Enjoyed my wee walk home today. The route was quite busy so I did feel safe (thanks PF
) but I don't think I'd like to do it in the dark. Ziggy - I thought I saw red squirrels on my walk home...but then realised my sunglasses have a pinky/reddish tinge :rotfl:
Has everyone tried walkit.com - good for routes and you can plan circular routes too, which I might do on my lunch breaks etc.
Not batch cooking tonight - jacket potatoes and tuna for the second night of the week insteadOH will no doubt come in with a take away  but I haven't been able to speak to him about what he's had/will have so don't what he's thinking...

The squirrels have been active for most of the day today, three chasing each other through and round our magnolia - it's lovely to watch, they do sometimes come right up to the patio doors.
Will definitely look into walkit as at the moment we seem to be sticking to the same routes and I don't want boredom to set in, especially when we have such gorgeous countryside right on our doorstep.

Morning everyone
Tenant has paid his rent so I look forward to allocating that in YNAB(Had mini panic as it wasn't there when I got up and usually is :rotfl:). The mortgage on my flat is coming down, so that takes the pressure off a little. :T
I'm working job#2 tonight so need to have a wee think about planning... Payment due too
Has everyone heard of librivox.org - free audio books of classics/books in the public domain read by volunteers (American site). I started listening to Emma, which was a bit strange in an American accent because you are expecting BBC's finest but still great for a free audio of it.
I've got a team lunch today - not v DFW but shouldn't be too 'spensive.
Catch up on the other side!

Crikey you must've needed that nap!
Will you share your chilli jam recipe please??? We sometimes get bags of chillies that go off..0 -
La e I'm going to make a basic recipe as I haven't done it before
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/mar/28/how-to-make-your-own-chilli-jam-recipe
I've got another recipe that calls for red peppers, ginger and other such fancy ingredients (!) Which I might combine.
You know you can freeze chillis? Just bung them in a bag and freeze and get out individually as neededDF as at 30/12/16

Morning Thursday Savers,
Just working my way through a bucket of coffee before getting cracking. The veg I brined made 6 jars of piccalilli, so I'll start by packing those away into the pantry. Today's money saving activity will be:
*Ironing only the garments which really need it & switching off iron for the final one.
*Washing my hair & letting it dry naturally.
*Doing meal plans for next week.
*Writing shopping list.
*Picking veg which is ready....tomatoes & courgettes. Think I will pick all the remaining tomatoes now & ripen green ones indoors as the huge plants need attention now which isn't worth it now when the crop is almost done. So plants will be chopped up for compost bins.
*Might take needle & thread down with me & start stringing up red chillies to dry too.
*Dinner will be spicy rice using last of the rubber chicken & home grown veg. Actually, it's not the end of the rubber chicken as I made chicken dopiaza for the freezer too. Hmm. Maybe put that on meal plan.
*Search jar stash for making blackberry & apple jam batch no. 2. We have a huge apple crop this year & I want to keep on top of all the windfalls.
I think that will do, as I will be spending lots of time in the garden.
Have a good day all & keep your pence in your purse.

La E - I really agree with DNMS about freezing chillies. There's never any need for them to go off as you don't need to do any prep or blanch or anything. Just pop in a bag or recycled little plastic lidded pot & freeze. No need to thaw before using.
I wash out & save the lidded plastic pots that hummous, olives, cottage cheese, etc, come in for freezing small bits & pieces......including last dregs of wine for adding to stews (not that there is often leftover wine in our house). Root ginger freezes well too. I freeze it in 2cm chunks ready for curry recipes. Peel it first & you can grate it from frozen.
Really must make a start.now.....can't stretch this coffee out any longer x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
