  • Just noticed your comments.....David Tennant was “my doctor” too, although I also liked Matt Smith.

I have just finished watching the second series of the “The Crown” in which Matt plays Prince Phillip. He is excellent In the role.

I won’t say too much about the series - don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it yet. It had very mixed reviews but I have enjoyed it. It doesn’t pull any punches, it’s a bit “warts and all” but it’s worth watching. The sheer level of research and detail is really something.

And I love “Little Women”...one of my favourites. :D
  • I was going to see my GP at the start of the year and say that I want to apply for PIP. I'm not really sure if he needs to know or not, but thought I would tell him?

I agree this time of year is hard; it's also very difficult to see everyone enjoying themselves and doing "family" stuff when you have such dark and horrible childhood memories as I do.
Still, I have Ronnie here; he's a real little ray of sunshine. :o

Yes, I know what you mean. :(

I haven't felt as lonely since I got my dogs a few years ago, they really do cheer me up every day. Dogs are great! I mean, I love my cats too, :Dbut they are not as affectionate as my dogs are.
That's annoying Wednesday . Is this new therapy or the EMDR ? If the latter it isn't good to leave a long gap .

It's the new NHS therapy. I don't even know what it is they are offering me yet. They have annoyed me as I thought there were meant to be targets on being seen within a certain number of weeks in mental health now. I might ask my GP about that too.

    Hi Pollyanna and everyone....

I'm still here, still subscribed to read daily and loitering with intent. The intent is to post but whilst the mind is willing, the body sure as heck is weak. I've just about had enough energy in the pot to get through my 3 days at work.

Had a nasty fall at the weekend on black ice from a leak that has been bubbling away for years. My famous last words were 'you better hope no-one goes bum over boob'. Well it was me that did it. One minute upright, next minute on a bed of ice that stretched about 20 ft by 30 foot. I had to slide to grass verge and use my trolley to get up. Not been the doc but I suspect I've torn ligaments in my knee ---- the one I'd just more or less got back to normal after having been referred to a physiotherapist for, falling and jarring of it when near doing a debbie mcgee (the splits) on holiday. My back, arms, wrists and hands are sore. I also think I've now torn some tendons in my forearm as trying to open things is more about pain when twisting rather than having no grip. I don't know ... these things are sent to try us.

As for the razamatazz, call it what you will of Christmas, I'm done. There's only me and the hubby for christmas day and then I'm back in work on the day after Boxing Day and then off for the rest of the week. DH is back on the Thursday and then off for the weekend. Yep, timing this year has not been our strong suit:rotfl:

Apart from the fall, touch wood, the rest of me is in one piece with no colds or flu bugs. I have this thing in my head in that I wear my gloves when out so I'm not coming into contact with train and bus poles to hold on to, that someone else may have coughed and spluttered over and I keep them on when holding onto escalator rails etc, but then the power of good old hard cash carries germs so I better watch what I wish for.

Everyone seems to be managing really well, or as well as they can be with their daily challenges. I like to see us as a bunch of champions ...never let the little stuff grind us down, rise to the challenge and win, victorious as well as keeping on going.

The infrared spa opened nearer to my home BUT, I'm not sure about going now. I saw that in their opening bumf they were saying about the benefits of the spa for fibro, arthritis etc, all of which I agree with however, it then went on to mention that they have Fibro meetings etc. Sorry, that's so not me. I don't want to sit with a bunch of folk sharing my pain, literally. I know no-one is going to enforce I go but all the same. This is a spa, not a self help class. Rant over.

I know I'm early, but just incase I don't get back to post before the man in the red suit pays a visit, happy hollydays, seasonal greetings for a pleasant winter solstice (Mrs LW), may you all stay warm, eat chocolate buttons for dinner if you want or add to global warming with extra sprouts on your plate, but either way, I hope one and all get to spend the end of the month doing what they want to do, how they choose to do it, creating memories but most important of all, in a healthy frame of mind both physically and mentally.

I'll see you round the corner in 2018 if not before.

    xxx
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

    Solstice Blessings, everyone.

Ok before I forget to say it, I liked Wonky Teacup's "stone in shoe" thing; my own version is to wish the irritating human Piles. Pratchett fans will remember Nanny Ogg doing this - "It won't stop him ruling, he'll just have to do it standing up!". :D
LW I've seen you refer to yourself as Wolfie or Wolfy do you mind if others call you one of those names ? It always feels a bit impersonal typing LW . No offence taken if you prefer me not to .

Polly, I can't keep copy'n'pasting the quote thing, so I'll answer your points in red. ;) You can call me anything you like as long as it's not too late for Last Orders. :D Seriously, if you're comfortable calling me Wolfy, that's fine, I have been called that IRL from time to time. :o

I'm now picturing laptop wars taking place . That's a long time to wait for them to source a new motherboard , you'd think they would be keener to sort it out after they caused the damage .

Apparently we're not the only people awaiting a motherboard, which has to come from - I think - Germany. I remain unimpressed.

At least you now have the dates of the forthcoming appts . Will you need to take and collect your husband to all 3 ? Hopefully the 2 on the same day wont require double journeys each way .

Yep, three visits to and from horse-piddle; and the 2 on the same day is one early morning and the other late afternoon. I shall be crackered after that!! Oh, I said the first one was 4th Jan, I checked and it's 9th.

I hope you see the sunrise , I've checked the forecast for this stretch of the NW coast and we wont see the sun . We have had a lot of freezing fog rolling in over the last few days which is a downside for living so close to the Irish Sea . Visibility is showing as very poor overnight and into the morning .

We saw only clouds, but we were outside on the patio none-the-less; and Ronnie had a good sniff round the garden. ;)

It would be good if MR LW can get help with the snoring and fidgeting , I understand how quickly losing sleep can impact on others too .

He's also fidgeted so much that he's fallen out of bed more than once; just last night I had to haul his a$$ back in twice or he'd have hit the floor again. It's very worrying.

I really wish we could somehow take those dark bad memories away for you . Such things are too deep and damaging for words .
I was one of the lucky ones with a firm but good mum and a beloved dad . We never had much money but were well fed and cared for and Christmas was simple but good .
I too was married twice but did things the opposite way to you . My late 1st husband was a loving and gentle man and Christmas was a lovely time with the older children . I remarried and that was when i learned people could be evil . I had never had an experience of violence and abuse and it nearly finished me off .
He was an alcoholic and as i later discovered taking drugs . It was Christmas that finally made me look for a way out as i wanted my younger two to have a childhood like their older siblings .
Back then there wasn't much information on DV but I found Gingerbread and secretly took legal action unknown to him to have him removed from the property along with a power of arrest if he came near . He'd already become known to the police as a good neighbour used to phone them and they'd arrest him .
I was lucky my name was on the mortgage and he wasn't interested in paying bills . My youngest two got their good Christmas's but nowadays I don't feel as I used to as my memories were not the ones they once were .
Sending you a gentle hug at least you ended up with the good guy .
Just have your sort of holiday both two legged and four pawed .
    polly xx
    Thank you. x
    Onwards and upwards, hey? :o
I haven't felt as lonely since I got my dogs a few years ago, they really do cheer me up every day. Dogs are great! I mean, I love my cats too, :Dbut they are not as affectionate as my dogs are.
You know what they say - Dogs have owners, cats have staff! :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi everyone!!

I’m officially on holidays of Xmas! I finished work on wed - DH yesterday and the kids broke up today!
All the presents are wrapped - the food is bought and I have my feet up with a drink!

It’s a lovely time of year but very stressful - I’m sure we will enjoy it and the kids are so excited.

We have been keeping track of our spends for Xmas this yeah and I am horrified! This is our first Xmas at home and with 2 kids to buy for and me and DH have bought treats for each other which we went supposed to do really... I’m shocked and think I’m going to have to look at how we can spread it out over the year - this year we had loads on with moving and decorating so I’m hoping we can work out a better way.

Wednesday - you don’t need to tell your GP but supporting evidence can be sent in with the application - it was an awful process for me and we fought for 2.5 years - I gave up twice as I couldn’t deal with the stress. A lot of the time they never even spoke to my specialists or Drs even though I put them down and didn’t bother to look into my condition. There is a lot of support places that will help you tho.

I hope everyone has a lovely Xmas and new year xx

Personally I think they make the process as arduous and unpleasant as possible, so that people will give up rather than waste so much time and energy and endure so much stress. I am still having nightmares about the awful interview I had to endure.

Yes, I have heard so many bad stories, that is why I've been dragging my feet with applying. It seems to vary as well as some people say they got it with no problem at all. Stupid system.

Hope everyone has managed whatever preparations they need for whatever celebrations they will be enjoying!

Went to M&S today to collect the ordered piece of venison for dinner on the 25th...their order/collect system was just amazingly well organized!

I put in a repeat prescription request to see me over the festive period....my SiL kindly collected it all for me (and Mums at the same time)...unfortunately when I unpacked it all I thought it looked a little 'light'....and realised I was missing 3 items....turns out that the order was so large it was packed in three bags - 2 on the 'general' 'awaiting delivery' shelf and a note attached to say there was another bag in the fridge, the assistant had been in a rush, picked one bag of the shelf and saw the note about the fridge so collected that - and didn't notice the other bag on the shelf....so that meant ANOTHER trip to the chemist.

As far as 'The Doctor' goes...I was of the Jon Pertwee era...I could accept Tom Baker and Peter Davison, but nothing later...and that's how it was for some time....and then I developed a little 'thing' about slash-fiction (under another name I have been known to write a little...and read a lot!)...I loved the Stargate franchise and read a story that crossed over with Torchwood - and Captain Jack...I was intrigued as I had never heard of this character...read others and founf he was often matched with David Tennant's Doctor...and somehow grew rather fond of this incarnation too ;)

    Wednesday
...when I applied for PiP I sent supporting evidence with my application...and also gave the names and contact details of my GP and specialists...the evidence WAS read (by someone with no experience/understanding of my conditions) , the GP and specialist were not contacted at all.....they would rather rely on the 'observations 'of a HCP who may have no knowledge of the claimant's medical issues rather than make a phonecall/write a letter to someone who has expert knowledge of the medical condition, knows the claimant and has treated them for years!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas!

We have had a great chilled out time at home and have really enjoyed ourselves!

The dinner was no big deal after all, I cooked the turkey on Xmas eve and prepped the veg then too. I did manage to burn the stuffing so it was black and unedible but everything else was great.

With the PIP process it’s awful as I was turned down because I looked to healthy??? And I might get better??? Which proves they have no knowledge of MS at all - it was a horrendous time and the forms were so complicated and they tried to trip me up every opportunity they got. When I went back the 2nd time I wore no make up and hadn’t washed my hair as it’s awful I had to make myself look how they thought a person with MS should look in order to qualify. They still didn’t bother with my nurse or neurologist who would have told them straight away. It’s a degrading process and it made me feel like I was begging rather than getting the help I’m entitled to.

I hope everyone has a great new year and all the best for 2018 :)
