  • Back on track for me today after quite an expensive weekend away doing the great north run.

    Today I will

Repack my gym bag so it's ready to go (not DFW but life stuff)

    Catch up with surveys

Pay some off electricity bill - it won't be much but it's a start!

    Have a good day everyone!

Thanks PF & La E, yes I'm hoping for a little snooze later on! I've just booked an appointment for later in the morning at the drs to talk about ds2 as there's been no improvement in his bed wetting (its worse if anything) so I want to push for a referral. Dr had previously said he wouldn't refer yet as most boys grown out of it between 8-9, he's just turned 8 and has a 2 night trip next week which is making me anxious (explains the tears in front of the head yesterday ;( )

Legomum my d's wet the bed until he was about 10. He was a very heavy sleeper. I never made a big deal out off it (which I'm sure you don't either! ) and he grew out of it, but as he got older it was upsetting for him. My friend had similar with her daughter and in the end she got one of those alarm things which buzz/vibrate when they start urinating which worked for her. It's the heavy sleeping that's the problem x

  • Ask husband to parcel up the ipad I need to post (already taken money out of paypal so not really going to make me anymore money but don’t want to delay or I’ll get bad feedback)

Check husband has done washing and hung it out to dry rather than use tumble dryer

List 5 more things on ebay when I get home this evening. 1 x stereo system, some books, a filter coffee thingie and 2 dresses
    • Post dress sold on ebay – money needs to stay in paypal to pay for 3 x postage
Was at work till 9pm, too shattered to do it when I got home. Tonights job

    • Mourn the fact that I have just spent £70 on clothes for husband’s new job  Mourning done

Make this darn Jam I keep forgetting about, soup and pitta bread. Didn't have time - will do it tonight

Insist that we have freezer food for dinner no matter how much husband wants a takeaway curryFail! Was home too late - husband hadn't cooked (despite me asking) so curry it was. Moral of the story is don't leave husband in charge of ordering food because £27 later he's bought the most expensive takeaway he could find.

Today will be a NSD - I just have to resist going out to buy pitta bread for lunch and postage for ebay will come out of paypal account
    Fail on account of takeaway

So today - the weather is bad so all the washing is going to have to be hung up inside. Not sure how to deal with the condensation though? I don't like to have the heating on so I bought some of those plastic dehumidifiers which do work but am I wasting money?

£27 on takeaway has really irritated me. I don't like spending money on takeaways, if we're ever feeling like we can't be bothered to cook I send OH to the shop for a frozen pizza. It's my fault, I did say just buy whatever. He couldn't leave the house as DS was asleep - I should have picked something up on the way home but I had hoped he would just maybe spend £15 on a pizza but £27!!!! I'm going to hate putting that in YNAB! So I am determined to make that money back this week - my challenge is to make it out of nothing, i.e not sell stuff

  • Abby take aways have always been a prob for us. Not loads but 2 or 3 month which bumps up groceries spends! So what I have been doing recently is trying to do a slow cooker meal on days I'm working. Means I have to be organised and chop veg night before. And buying in a nice pizza and garlic bread a week from the sm so when we are faced with the inevitable night we're hungry and can't be bothered to cook is there. Better to spend £4/5 than £15 for take away!

I also pick up lidl thai curry ready meals when im there and freeze (fresh not frozen )as they're delish and like £1.80 each. I've also frozen the sm take away meals but I've seen them reduced

I've got absolutely no room in the freezer for a pizza at the moment - I'm trying to eat all of it (not at once lol) so that we can! New kitchen is being fitted by landlord in two weeks so trying to live off the stores of food - no excuse to buy any more food.

As soon as there is space, I'm whacking a pizza in there

    Morning Campers,
Useful day on the Frugal Frontier today so far:
*Did mid-month budget check-in. It took longer than usual as needed to reconcile post-holiday budgets & move some funds around. All seems to be in order.....in fact, we seem to be about £20 better off than I thought we would so will keep an eye on things for the rest of the month in case some forgotten expense rears its head. Paid off CC in full too.
*Watered & fed veggie garden. Aiming to have a good session out there tomorrow clearing spent plants & picking stuff.
    *Entered 2 competitions & 9 prize draws.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
    *Did a few Onepoll surveys.
*Updated the budgeting project I was recruited for via a survey site. I'm not sure at what stage I will be invited to leave it, so want to do my best to maximise payment (in vouchers).
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
    *Leftover soup for lunch.
*Make piccalilli. Mostly homegrown veg, & we had the additional ones (cuke & l/o cauli) in the fridge anyway. Ditto sugar, vinegar, etc, so haven't had to buy anything. Jars are from my stash so no cost there. Some will be put away for Boxing Day dinner, a couple will go into hampers for gifts. The veg has been brining since yesterday so getting this made is this afternoon's job.
Cheers all, remember it can't spend itself, so if it's not something you need, keep your hands on your pence! (I used to be one of the world's worst fritterers of money, I really did! So happy to have changed those destructive, environmentally damaging spending habits).

I am very jealous - I lust after a veg patch (sounds odd). I want nothing more than to turn my overgrown wasteland into a bountiful harvest!

    Evening all :)
Not an extensive list today, as I went to DD's to look after little GD for my regular Wednesday stint instead of her coming here, really to give pup a quiet day after his dental surgery yesterday.

OH appeared with fish amd chips for lunch (which GD loved) and DD appeared home from work for lunch and helped eat mine, which is a good thing, as slimming it ain't

An expense we could have done without, given the vets bill yesterday and OH's golf fees due I am informed

    Anyway, onward and upward:
Embarked on a use up of breakfast cereal - I only really like porridge or unsweetened meusli, but there are various part packets chosen by DH, who them decided he didn't like them, and left over small packets that the grandchildren didn't eat. They aren't going to be wasted, so I guess it will be me eating them! Had the last of my meusli along with half a mini pack of shreddies with my fruit and yogurt this morning.
Load of washing dried outside :)
2 items sold on ebay :)
Used a recycled jiffy bag to pack one of them :)
Used HG salad veg in the tuna salad sandwiches we had for dinner :)
OH picked another big bowl of tomatoes, so I will roast some and process into sauce tomorrow :)

It has been very hot today, so I must go outside and see what needs to be watered. Some things are coming to an end, but others, like my potted quince tree, which has over 30 large quinces on it this year  still need to be fed and watered!
  • Hi everyone

Enjoyed my wee walk home today. :D The route was quite busy so I did feel safe (thanks PF :)) but I don't think I'd like to do it in the dark. Ziggy - I thought I saw red squirrels on my walk home...but then realised my sunglasses have a pinky/reddish tinge :rotfl:

Has everyone tried walkit.com - good for routes and you can plan circular routes too, which I might do on my lunch breaks etc.

Not batch cooking tonight - jacket potatoes and tuna for the second night of the week instead :p OH will no doubt come in with a take away  but I haven't been able to speak to him about what he's had/will have so don't what he's thinking...

    xxx
