Hi everyone . I hope you're all coping with the elements and the damp , cold and sometimes gloomy weather isn't having too great an impact on you all .
DD finally got got her BPD diagnosis on February 7th after 20 years of fighting the wrong diagnosis . It was weird in a way . We'd worked on a massive bullet point list which had been compiled from 20 years of paperwork . Consultant Psychiatrist shook hands and within 5 minutes stated BPD . List was not really needed and we were both stunned .
As anticipated only thing available is CBT at the moment . DD is happy to stay with her surgery CBT at the moment . Agrophobia has really ramped up over the last few years so focus has been shifted to that as MH services are planning to challenge her to fight that .
Thankfully Psych has decided Anti Psychotics are a final resort and as she had very bad issues on adult APs in her early teens we are happy with that .
The PTSD has also been confirmed so she feels validated which will hopefully help recover from all the Not Trying , Drama Queen etc comments by local MH services over the decades .
A long journey but worth the effort .
She'll see the cbt through and has been offered an extension of the length which is good .
When it comes to DBT that will unless funding changes here need to be paid for privately . I think yours is NHS Wednesday but will be interested to hear from anyone who has gone the paid for route .
It seems there is no official register of qualified practitioners so that's a bit worrying .

Well as our doctor predicted the ME/CFS crash has hit us both but we're just coming round now .
It's strange how a positive event can lead to a crash but at least the battle was worth it .

Sorry for the long post . I need to look back a few pages to get up to date with whats going on .

Stay warm all of you and take care . Any doggies in the Lair Wolfy ?

    Back soon

Not at present; Snoozy Suzie went home on 26th Feb; Lizzie is due here on 10th March. I have a meet'n'greet visit with a new dog, Dusty, which was to have been today, but has been postponed til Thursday due to the weather.

It's just as well in a way, as I can't use the mobility buggy in the snow, so Mr LW would have to do Walkies; while he doesn't mind, I do - I feel quite hard-done-by if I can't take the dogs out myself! :D

Polly that's so good that finally your DD has her proper diagnosis. It is such an uphill struggle; I know for a fact there are a couple of things that should be officially listed for me; but I just don't have the fight in me to push for them; and I certainly can't face another MH interrogation. I'm thinking at my age it's not worth my while in any case; I shall have shuffled off this mortal coil before I get any satisfaction from the medical bods.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

At least Lizzie will be with you in a week and hopefully the weather will be much improved Wolfy . I'll be sending the lavender vibes for the meet and greet on Thursday . I do keep everyone here in mind whether I'm posting or not .

I totally understand you not wanting any more interrogations now . DD was fairly calm on the surface during the assessment but I'd had to keep assuring her right up to entering the building which held nothing but bad memories for her that this was one final make or break visit . Had it gone badly we'd have never gone back .
It was just odd to not need to pull out a long list and try to challenge the Psych !

She's only just turned 33 so worth that last attempt . The most important thing for her is she is finally believed . We finally got our paws on all the mental health history which had been missing from the notes we requested a while ago . I have a thick wad of A4 going back to the original Asperger wrong diagnosis 20 years ago .

Repeated feedback from many MH professionals mentioning BPD and recommending DBT and support . We hadn't received that information before the appt but thanks to a tireless GP who remembers his pledge to first do no harm it's here now .

I've always been a committed environmentalist but am wondering if just this once Mother Earth can forgive a helluva bonfire to burn all the downright rubbish letters that have come through the letterbox over the years . I'm dithering over that and may shred instead and bury them in the garden . I don't have a shredder strong enough or the energy to dig big holes right now but I'll think things through .

How is MR Wolfy now . Is sleep any better for you both ? Hope the bad black dog hasn't visited too often . I've booted it through the door a few times recently but spring is coming , the clocks go forward in a few weeks and we'll start turning towards the light once more .

We have had some wonderful moons over the past few months . I always think of you when I'm moon gazing and the Wolf Moon had your name on it .

Like you the snowdrops are up , my much loved oddly named Summer Snowflakes too and the tiny old fashioned Welsh Primroses are in bud . A few more intrepid birds among my residents are gathering bits of twigs and stuff with intent . So the world keeps turning and we're all still here so things could be much worse .

    Take care

  • Indeed it could be Polly...MUCH worse.
I keep on reading but not posted much. So glad to see you back and to hear positive news from you and DD.
From where I live all I can see from house to edge of cliff is snow. Been like that from Tuesday onwards. Can'r wait to see some hint of thaw.

I've been thinking of you AOT . Things really haven't been good in your neck of the woods weatherwise . My eldest daughter is in West Yorkshire but I think in the NE you've been having similar weather to her .
Not good for the muscles and joints at all . I hope you're managing to keep your spirits up as it means staying in hoping for weather to arrive .
This is where having some stocks in the cupboard makes a difference and I hope you're managing ok and staying as warm as you can .

I wont confess this on The Fence but for the last month or so no cooking from scratch has taken place . With illness , lots of new appts to attend and no energy to drag myself to the garage and search the chest freezer we have been eating from Marks foodhall

Os heresy I know . I'll probably have to hand in my pinny , rolling pin and oilcloth bag !!!

I did save a lot of money by missing Christmas , already had gifts bought so didn't see all the festive food etc . Marks is directly opposite the Pharmacy dd is registered under in the nearby town so as our GP was seeing her weekly during bad flares of both the PsA and Fibro it was a quick solution and saved large store shopping thanks to being stocked up on cupboard stores .

Take care of yourself things will get better soon .

Glad your daughter got the diagnosis finally, shame it's left you both "wabbit". Hope you get the chance to recharge your batteries and get some "me" time x

Thanks caronc . I think the word which escapes me at the moment is the one you taught us meaning totally kaput !

The energy is coming back but there's loads of housework that's been neglected . I'll catch up on that as and when I'm up to it . I don't think the sky will fall meanwhile .

How are things with you ? We've had the snow for days but it's warmed up a little since yesterday and a lot has cleared .

Are you any better balance wise now ? I imagine like me you're looking forward to getting out in the garden and doing what we can manage even if at times it means sitting soaking up the sun and feeding our spirit . I've vowed to be more sensible from now on and save any energy mainly for the various appts which are filling up the diary . It's good to see you here and I hope you are feeling pleased now about the enforced early retirement . I felt unhappy retiring early but it was better it happened in my case . It just takes time to work through those feelings .

    "Totally kaput" sum it up:)
Me - I had rough spell + shingles+ a couple of med tweaks - not the best combination but fingers crossed i'm getting there now. Frustratingly have lost the gains made last year, but my brain re-learned before so will do so again! (I hope:)). Like everyone else I just need some sunshine:D. I'm still getting my head round being retired but that's to be expected. Roll on the gardening season x

I chose the wrong word re retirement . Pleased is a daft word in the circumstances . Brain cells are still struggling to align once more .
Shingles are such a nasty thing I hope you manage to regain some of the progress of last year . Meds changes can present new challenges and undo previous improvements . I do hope these will prove helpful .
Meanwhile we should vow on warm and sunny days which will come along sooner or later , we'll take moments to just be and soak up the warmth . Whenever I think of you I remember " I get knocked down but I get up again " from the song ! You have a strong positive gene and long may it continue . Soon we'll be discussing tomato sowings and seedlings so much to look forward to in the months to come .
