Ohooo, Molton Brown Gingerlily Body Wash, I absolutely love it. You don't need to use much, and I usually drop hints at Christmas, but if not I buy it for myself
Candlelightx
PS, It used to be called Heavenly Gingerlily but they seemed to have dropped the "Heavenly" I don't know why0 -
My secret non-MSE vice is pets.
I have three horses (two are rescue horses, the other is my own old boy) - one is out on loan but the other two are in livery locally at £60 a week each plus farrier + vet fees etc
........and three rescue dogs
....... and two ex-feral cats
None of them have any value but they are priceless to me.
I am very frugal in all other respects and work full time to support my habit.
I hate the throw away mentality!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I have a couple!
I like to buy silver jewellery (known in my house as 'shiny things') on eBay. I tend to like celtic designs and botanical stuff.
I like craft, cookery and gardening books. Currently vegan cookbooks. I have lots of books and am developing an interest in history books too......and historical crafts......
Pretty and unusual clothes from charity shops.
Stuff for projects like fabric (though I tend to use charity shop or unwearable clothes from friends and family) wool, cotton, glue ...the list goes on.......
I also spend each week on slimming world. But I feel I need this to kick me into weight loss mode and this helps my back.0 -
Thanks to lushlifesaver I feel a compromise coming on. If I were to have my gels done professionally every 6 weeks at the hairdressers (waiting for the roots to be coloured) I could maybe justify using some of my Love 2 Shop vouchers in Boots for the Sensationail starter kit, and in between coiffeurs I could try my hand (?) at doing it myself. That would be semi money saving, wouldn't it? Trying to imagine myself doing a pedicure is rather worrying!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Sorry - a bit OT
Me.
Inherited from grandparent who used to work on a haberdashery market stall, then added it over the years because you never know when you'll need that one button to match one you've lost. Also added to by parent who used to own a nursery school and the toddlers loved sorting it.
Of course it takes you another six months to sew said button on when you've found it, but that's another story.
My vice is holidays - not that many of them but when I go I want to be doing it properly and not having to worry about taking a packed lunch out, or whether I can afford that cocktail. Or three. Although I was very good on my last holiday and worked my way down the cocktail list during happy hour. How MSE is that. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I forgot to say last night as well: MSE (to me) means that we can save money on the things that we need, but wouldn't necessarily choose to spend money on (car insurance, etc...) to spend on the things that we want. Now, obviously, I'm not advocating going out and spending every penny of your rainy day funds! But what I mean is, it allows you to have nice things without spending over the odds to have them.
That's my philosophy exactly plus I just hate being ripped off and that's what lots of supermarkets have been doing to customers for years. Aldi and Lidl have done us all a favour giving people an option and making the big names sit up and take notice.
I have huge sympathy for those who are living on limited incomes for whom mse isn't a challenge (as I view it) but a necessity. At the same time I admire those who've been stupid with money, got into debt and are now sorting themselves out. There are all sorts on the boards so it's important not to generalise.0 -
I don't think I have a secret non-MSE vice
although, a large tub of red vine licorice is probably the best I can do! I usually manage to get people to buy my stash for birthdays and Christmas, and even managed Easter one year, but I sometimes have to buy my own!
I'm not fussed about clothes/shoes/makeup and have got my book obsession under control due in some part to excellent local library!
edited to say, I have a button box and it is often played with by the children. some of the buttons were my grandmothers, and others come from old, favourite clothing.
I do like stationary, and especially notebooks ( that I keep for 'best' ) but recently I've got tough on them and am using them too!0 -
Like many fellow posters I'm old style by my upbringing however it got me through the horrific mortgage rate increases of the late 80's when we had our first house and has since made it possible for me to have a couple of good holidays each year and recently to buy our very own "place in the sun".
There is one vice I have which makes me feel very guilty. Once a month I buy 25 Beautiful Homes magazine . I don't read it straight away, I hoard it it until the time is right. I have to have spare time, hubby has to be out and, depending on the time of day, I retreat to my posh lounge with either a cup of earl grey tea (tea cup and saucer) or a gin and tonic (best crystal only). It's a ridiculous waste of £4 a time and sometimes I have two issues waiting to be read but I just can't help myself. Once I've read it I pass it on to either my mum or one of my friends - but never the same person twice in a row - heaven forbid anyone should think I actually buy it every month:o
Goodness knows what a psychiatrist would make of me!
I do have a shoe collection in the hundreds but that's not a vice - that's just because my weight and dress size may vary but my feet don't tend to change much0 -
Ive had my sensationail set set for over 2 years. I found it quite hard to get out as a working lone parent so decided to DIY and I've never looked back.
I Have quite a collection (mostly gifts) of colours now, and having found "nail shields" earlier this year, find removal easier than ever (these are great for regular glitter polish, too, which is generally a beggar to remove!).
It took a bit of practice to get the lasting finish, but after a few goes I was brave enough to even try adding my own shimmer / nail art.
They even do a converter now that allows you to mix your own polishes with a gel base so you can buy any type of polish and make it gel-able. I've not tried that yet as I have rather a lot of colours to work with
I've even done mani's for my mum and MIL, and used it to "fix" split nails too.
My other vice is coffee pods. I did find my machine at half price (saw it in sainsbobs for £90 but found a deal at JTF online) and I buy 3 boxes for £10 probably once a month. One pod a day, occasionally 2. Love my morning coffeeBossymoo
