I hate cows fullstop! We were do our speed training on common land in the summer and there are a lot of cows on there. I thought I was sprinting flat out until a cow chased me ... then I suddenly realised that I can actually run a lot faster than I thought :rotfl:

Do you use heel lock lacing? If not you should really look into it as it holds your heels in place in the shoes. I use it for all of my running shoes. Google it, it involves creating a loop with the low hole at the top then lacing through that loop.

It is only in races, and it is not just because of traffic but also being able to hear instructions from marshals and other runners. There is nothing worse in a race when you are running flat out and someone steps out in front of you because they couldn't hear you coming.

PS well done on your run this morning :T

:rotfl: :rotfl: That made me LOL about the cows.

I've looked up heel lock lacing and i'll give it a try on Saturday :)
    Thanks for the well done!

Yes, I'm just thinking about it ! it will be my next step in my health and exercise programme. My GP encouraged me to lose weight (4 stones in the last 2.5 years) and take up exercise (he put me forward for 6 months free council gym membership and 2 years later I'm attending all sorts of classes plus swimming and the gym itself).

I've never run because I'm frightened of tripping - I'm so clumsy !

I've just nipped over to Amazon and bought a copy of that book you mentioned (also a used copy £2.68), thanks for that.

WOW, well done ERICS MUM, thats a huge achievement!
You already sound much more active than me! I have always hated exercise, then a few years ago i started going to the gym lots but wanted to start lifting weights. The gym i was going to seemed to have a 'women cant lift weights' mentality, so i stopped going.

I am not sure what to do. Advise needed.

I am working all day Friday so unable to run as I will either be at work or have son with me.

I can go tomorrow but if its hot like today not too keen as I have to run at 1 just after work and before school run that tends to be hottest part of the day :(

Son has a club Friday night 7-8 so I could run whilst he is there but that would mean dropping him whilst in my gear, running and collecting him still in my gear afterwards, I am not too keen on that option either.

Its my weekend so no opportunity to go over weekend either.

He is only just 9 so will not be able to run with me as he won't keep up and will get bored.

I am thinking the best thing is to run tomorrow and hope its not so hot with maybe a long walk over weekend (son will be happy to walk as long as he can play pokemon :rotfl:)

    week 1 day 2 complete :)

wantobese - no cattle here but I did come across a rather hot, muscle clad bloke. Luckily I was doing a running segment at the time at the beginning of the session so I picked up my pace and tried to look like I knew what I was doing.

Oooh, I'd rather have seen the bloke then the Bull!! Lets swap ;)

I'm a lady of leisure having retired early ! Plus sadly my Mum died in March and I was her main carer. I have been struggling to get into some sort of routing since then as I used to plan my day around popping to Mums twice a day, her shopping etc.

So the classes have helped me and I'm tempted to add something new. How I'll fare in winter I don't know !!!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum.
Am I the only one that can't wait for autumn to hit? I can't wait to curl up in blankets on the sofa and light candles and eat warming soup. Although I probably won't be saying it in a few weeks' time!

Think I'll head to Primarni at the weekend by the sounds of it and get myself some things. Might pop in to the running shop as there's a good one opposite as I probably need new trainers- I have slightly dodgy feet with high arches and need good supporting shoes generally let alone when I'm running!

Hope you are all having good weeks! Keep going everyone, we will all get there! :T:T:j

I ADORE Autumn! I cannot wait, literally, i love the colours, the weather, the fact that it can still be sunny, but starts to feel crisp and cold.
Curling up on the sofa, hot choc in hand, watching a movie...bring it on!

Good luck at primark, let us know how you get on? I got some lovely pink/flowery and black running leggings, some plain black ones, and some almost Army print green ones.

Not sure what you mean about the weekend? Do you mean you have no opportunity over the weekend, or that you do have the opportunity over the weekend?

If you can, Saturday morning sounds ideal

Sorry I meant to type no opportunity to go over weekend (edited my post) as son is with me this weekend.

When its sons weekend to be with his father I will be going on Saturdays, that will be my time to drive somewhere nice to run rather than the same old park that's near my home.

good idea about hat I will do that.

Glad you agree on tomorrow I was thinking maybe people would think I should 'just get over myself' and go on Friday with having to pick son up after  the thought that people I know would see me in my gear horrifies me

I used to like running in the snow with it crunching underneath my feet when nobody else was around.

Winter is the only time that I contemplate a run before work. It is so nice first thing in a morning running through crunching snow before people get out of bed. Sadly I am lazy usually so usually end up going at about 7pm lol. But its still nice crunching, especially if there is a full moon.

@iammumtoone I am sure that you will be fine for half an hour or so in the sun. Its not supposed to be as hot as today too.

I dragged my DD to the running shop with me last year as I needed leggings and a new sports bra - all she was concerned about was that I wouldn't wear them 'in public' i.e. as leisure wear, in her vicinity.
