More miles frequently have lots of stuff in sales and is generally good kit too.

Anyone still doing this? Any sucess stories? I'm determinded to get fit and did loose a stone before Xmas (put on half a stone during xmas so still half a stone down at least)
Have already changed my diet but I've come to realisation I need to excersize if I'm going to suceed as the weight just isn't shifting now.
I'm thinking of doing 3 days doing the couch to 5k (Day 1 I did yesterday) and doing zumba in the 'rest days'
Hoping to join gym at end of Feb, if not end of March as much as I would like to go, I don't feel confient or fit enough (ironically) as I don't just want to turn up, do 5min on the treadmill and have to call it a day!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I think it is important to actually 'rest' on at least some of the 'rest' days if you are new to running. Cross training is good but your muscles do need a chance to recover as well.
I did C25k 6 years ago and it was good. I let it slip and then restarted back in September, moving on to 5k to 10k before injury put me on pause.

Hi katalana, unfortunately i wasn't able to complete it as I've been having some health issues and wasn't allowed to do any exercise for a while. But I've just been given the OK to exercise again, so have ordered some new running clothes and trainers, then starting again!0 -
I know your right Mally Girl but I can run much more then I can do Zumba, I'd literally max out about 10min (if not earlier) because of the 'belly dancing' part to it I get stich type pain in my stomach and I see it as training two different parts of my body...I need to keep up with Zumba to get my muscles used to doing differernt things in my head.
ATM the running doesn't seem to need any recovery but if I get any signs I'm over doing it as it gets more intense I'll step back from Zumba for the time being.
That's great, I'll admit I'm doing my couch to 5k in my front room (better then nothing though right?) I'm alternating running on spot and running up and down. I struggle to get out the house as I have two young kids and whilst I do have time in the day it's my self-confidence that lets me down...I'd not mind running early morning outside but it's not possible unless it's the weekend.
Completed day 2 today, I've left off buying sports clothing for the min and just sticking to leggings and my Husband's football top indoors...oops. It's on my 'to do' list but I don't want to buy now, and have to pay again later when I've dropped my first stone.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Depends on the ages of the kids....put them in the buggy or on scooters, go to the park and off you go.....you run to the first tree and walk to the next then run to the next and so on....either pushing the buggy or being escorted by the young ones....they go ahead and come back....invent a story....if they are older you can play skipping and hopscotch...very energetic for all of you....the games of childhood are being lost...revive them, have fun and get fit.0

Some great ideas but not for me really. I'm quite happy doing it indoors for now.
Just completed week 1, Husband is off most of next week and the children are so hopefully I'll manage next week too!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
So pleased this thread has been resurrected. Following a 2 month gap I decided to start on week 5 run 1 and it was pretty manageable (despite baltic temperatures). Planning to get back to running three times a week, with nothing more strenuous than yoga and hiking in between.May'18 DEBT FREE!

Yay. Did you find it easy to keep up with the weeks? Part of me wishs I had skipped week 1 now and at least gone onto week 2 but I heard a lot of people had to repeat weeks as they couldn't keep up. Will be starting week 2 today.
To be honest I've not kept up on the Zumba front but I've had to do so much catching up and now it's half-term so little ones are off & Husband is off from Wed....as long as I manage to complete week 2 I'll be happy as week 3 I'll have my normal routine back!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Just got back from week 2 run 2. Enjoying it so far (but not as much as I enjoy a kebab and a beer but then that is why I need to do it).
I'm doing the 5:2 diet as well (started that at the the start of the year) and so far scheduling issues mean I've done one run a week on a fast day but I've managed it no problems but then it is early days.0
