    1. This might be a silly question but do you run (following the programme) every day ?

    2. I have trouble keeping ear buds in, and Ive just thought getting one of those stretchy headband thingies to put over my ears, see if it works. Or I might make my own with stretchy bandage (the ultimate in money saving !)

You are meant to leave a day in between so I do it mon, wed, Fri. Good luck with the headband!
  • Quick question.
Do you have to listen to the app as you run?
Does it not say walk 30sec, run 30 secs etc in a planner?

I am just wondering why everyone is worried about headphones?

  • Hello everyone

nice to see some new names

sweetilemon - kudos to you for doing this on a treadmill I am in admiration, for me it takes so much more dedication to run on a treadmill than outside. as others have said do not worry about pace the idea at this stage is just to complete the 30mins,

wantobeSE - hope you found some clothes I am going into town on saturady so will see if I can find anything [STRIKE]suitable [/STRIKE]cheap :o

Ericsmun - the idea ti to have a rest day in between so run three times a week. If you look back through the thread I got some wrap around ear phones which I find are better. Are you following the plan or just thinking about about it?

indesisiv - yes you can print the planner but at this stage it is run 60 second walk 90 seconds therefore so much easier to have someone to tell you when to change otherwise you would be staring at phone/stopwatch constantly. Also the background music changes beat for the walking/running segments so it helps you along.

I ordered myself a book (I am a sucker for books :o) just a used copy for £2.20 so it wasn't a lot. I have prime so it should be delivered today https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/0671017039/ref=tmm_pap_used_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=used&qid=&sr=
  • Thanks mumtoone. I have to admit it's purely practical reasons...I don't want to be that sweaty and smelly outside a gym and I also live in Scotland so the weather is generally rubbish!

Hope you find some nice clothes. I really should buy some new - still wearing maternary leggings nearly 6month's on haha. Spend half my run pulling them up!

ahhhh totally failed with my run this morning! I felt a bit dodgy when I got up this morning so didn't want to risk it! I was going to go after work instead but was absolutely shattered (how is it only tuesday!!) and have crashed on the sofa all evening, ooops!

I used to have nesquick after a run but I'm trying to eat a lot less sugar as I have high risk of diabetes due to a condition I have and family history and it's absolutely loaded with sugar! Because I run in the morning I just make sure I have a good substantial breakfast after like a bacon sandwich, scrambled egg, porridge etc.

hope anyone running tomorrow does well! let us know how it goes!
  • I switched to week 2 today - probably not the best idea, given how hot it is down here :) but I'm running on a treadmill, so at least the gym had aircon.

I was surprised how well it went, tbh! I struggled to run 60 seconds when I started this, but I did all my 90 second runs today. Proof it really does work, I guess.

Good luck to all of you giving it a go.

  • Well done Elfbert! It is surprising, when it jumped to 3min, all of a sudden the 90secs that were a struggle was easy! I think a lot of the struggle is phsycological! Air con gyms are great, no weather excuses!

You didn't fail you just took a break I love baking. Good luck for your run tomorrow!
  • 20mins?! MAN! Lol. Glad I've put the speed down then. I am just determind to complete it tbh! People keep asking how it's going and I know they are expecting me to say I gave up so I just want to be able to say, yes, completed. When it's completed I can work on speed (would need to be 10kmph to do the 5k in 30mins). Yesterday's was 3x 5min runs, I have the BBC app, not sure if NHS one is the same?

I feel the same, i dont think people believe i'll complete it!

I didnt know the BBC have a C25K app, but i can imagine they are pretty similar :)

I need to work on speed at some point, but not going to worry about that yet.

ERICSMUM- AS Sweetilemon says, you are supposed to do it 3x a week. I am doing in on Monday, Wednesday and either Friday or Saturday.
The kids said they want to join me on a Saturday morning!

Indesisiv- You dont have to listen to the Podcast/app at all, you could just write it out on a planner if you want. But i like the music in between the prompts. Plus her 'you're almost there' and 'you're halfway' really spurs me on.

I got 3 different running outfits from Primark and it only came to £30! They've got some awesome fitness clothes in there, really pretty stuff. I wouldnt rate the sports bras at all, so didnt pick one of those up, but i got 3 leggings and 3 tops that were reduced to £2 instead of £8.

I think the best thing is not to push yourself and listen to your body. Perhaps you are coming down with something?

So, i am going out for my 2nd run in a minute! Really looking forward to it again. The weather is still awful here, rain, fog etc. But i'd rather that than have hot weather, so thats fine.
I am going to have to put plasters on my blisters, hopefully it wont be too painful!
