Cranky Is that Otterspool prom ?

No, I'm from the dark side t'other side of the river :rotfl: I start off in New Brighton and so far haven't made it all the way to Egremont Ferry and back. Sometimes it's a two mile walk but on days like yesterday when it was windy, cold and spitting with rain I just walk as far as Vale Park then back to the car which is a mile total.

It's a good place to walk as it's flat, it's concrete so not uneven and I can walk without looking down at my feet constantly trying to make sure that I don't trip up. There's plenty of benches and my aunty lives very close by so I get a cuppa at the end of it. I had one day when I must have walked a bit too fast and my hip went into spasm a couple of times which really hurt so I've been walking a bit slower and it's been fine. The more I walk the stronger it will get and the less that will happen.

I did something stupid 15 months ago (I did a physio exercise in bed under the duvet - don't ever try it) which caused a muscle and ligament injury that because of hypermobility has taken ages and two lots of physio to fix. I had to crawl up the stairs at one point which was ok indoors, but not a good look anywhere outside our home. My spine curves from side to side not front to back too (that foxed the man giving me an epidural when I had my son) so it's always my left side that I do mean things to, and sometimes the sciatic nerve gets pinched by inflamed muscles. That's why physio is so important - the doctor would just say "it's sciatica, have painkillers". The physios say "yes, we can strengthen this, stretch that a bit and fix it".

In the interests of making this post MSE, I feel the need to say that walking the prom is way cheaper than gym membership and on a sunny day most other walkers smile and say hello. If the tide is out there's oyster catchers down on the beach and yesterday I saw a crow smashing open a mussel shell for breakfast. The feel good factor of all of that is priceless and it's free :) Thanks to family the coffee at the end is also free but I do occasionally top up their bikkit supply.

Csarina I'm glad you're back in your own bed!
  • Improvement continues, today's lesson, teaching OH to put on the washer, and then hang the clothes out, I will need to bite my tongue no doubt. Poor OH brought up by a protective mother and then handed over to 3 wives who have carried on.........the third wife is now rebelling, he has got to come to grips with the fact that, although he is 10 years older than, he could well outlive me. I am just being realistc.........

Time to get my bum out of bed and put the washing out!!!

Csarina Mr LW is 10 years older than me, and has been told in no uncertain terms that he has to outlive me! He's my sole carer - I have no other family - and if he were to pop his clogs I'd be in serious doo-doo!

Dentists - not an issue for me, as I don't have a single tooth of my own.;)

Hairdressers - not been to one for over 30 years; the last time I did, I had a full-blown panic attack; I can't cope with physical contact with strangers, and having someone mess with my hair was way more than I could handle. These days Mr LW colours it and trims the ends for me.:A

So glad my OH was [STRIKE]brainwashed[/STRIKE] taught by his mother how to do things around the home; washing up, laundry, cooking etc.

As for getting my hair cut I've not had it done for around four years I think. I cut my fringe, I say fringe it is chin/cheek length depending, myself. Have to be doing something right as girls at work are always saying how jealous they are at my long hair and how nice it is. I don't use conditioner and for the last year I've been using original source shower stuff for shampoo :rotfl:.

Just put the heating element of the airer horse on. Window is open. OH put the laundry on it last night but it's not dry yet.
OH is out for the day so I have an easy microwave meal planned for dinner; sweet potato tagliatelli, vegan sausages, beans and vegetables.

I'm hoping to do a little tidy and vacuum today. We shall see.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

I love that original source stuff - is that the mint and orange and lime bottles? The mint is heavenly. I have also been buying (shhhh) Bronnley soap. Luxury triple milled variety. Rose and Lavender. Pure decadence!
Next on my wee list - as soon as the weather gets milder we are off in the bus up to Edinburgh and I'm having a hairdo. Makeup & soap I can order online but I haven't quite managed to get me hair cut that way yet..

I've used the chocolate and mint (not sure if they still do this one as haven't seen it where I shop for a long time) but currently using the coconut and Shea butter one.

Oh if only you could do haircuts online! Hair could do with a trim. A programmed robot or simular that cuts your hair exactly right would be a dream.

Having miso with vegetables (peas, sweet corn and onion) and rice. Had 125g of rice left over somehow after yesterday even though I did the usual amount for 3 portions. No idea how that happened but it's been a while since I've had miso, vegetables and rice so it works out nicely.

This is the first thing I've eaten today. Only had coffee, tea and water beforehand. Yes I know bad me. This is what happens when OH isn't home/doesn't cook for me.

What a lovely hubby you have :) do you have long hair LameWolf, I picture you with long lovely hair.

Hair is the one thing I spend a lot on, though I budget for it and it's costing me less and less as I slowly go grey. For the past near 2 years now I've been getting my hair blended to grey with ash highlighting. It's definetley cheaper than box dying my roots every few weeks and lm pleased with how it looks on me.

Sorry to have missed the comments earlier on mindfulness meditation etc as I'm a keen practiser. It's made a massive difference to the quality of my physical and mental wellbeing.

A few of you have said you can learn the techniques from a book of youtube etc. But to really embrace the practice and commit to it I'd recommend learning it from someone who knows what they are doing. It's something you need feedback and guidance with, the ability to ask questions and talk about it. It's not easy to pick up on your own.

For pain management, anxiety, depression it has does have a good track record for helping. Its not all about Buddhism either which can put a lot of people off.

If anyone is interested Google Jon Kabat-Zinn. He is a good starting place.

I went part time in a pressured professional job nearly 10 months ago due to health issues. I sometimes wonder if I'm squeezing a full time job into those 21 hours. This last week has been full on and I have my laptop home to do extra. I love my work, it gives me a great sense of achievement and purpose. It pays well and they looks after me well.

But I struggle with exhaustion and whatnot. My tips this week to cope have been extra sleep, !!!!!! the housework and eat out of my freezer and pre-prepared meals that I batch cook when I'm feeling good. My house is a tip today  but did I stress myself? Did I not haha, i slept late, had a bath, put fresh jammies aka home leisure wear on and taken it easy with books, cats and hubby.

Sometimes it's ok to be less than perfect and give in to rest. I'm sure too many of us feel we should be making up for our illness by doing extra, making up etc.

Noted a few thought it was off putting reading about woe's and people in pain venting etc. If you find yourself reacting negatively to this it's ok to step away from the thread for a bit. I do this. But I'd like to think this space was open and safe for people living with ill health to say what they like.

I really appreciate that this thread is here and know you are all suffering in some way or another so understand what it's like. I like to pretend I'm superwoman but In reality I'm more mouse girl :D

    Tldr: be lazy!

    Evening everyone,
Mojo definitely back a bit today less dizzy but unfortunately still have the drunk trying to walk on a bouncy castle gait so wheels not aired nor much by way of chores done. Hopefully it will have settled a bit more tomorrow as it's long day if you are not a TV fan and have poor concentration. Lots of birds in the garden this afternoon so I had a well-wrapped up sit on the deck for a bit watching their antics, especially how funny it is to see a tiny sparrow tell of a medium-sized pooch for getting to close. Despite his age he can gather a fair turn of speed to retreat to the safety of the deck so a very MSE way to spend some time. Just about to pour a large glass of wine........

I'm very careful to keep my energy clean and green lol and I don't get pulled into any negativity. I take great joy in the birds, the garden, the skies. I cloud-watch for hours. I'm not a Buddhist though lol I'm a Spiritualist.
