  • Thanks for thinking about me Polly. I do read most days. Had a very busy time last week of November and just can't seem to refill the spoons.
Try not to moan as there are many on this thread in worse position.

  • Re weight , it's worth looking at the meds you are taking as some can lead to weight gain . DD had a problem before the gall bladder was finally removed . She was unable to keep food down for nearly a year and already on Metformin for some years . Our Dr had to take off the med as it was making her gain weight which was making the situation worse .
She's weighing uo Melatonin herself at the moment . Iron levels are fine and the constant bloods monitoring means things are flagged quickly and sorted by the GP .

Yes, I know that Lyrica can cause weight gain and I have been trying to monitor my weight. I know I gained weight when I was put on antipsychotics back in 2009, I think. One thing I did notice even back them was that they worked with relieving aches and pains in my body. I did see in the Fibro manual that low dose antipyschotics is one of the meds she recommends for fibro.

I actually worked out yesterday looking back at my notes where I keep my weight and blood test results that I am 21 lbs down from last December. I was really overweight back then as that was when I wasn't sleeping hardly at all and comfort eating a lot.

I will tell the doctor about the weightloss next time I see him as I only started seeing him around April. Thinking about it that weightloss isn't that bad considering I haven't been able to exercise.

I would like to lose at least 30 lbs more next year which should be achievable. I would like to see if losing weight would help with joint pain.

I hope everyone is keeping warm, it's almost like a gale out there today. Pouring with rain too.

Is the desktop back now ?
No, still no desktop pc. Actually, I am fuming - after nine days and an ignored email asking for a progress report, Mr LW rang them on Friday; he was told the service dept was all busy and someone would ring back; they didn't. So he called again on Monday, and this time was told that they had managed to damage the motherboard when they took the pc apart for inspection, so they have now to try and get another the same from the manufacturers. Bottom line is it will be AT LEAST another week.

Fwiw, we have two browsers on the laptop (and on the desktop) - so if Furryfox isn't playing nicely, we just use Chrome instead. ;)

I thought I was going to get away with not putting up any [STRIKE]tat[/STRIKE] decs this year - I really just cba to be honest; but Mr LW started mithering on about going up to the loft to fetch them, so I guess I shall have to bite the bullet. :D The upside is that I said we'd need to go round all the tops of the walls and the light fittings with the sheep-onna-stick first, and he's doing that as I type. :A
I've also been informed that he wants to go and see the new Star Wars film *groan* - it'll have to be Thursday or Friday next week (it comes out on the Thursday) because Ronnie the JRT arrives on the Saturday for a 20-day stay. :o

FYI. Holiday vaccines and fibro are not a good mix......

Chemist warned “there might some slight joint pain and muscle aches”.

    Understatement of the year....:rotfl:

Sorry can’t type more.....hope all is well.
  • Afternoon folks...my sympathies are with those who have meds that 'may cause weight gain'.....in my experience 'may' can be read as 'absolutely and most assuredly will'.

I am finally - and very slowly winning the battle...giving up meds is not an option, so a complete lifestyle rethink was needed. (As I have stated on other threads I was put on meds in my teens that started the weight gain....meds that are now no longer prescribed to people.....and after YEARS....decades?....of weight issues I have finally found a way of eating that works for me...and I guess that is all one can ask for!)

My Christmas Decorations are up...I did a little and had help for the rest!...My Nativity Scene is actually up all year....No candles for me (well....quite a few candles actually...all battery operated!)...as matches are a real safety issue for me.

Hope everyone is keeping warm...and reasonably strong!

    Hi everyone!

Thanks Pollyanna I’m trying to pace myself best I can, the blog sounds like a good read, I do try and be as organised and prep as much as I can but I’m terrible if I’m tired and just buy when ever is easiest to do for tea - I paid £2 in Tesc0 for 2 jacket potatoes with cheese in that you put straight in the oven and I have potatoes and cheese at home I was just exhausted and needed to feed the kids :( some days I’m great and we are all eating amazing and other days I’m on the floor and we are paying £20 ordering pizza - maybe I should look at this more in the new year? it’s been a hard week and I’ve had a water infection too :/

I have my treatment at hospital tomorrow, I go in for the day every 4 weeks and get my medication via a drip so it’s a long day. It’s amazing stuff tho and I’ve been on it for nearly 4 years, my other medication is more iffy tho! The pregabilon for the pain is very strong and I’m often drowsy with it (and I’ve gained 3 stone in 4 years!) I’m on a few different meds and get them packed in cassette type things to help me remember and because my hands don’t work.

I’m nearly done with Xmas and I’m looking forward to the food part too, I’m going to get a frozen turkey crown and make up and freeze my pigs in blankets so they are all done, then it’s just veg and potatoes as I’m not making loads of different things. Going to do prawns to start With smoked salmon and I just need to sort a dessert out!

Hope everyone is plodding along and enjoying the dark cosy nights :)

  • I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but melatonin might help for tinnitus. I'm sure someone on this thread said they suffer with that. My husband does as well so he might start supplementing too.

Urgh. I just tried on some of my clothes and really looked at myself in the mirror. I am determined to lose more weight as I don't feel comfortable with myself.

I did find an outfit that looked okay in the end. Black jumper with a red vest top underneath, black skirt, black leggings and a black knee length skirt. I'm wearing my new skecher boots and they are very comfortable so far.:T

I am going to put some HM soup on and go for a walk at lunchtime. I'm feeling a bit down about things and that usually lifts my mood. I get into a pattern in winter when I stay in a lot and probably don't get enough daylight so I have to try and get out every day.

    Hope everyone is okay.xxx

That's probably be me; I've had tinnitus all my life, and it just keeps getting worse and worse - which seems strange to me, as I am becoming more and more deaf to all other sounds (and my hearing aid has packed up, darn it).

Is melatonin something I have to run the gauntlet of the GP for, or it is readily available on t'internet?

I ordered mine from Biovea. I'm not sure if it does work for tinnitus, just I read it a couple of times. It does help with sleep.
