send off for freebies
Making calendars using photos of pets/children/ etc
I made a calendar up one year of places in our home town i.e. the church she was married in, where she took me to feed the ducks when we were younger etc. for an aunt that had moved away from the area. I have also made one up for my father with pics of his dog which I had taken throughout the year. I intend making another this year for my brother and sisterinlaw. When I look after my neice in a couple of weeks time I will take lots of pics and use those.
Memory books ...there was an old thread on here where you buy a scrapbook..pop in a few photos at the front and then have elderly relatives answer questions to put in...i.e. your favourite toy, songs in your time, earliest memory, first date etc etc.
Special photo session at the park/in your home with digital cameras, just take lots and lots of pics and I'm sure you'll end up with some good ones you can print off. You can do lots of special effects on the computer..try downloading picasco ..you can fade in/sepia etc etc. Once you have the photos try the freebie board for sites to have them printed on for free (think truprint are doing an offer if you register you have 20 free prints..and also mypix I think are giving a free 8 x 10 away. Search on the freebie board.
Keep an eye on the grabbit thread as there may be something that has gone down.
How about making up a music cd with the persons favourite music on (downloaded off for free from the internet) and make an indiviudal insert cover for the cd case.
You could buy a case of wine for adults at the moment there is £10 off a case (look on the grabbit board).
Woolworths still have some gardening items really cheap if thats any help. (could do a gardening hamper for under £5 easily)0 -
Thanks Sally for all those ideas, I shall definitely have to get up earlier on a Sunday morning and pop to the car boot.

Best pressie I ever got was years ago from my tree little scallywags [all grown with scallywags of their own now Ahhhhhhhhhh] was a receipt /cheque book which contained hand written cheques for, wash up, hoover room, clean windows, peel veg you get the idea. It was fabulous everytime I wanted a rest I just issued a cheque. Could be adapted for grown ups to read, do 1 hours gardening, make supper, clean windows0
