Polly thanks I think I’m overthinking it a bit too much! And thank you for the kind words - I think you feel gulilty when kids are concerned anyway.
LW I know you are having such a hard time at the moment - sending love and positivity your way - take it easy and do what you can and nothing more!
Wednesday I hope you enjoy your night out! Sometimes a bit time out with friends is a great boost!
Sorry if I’ve missed anyone I’m on my phone!
The fridge freezer is here!!! We survived 8 days without one and I’m so glad to have it again! Took DD to her class tonight and stopped at the shops to get some fresh bits as we had run everything down and used it all up! Looking forward to eating and cooking normally again!
I think I’m stressing about Xmas dinner and your right it’s just a fancy Sunday roast! Going to at a turkey crown to cook and make everything else as easy as possible! We will have veg and mash (no roasties as I can’t do them) and I’ll try my hand at stuffing and pigs in blankets! I bought my first food item today and it was a box of after eights for the table after dinner!! It’s just us 4 and it’s our first year doing dinner our way so we can make some new traditions!
Glad I’ve finished work for the week now, I’m getting my hair done tomorrow (it’s shocking!!) and I’m going to make a chilli and hopefully get a meal plan sorted as it’s just gone out of the window last week.
We are trying to cut right back on Xmas presents this year and we are doing well so far - the kids have asked Santa for 2 toys each and I’m getting some surprise bits and I’m going to try and pad out the gifts with some essential extras but not sure how that would go down, wrapping up toiletries, socks etc maybe that’s going too far but I’m just worried it won’t seem like they have a lot otherwise?
I can’t belive how cold it’s got over the last couple of days, heating is on first thing now for getting up then an hour at bath/bed time. If I’m in on my own I try to wrap up and have a blanket but I put the fire on if I’m too cold.
An early night for me tonight as even though I’m off work I have a School run to do still - and it’s too cold not to be sat in bed with my flannette sheets on!Living the simple life0 -
pollyanna_26 wrote: »Wednesday There were a number of symptoms you mentioned which sounded exactly like this super virus but I was thinking you'd had a diagnosis of Flu reading your posts .
The cold sores was a big clue as were the foot problems . DD has badly damaged tendons and when something is flaring she gets her Psoriasis rash on that foot first which indicates inflammation starting an attack .
This virus is very much about inflammation . Our gums swelled as did sinuses , face , jaw everything hurt . Coughing sneezing hot cold and all joints painful you name it it happened . I've had pneumonia and pleurisy in the past and I never felt as ill then as I have in the past two weeks . Eating was impossible so it was a matter of keeping fluids down . I feel a lot better now but still week and wobbly and not much energy .
Re the cold sore , that was the first indication for DD and she'd only just got on top of the last lot from the norovirus . She does harbour the virus and in the last few years it's been more likely to result in an outbreak each time she's ill . Originally she would use Blisteze which is pretty effective if you catch it when you feel the first tingle . This year Dr has introduced an Anti Viral into the big box of meds to address the cold sore problem as she can't risk infection with lowered immunity . It hasn't stopped it but the healing is faster .
Meanwhile have you thought of trying Orthotic insoles ? DDs are made to the correct shape for her foot at the hospital but it may be worth you trying a good make from the chemist .
I always wore Marks leather ankle boots with a lowish heel . Footglove brand and smart and not frumpy . The last ones I bought were 4 years ago I bought them each year for the 4 years up until then - generally in the sales . I knew they fitted well and didn't hurt my feet . I still have them as I take them to the menders and keep them polished .
They altered them a little since then and I tried one pair and returned them as they have lowered the above foot height and it meant they were rubbing the top of my foot . Mixed reviews online some love them others found the same issue I did Might be worth you trying them on .
Meanwhile I agree about pavers , we're lucky to have a branch in town . I have some lovely summer sandals by Fly Flot I bought there and they are light and comfy . Sadly no longer available and a pair of navy leather pumps which still may be .
Pavers have a page on Amazon and I bought one pair of sandals much cheaper on there after paying a lot more in the shop .
Enjoy your night out ,
polly
God, the symptoms you both had sounded absolutely horrible!:( I wasn't as bad as that at all. I thought I must have the flu as I was throwing up for a couple of days.
I did buy some insoles, but I just looked at the pack a minute ago and they are more for plantar fasciitis.
The skecher trainers I bought last week seem quite comfy, but I haven't been doing the heel exercises the doctor told me to so I will have to get on that today.:p
I do need some boots as well, though, so will have to hunt some down. Thanks for the tips.

pollyanna_26 wrote: »LW when you read my previous post I mixed up Phantosmia and Paracusia . My mum had the former and I meant to say Paracusia is the scary and horrible one to deal with . Sorry for that , I've come to the conclusion I'm barely functional at the moment !!!
I had a horrid moment the night before last when I heard someone moving about in the kitchen. I wasn't asleep (I was actually sitting up reading) so I deffo didn't dream it. Biggest nuisance is when I "hear" the quite distinctive sound of the entry phone (it's a bit like a lowish toned Trimphone, if anyone remembers those), drop what I'm doing and go to the lounge to find out who's at the door, only to discover it was an hallucination.
The phantosmia is awful because it's normally either cigar smoke or meat, both of which are nauseating to me. Why can't it be a nice smell??
Ah well, as my grandmother would say, "What can't be cured must be endured". I've managed to turn the over-ripe 'nanas into a banana cake, there's a loaf in the BM nearly ready, and we shall be having HM pizza for tea (I'd better go and construct it, or we'll be having pizza base and nothing else).
Have good days, all; and stay warm - it's chilly and miserable in Concrete Cow Country today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all,
I’m glad to be home! It’s freezing outside and getting so dark early on. Both kids are tired and playing up so early night for them and a bit chill out time for me! Got my hair done today so I feel more human but didn’t have time to pop to the Drs for DD prescription and my mess from the chemist so will have to do that tomorrow.
I’m at hospital all day tomorrow for my treatment so I’m going to enjoy the peace and quiet and take a book to read.
Going to do some Xmas stuff on Saturday with the kids, we will write our letters to Santa and and maybe manage some Xmas crafts if we can stop the squabbles!
We need to get more stuff sorted for Xmas and will check my lists if I have a moment!
Hope everyone is ok and is keeping warm and looking after yourselves!Living the simple life0 -
Hi girlies 😁
Am buzzing today, as i've just sold something on fb:j I listed tons of stuff yesterday, n am delivering today 😁
Am feeling not quite as sore today, so maybe the CBD oil is kicking in after 2 weeks.Apparently, we have to awaken our cannoboid receptors first WEDNESDAY, so it might be worth sticking with it for a while longer 😉
Am at the docs later for my steroid jabs in my knees, fingers crossed they work this time 😊

Had a huge post and lost it!!
Been Xmas shopping this morning and at hospital all afternoon for my treatment. Managed to get some good stuff and made a good dent in the kiddies stuff so I’m pleased with that! How is everyone else getting on with all this Xmas stuff? I feel totally unprepared this year!
Hospital wasn’t that bad - I go each month and the staff are amazing! Got my dinner there too and some foods so it’s a nice break! Straight back to get the kids from school and then off to swimming lessons for them both - got in the house and I’m done! A night in with hubby tonight and a well deserved take out ..... still haven’t got back into cooking yet but hey ho one hurdle at a time!
Hope all is well and everyone is keeping warm and taking care of themselves!Living the simple life0 -
Morning folks!
Freezing here this morning...temperature has been dropping steadily for a few days....that heat-pad of mine was SUCH a worthwhile investment!
My skin is going through a problematic phase...some very itchy places!...thankfully the wet psoriasis is under control at the moment.
And I have had a seriously 'grumbly' tum...so I have cut back on the refined carbs which usually helps to settle things.
Cupboards and freezer are getting nicely stocked up for the winter..including some delicious home made soups....I have put a big pack of oats onto the shopping list (so useful...breakfasts...crumble topping for fruit....flapjacks which MUST be healthy as they have oats and fruit in them!!!...and cooked with kale and sausages mmmmmm) ...and my sister will hopefully be visiting soon and she will take us in her car to pick up jumbo packs of loo paper and kitchen paper!
Sorry to read that so many of the people here have been hit by viruses....Living in sheltered housing means these things pass really quickly between residents...Hope that everyone is feeling better!
Just a random thought...I was clearing out my 'junk' file on my e-mails...and as per usual there were a number of spurious offers from overseas pharmacies - offering me various products at bargain prices - the headlines included names (I don't actually open the emails!) which included Fentanyl patches, various Opiate tablets, Assorted Steroids and Klonpin (clonazepam)....now Mum and I take a number of these...on prescription...and don't pay for them..and not everyone gets free prescriptions...but I was wondering ...what sort of idiot actually buys this stuff online from overseas companies?????...I mean, how would you know that what was on the packet was what you were actually getting?....but I get a number of these offers every few months - so there MUST be a market!
We have the hairdresser coming this afternoon...home visits are wonderful!!!...I can't cope with salons...the chemical smell makes me ill...and the noise is unbearable, always LOUD radio blaring and dozens of people screeching to be heard above it!
Mum and I have been discussing Christmas Dinner....no turkey or chicken for us this year...we are planning on getting a small venison joint...enough to give us both 2 good meals each....plus the 'usual' trimmings.0 -

How is everyone else getting on with all this Xmas stuff? I feel totally unprepared this year!
Seriously - I'm not a Christian and I don't have kids, so I ignore it. Mr LW and I ceased any form of present exchange when he was out of work back in 2002/2003, and we've carefully never re-started it, so there's never been an issue of presents.
I'm making my own Yule cards, and that's about it.
Mr LW likes Xmas pudding, so I make 4, usually this is done on Samhain (31st Oct) and we eat them throughout the cold months, interspersed with fruit crumbles, milk puds etc.
We don't bother with any sort of special cake as there's only the two of us, so it's not worth it.
I'm lucky in that I shall have little Ronnie staying, from 17th Dec to 6th Jan, so I have a ready get-out in the unlikely event that we get any invitations to go anywhere.
All sorted! :rotfl:
Wild and woolly weather in Concrete Cow Country today - had a slightly soggy Spaniel this morning after her walk, but she's good about being towelled dry. Candy how's Bonnie about having feet and undercarriage dried?
Stay warm and dry, folks.
Gotta go, the WM is cheeping, and Mr LW is studiously ignoring it.:cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Drops under the tongue, n i've got used to the taste now :rotfl:
Fab news that you have a furry Xmas woofer to stay LW 😁I cba with Xmas much these days, apart from the Grandkids, I wouldn't bother. I don't need to cook Xmas food, as there'll only be me n Mum on the day, n i'm buying tons of veggie treats n nibbles 🤑
Healing vibes n huggles to all xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
