Thanks Polly; I hope to goodness that virus leaves you for good very soon.

Mr LW has now had his ECG scan; he said it was ok, nothing unpleasant, but of course they didn't tell him anything. I managed the drive ok, though I was physically shaking at the end of it.

He has two more appointments to go, both on 29th January; lung function test at 09:00 and sleep survey thingy, which is  a group activity, at 16:00 - we have to keep a sleep diary for him for the fortnight preceeding this, also documenting if he has any daytime naps, what time he takes his medication, and what time, if any, he has any alcohol.
So that's going to be several car journeys for me that day, which I am so not looking forward to. But it's a lot cheaper than him paying the £££ to park at the hospital.

Only when this lot is all done, and the results in, will he see the consultant again, and hpefully get some answers.

I also have two "meet'n'greet" visits for prospective new canine guests this weekend, one Saturday and one Sunday; so my stress levels are through the roof right now.

Not keen on winter myself - the old joints don't much like cold and damp! However - I shall have 2 days of Sasha the Labrador later in the month, so that's good.

Well my two meet'n'greets has turned into three. The one scheduled for yesterday went ahead, so just waiting now to see if the people actually book a holiday for their two delightful Cavapoos. The one that was meant to be today is now scheduled for Thursday afternoon, and I have an extra one happening tomorrow evening.

All this in between me making closer acquaintance than I would like with the Big White Telephone. Nothing to worry about, just the usual lupus-induced nausea, but a blimmin' nuisance nevertheless.

Mr LW has decided he wants to visit Bletchley Park tomorrow (he initially wanted to go today, but I said 1. I didn't feel that confident to be out of hailing distance of the bathroom just yet and 2. springing it on me and expecting me to be able to just put my coat on and go isn't on - I need some notice to that I can prepare myself mentally. He's right to want to go though - the tickets we have are valid for a year (ie til November 2018), so we should make the best use of them that we can. :o

I hope you feel better soon Wolfy . I tried posting yesterday to send the lavender vibes for the meet and greet but kept getting login problems . I was thinking of you though and will continue to send those vibes for the two to come . x

The virus became pleurisy so I've been fit for nowt . We've already had a few appts in the last 2 weeks and we've literally dragged ourselves there and back each time . Another one at 9am tomorrow then 2 on Friday a few hours apart .

The good news is DD met her cbt lady on Friday for an hour and they connected well . She's using this as time to just talk and is allowed to lead the discussion . Something happened to her when she was seven which she only told me about a couple of years ago . She hasn't even told our GP but she has now opened up to this woman and feels the discussion has helped bury a few ghosts .

We know she needs DBT but it's not going to be available here , no provision at all . Hopefully these sessions will put a few more tools in the coping box .

She has an appt in a few weeks with the lead consultant who years ago first uttered the diagnosis but refused to formalise it in writing .
Basically our GP has arranged it purely for a medication review as he feels she needs a low level anti psychotic for a while until things are hopefully less challenging .

Meanwhile I have spent a lot of time either in bed or dragging myself around . Starting to feel some energy coming back now but pacing where possible as there are other new appts also due in a few weeks . Dr has been like the Duracell bunny but it's all a bit daunting . We'll manage the idea is one big hit and see how things go .

I hope everyone is staying as well as possible . I still haven't read back but will a bit at a time . I'm not sure how long LL is away for but I have wished at times in the last few weeks I too was somewhere away from day to day life .

Meanwhile stay warm if you can all and avoid those bugs and viruses :D

    polly x

  • I'm annoyed that my cholesterol is high this time in the blood test as I got the results today. I'm wondering if it is a side effect of the Lyrica as that is the only real difference in my life since I had my cholesterol tested last summer.

I know one other option for Fibromyalgia would be to take low dose anti psychotics as I read that in the Fibro manual.

I complained to my GP today about having to wait another month for the NHS therapy and I just got a call from the psychotherapist and lo and behold she has found an appointment and she can see me next Monday now. He must have contacted them.

    My GP is awesome!:T

Pleurisy is meant to be horrible.xx :(

That is great news about the CBT. I realise I was very lucky to get DBT. My psychologist told me it is very expensive so that is why it is not available everywhere.

Do you mind me asking if the anti psychotic helps with the fibro symptoms as well?

I've been on them a few times, but before the fibro diagnosis and it was quite a high dose too. I remember they did make me feel like I had a massage or just got out of a warm bath, very relaxed.

Bletchley Park visit is postponed til a later date - Mr LW has a poorly back and doesn't feel like driving, and there's No Way In This World that I'm driving to Bletchley.:eek::eek:
Also it's pouring with rain, so getting between the huts would be a bit miserable.

Re: therapies. I've just consulted Mr G00gle re DBT (I still think of Computer Based Training when I see the term CBT :D ) and I don't understand why it's so much more expensive? Surely, it's the same amount of time spent with a therapist, and the therapist has to be paid whatever form of therapy they are administering? Or am I missing something?

The DBT I had was very intensive. With DBT I got a weekly 1 hour therapy session and a 2 hour weekly group session as well as access to a telephone service for 24 hours a day. This was over 18 months.

It was extremely good therapy, I can't fault it.:)

    Hi everyone!

Busy week this week! Appointments for the hospital and speech and language with the kids have took up a lot of my time this week.

Friday is payday for us tho so going to be looking at my Feb shopping budget and bills to have a look through. I have been reading the £365 a year thread and I’m intrieged - it’s onlybfor 1 person and that person has a lot of time to go YS hunting etc but made me look at the £300 budget I set for 4 of us and wonder if it could be tweaked to save a bit more as we REALLY want to go on holiday abroad this year as kids have never been and it’s been over 10 years since we went!

Very tired so hoping to have a nice - do nothing day - on Friday as it will be my only day I can this week.

I’ve also been eating GF and feel so much better for it - I was doing it before but being lazy and wondering why I felt so yuk!

Hope everyone is ok and staying warm as it’s freezing here at the moment and although the snow has started to melt the wind is picking up a lot!

  • Morning all!

Hope everyone is coping with the weather!...It is bitterly cold her , with some really gusty winds...but no snow. However, we saw the German news yesterday - and might try to contact some relatives over there to check on them.

Mum is currently on antibiotics...for her ankle...so I have made a batch of joghurt - to hopefully replenish the 'good' bacteria and stop her getting a bad tum.

I have started sneezing, and have a bit of a cough starting...hoping it will stop at this! (I have a past history of bronchial issues, which I am anxious to avoid!)

I have a gift voucher to use at the local wool shop...not sure if I fancy going out today - I WOULD like some grey/blue mottled wool to make a new hat and glove set....but that can easily wait,,,I have plenty of knitting to keep me occupied...maybe just have a quiet day with the heating on!

Stayed home today and definitely glad I did as it was freezing! Mam helped with the School run and I’ve just pottered around the house.

It’s pay day for us so going to try and sort the shopping budget out and make some meals for the freezer. Aiming for £50 a week so 4 weeks £200 for all of us all in.

Hope everyone is doing ok? This thread has been a bit quiet lately so hope it’s just everyone recharging after Xmas!
