Secret non-MSE Vices

Fabric - I quilt and there are so many beautiful fabrics now. I must confess I also have over 100 different Liberty lawn fabrics (although bought from the factory shop so less than half the price of the Liberty shop). I'm trying to limit this addiction now till I clear some of the fabric I've got.
Books - I have a rule now that as soon as I've read a book that I know I won't read again it goes into the charity shop pile but I still have well over 1000 novels plus about half that of non-fiction. I try to buy second hand or from The Works or Book People but there are probably around 20 authors whose books I must have when they are released so that means hardback and for US authors an exorbitant price.0 -
Really well made acoustic guitars. Preferably vintage. I know more about wood and steel and strings than is healthy for any grown adult.
This vice has cost me thousands over the years. I own two guitars, but if finances and space allowed, I would own many, many more.
I've felt falsely justified in buying them because I make my living as a singer/songwriter/musician and they are the tools of my trade. It's taken a long time for me to be able to play something I loved and leave it in the store. It's not even self control, it's the fact that there is no extra money. I stay out of stores for the most part now but it doesn't stop me from thinking about them...:happylove0 -

For me it's sweet things. I love a bit of chocolate after lunch, and a dessert at suppertime!0 -

Wait...WHAT??? There is a Liberty factory shop???? This is quite possibly the best news I've had in ages. Can you tell me where it is located/what it is called?
Sorry...that was possibly a rude interruption to this very polite thread.:o0 -

Premium make up. I don't have lots of different products, not do I wear lots, but the products I have is the pricier stuff (Mac, bobbi brown, nars etc). I don't buy cheaper products, because I know I wouldn't use them. I guess it's my little bit of luxury.0

The only really bad habit I have is taking taxis far far too much. I don't mind my book-buying habit too much, and going to the cinema and eating out are just part of my monthly routine that I work hard to fund, but my taxi habit is just a terrible waste of money. I feel as if I get a real benefit from all my other spending habits, but taxi money is just going down the drain. And I am gettting fatter because I don't exercise.
I've made a promise to myself to cut way back on this stupid spending, starting today!2025 goals
GC: April £100
Savings: save £6K (or move house)
Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books0 -
I have two indulgences - Liz Earle and Hotel Chocolat. I also love my holidays abroad but am always looking for cheap flights and bargains!0

Ooo I have a few.
Posh skincare stuff including nice spf moisturiser for under make up. I convince myself it's worth it whenever I look at a colleague who's a sun worshipper secretly think 'urgh look at her wrinkles' (I'm wicked).
Also those Graze boxes, where they send you 4 individual punnets of snacks through the post. I say to myself they're a handy size to take to work but know it would be cheaper to buy a big bag of nuts and raisins and portion them up in food bags. And probably healthier just to snack on fruit!0
