Do you have one? I certainly do. Whilst I am quite thrifty in most areas of my life I have recently acquired a habit which might as well be crack cocaine - gel nails!
It all started innocently enough with my hairdresser offering various beauty treatments for a loyalty bonus. I chose gel nails cos I have pretty awful ones which split and crack regularly. It was that or a full facial - eugh!
It was love at first sight. I felt like a new woman although I knew it was a one-off. UNTIL three weeks later after a particularly unpleasant and vitriolic customer reduced me to tears, I decided that life was too short and that as a little expensive treat I would go to the local nail bar in town and have another one.
They are so neat and beautiful, not particularly long, but my hands look so much more elegant I fear that this will be a habit for life. I am already factoring in the expense on the spreadsheet....
The shame.

Umm ok.. Hello my name is Cornish chick and my secret vice is, boots or shoes ..I love new boots , ohh and a new dress
, I proberbly buy one or the other every month ..
But, in my defence , the last pair of brand new boots were a clitch for 4.99 instead of £80 and the Boohoo dresses were from the outlet
Bogof for £25today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Sounds OK to me Cornish Chick. But if I can make the gel nails last three weeks it will still cost me about £350 a year! That is disgraceful, but I just can't help myself.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

CONFESSION TIME My secret vice is nails as well. I have my nails done every 3 weeks and have done for about 15 years.
I always had lovely nails when I was young, but as I grew older and I think because of the medication I am on they would just split and break.
I don't wear them really long, but I have quite big hands (like my Mum) and they just help to make them look more ladylike.
Living proof it is a habit for life, and one I don't want to kick:)
I don't drink or smoke so I look on this as my treat

I was too embarrassed to say the month before I spent £79 on another pair of awesome red ankle boots
Ps 350 is less then a £1 a day , you can't pay a therapist for less than that lmao .today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Yippeee! A kindred spirit. It seemed a bit ridiculous after that frivolous expensve to go to Lidl and buy 5 packs of reduced price fish for the freezer, but maybe that's what funds the nails at the end of the day.....Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Living Proof - I used to love having my gel nails done, but at £35 a pop it was a luxury I gave up when I went PT at work.
However, I 'invested' in a starter kit from Boots, which was less than £40 on an offer, and included an LED lamp and everything you needed, plus a little scoot round eBay/Amazon for a couple of colours and for less than 2 visits to the nail bar, I have a lifetime (ish) of beautiful nails.
My vice is kitchenalia - I do love a gadgetbut am in remission at present due to reaadjusting to reduced income.
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Meant to say mine are acrylic, I had to have nice hands when I was at work anyway and that is over 10 years ago now.
I just like to see nice nails, but I will say if I break one I go into a decline (I am not really that shallow)

I love the Less than therapy suggestion that CC made. Some things are worth adding to the spreadsheet when they make a difference in how you feel about yourself.
I had to stop buying Indian (American) jewelry last year. It was a bit of an obsession and certainly an expensive indulgence. How many turquoise or coral bracelets/earrings does one need anyway?
I don't work and seldom dress up any more. Bad girl me!! (Now mostly reformed)
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

My secret obsession is stationery. Keep me away from Staples. Bar the doors of WHS.. Is there room in my life for one more notebook?
I skulk around stationery departments like an old man in a grubby mac investigating dubious retail outlets in Soho.
I have a great selection of notebooks. Notebooks big, notebooks tiny, notebooks pretty, notebooks with pockets, notebooks lined, notebooks plain..........
Are any of these notebooks written in? Don't be silly. The great project worthy of one of my notebooks hasn't materialised yet.
I also have a great choice of pens, which doesn't mean that I can lay my hands on one that actually works when I need one in a hurry.
Files, staplers, coloured stickers, post-it notes, drawing pins, felt tips, sellotape, rubber bands, letter racks, 'thank-you' cards.....................
Excuse me, I must go and lie down.

Nice perfume. I only ever buy it on offer and I never have more than one bottle on the go at a time (and a bottle lasts me for ages), but it's still a real luxury. I see it as one of those small personal 'treats' that goes a long way to making me feel better about myself! My current scent is Penhaligon's Bluebell - hideously expensive normally but I found my latest bottle on offer at half price
And cook-books. Yup, I have too many of those ...0
