Forum Member Passed Away - A Cautionary Tale

My mum was the same, she used to inject her insulin at different times, ate what she wanted, wouldn't be told anything. She was having hypos on a daily basis.
When she went into a care home I had the job of emptying her house. The amount of boxes of insulin about the place was unbelievable, I got five of those big bags for life bags full of tablets, I found letters for appointments hidden all over the place. The dates on the insulin and tablets went back years, I piled all the bags in one place to take away, looked at it all and i broke my heart. I've often wonder if things could have turned out different in the end if only she had looked after herself properly.0 -

It looks like you need a spell-check
But seriously, no. Happens all the time on this board, - one person points out the obvious (usually Guest101, from what I've seen) and for some reason it riles other people.0 -

I applaud the OP for posting, i hope it helps them move on. Expressing my feelings certainly helped me when my ex left.
If people want to slate others, it's their decision. Who are you to say they can't ?
You don't seem to have any respect for the opinion of others.0 -

Embittered rants about one's ex-husband (or very occasionally wife) are not that unusual on here. Quite entertaining, for the most part.If people want to slate others, it's their decision. Who are you to say they can't ?

Yes, it IS their decision if they want to spend their time writing judgemental and mean-spirited remarks about the deceased, under the cover of anonymity, to a bunch of anonymous pseudonyms on the internet.
I'm just saying it's not a very nice thing to do, imo.
But feel free to disagree.0 -

I don't suppose you've stopped to think about how your remarks are perceived by the OP ?
Did you even consider that that OP may be put off posting again by your comments ?
I'm not saying people shouldn't speak their mind but sometimes it really is better to sit awhile and think before actually submitting anything. It's obvious to me (and others i think) that the OP has had a rough time, his wife was ill, she has now died, he's probably kept stuff bottled up, and i can't say i would blame him either. Now he feels able to express how he feels.
If you can'y say anything nice, don't say anything at all is sometimes best. You just come across as knocking a man when he's down.0 -
I hope the OP returns, it sounds like his poor wife was completely overwhelmed by her diagnosis, to the point of total and ongoing blind denial.
Life for the OP must have been horrendous too--I can't imagine many worse experiences than watching the slow self-destruction of the person you love and have chosen to spend your life with.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000 -
I was waiting for a bus recently. Four people were smoking at the bus stop. Outside a cancer hospital.
Sometimes people choose to ignore how dangerous their lifestyle is for their health. It's immensely frustrating for those around them, who have to watch them engage in risky behaviour, but if they refuse to listen, there is nothing anyone else can do about it. It's not surprising that the OP feels sad and frustrated that his wife did not look after her health.0
