Have you been on a narrow seat B787 or B777 in economy FunTime?

I'm not FunTime but was on a 10 across 777 as recently as last week. Most of the difference is in narrower aisles and the fraction of an inch of any width loss is not noticeable.

As I mentioned earlier, passengers of smaller dimensions may not have an issue with the narrow seats, however, for some, it could be troublesome.

The reality is that today, many economy cabins - even premium to some degree - are becoming condensed.

It's all about selecting the flight and carrier that is best for you in respect of times, layovers, service etc. and whether tier points and Avios factor into the reasoning - although the latter two points shouldn't be a major consideration when flying Y, however I fully appreciate that some will consider price as the primary reason for choosing a carrier for a given destination.

If I had to fly long haul economy however, even if they were heavily discounting flights to a destination I desired, with connections in the Middle East, despite some excellent carriers being based there,
i would go for a direct option from a UK departure point if they were available - irrespective of price, bearing in mind that I would have to take a positioning flight regardless as I live in the regions.

That would be my choice for my situation - others will undoubtedly make an alternative choice because their circumstances may be different and I respect that.

Agree - it's always going to be horses for courses. The Middle East airlines all have regional departures and splitting the journey in the middle time wise is more preferable for me than a short flight followed by a very long one.
