I don't agree about the matalan v M&S or poundland rubbish posts

All you are paying for is a label, my little boy has had some absolutely gorgeous clothing from matalan, none of it has gone threadbare or mis-shapen and last year he was bought a really gorgeous fluffy nightgown which is adorable and is still as fluffy now as it was then

I don't shop in M&S for anything unless I'm passing through and have forgot milk or something like that. I had to buy a pair of trousers for my little one a few weeks ago as his nappy had leaked and it was the only place nearby with a babychange, I got a pair of tracksuit bottom pants (only as they were the cheapest thing in the store) £14 for two pairs   and they were rubbish, bad quality, badly sewn made in a sweatshop type rubbish.

I can't stand this "label" elitism.

Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M etc are brill for cheap bargains, Poundland have a really good range of books and dvds & cd's, good quality hair, bath, type products too so just because it's from the £ shop doesn't mean it's always going to be rubbish

    How RUDE!!!!!!!!

In my post I said I understood that we are all different & that to be aware some people would rather have a small quantity but good quality present.

You may not like M&S, Debenhams, John Lewis ECT.
Well I think Poundland, Matalans & such are CRAP!!!

Can't see where I'm rude, just putting MY point across that I think Matalan etc they are ok and have good quality stuff and that MY opinion of M&S is that their quality is inferior these days. Can't see how MY opinion is rude, yet your opinion isn't?

You may also have enough free cash to be able to shop in these stores but please don't undermine those who can't

i have 7to say I have bought clothes from different stores
    Debenhams
    Marks & Spencer
    Primark
    Matalan
    Peacocks
    New Look
    H&M
    MK
    Woolworths.

I tend to go according to how much money I have left in my bank account at that time. But I still like a bargain and last year my daughter wanted a nice fluffy dressing gown and it was much cheaper at Matalans.

    Anyway back to £5 Christmas.
I see BHS have a sale this Wednesday so might go and see what they have to offer.

Don't forget Cinema vouchers if you are buying for a whole family. It's expensive to go with a couple of kids, so if they only have to buy the popcorn it could make a nice evening out.

Whittards ? The china and tea shop, have coffee syrups in packs for £3.50 atm, which might be nice with some cheap chocs.

I love Whittards, all my mugs come from Whittards, I have a bit of a fetish for them.
    They do great sales too.

I would hardly call choosing to buy a smaller amount of quality products that will last "label" elitism.

Oh & M&S do have a budget/value range now (as you have discovered), they are probably trying to compete with the supermarkets who do a line of value/budget clothing too. But aside from their budget/value range they a FAR FAR better than poundland or Matalan.

I'm NOT saying to spend more, I'm saying spend the same but get a better quality of product that will actually be useful & last.
