Just read what Daddy is requesting now, I feel sorry the Daughter (also the OP), I feel he has been controlling her whole life and would not let her make her own choices etc.0
-
So, just to be sure I have this right. Completion is tomorrow (Friday)?Gather ye rosebuds while ye may0

(assuming they have spare). If not. take them to EA.
First he isn't the buyer and second you don't hand over until EA is told completion has happened which it probably won't have by the time you have left the house.
Again, apologies if this is obvious. Good luck tomorrow.
Absolutely.
I gave the keys to the EA and phoned them once my legal executive had phoned me to say "Completion has happened" to give them permission to hand them over.
Spare keys were left locked inside the house.0 -

Congratulations on exchange Lichfield! :j Now have a drink with us all, - you have been great throughout this nightmare - a real inspiration!
@ fairylights I Just saw this quote and tried to multiple thank you! lol
I just don't understand why everyone is tolerating this idiot. He has naff all to do with this formally.0 -
Congratulations OP on not buckling to his nonsense and getting exchange.
On his new demands - he's clearly either deluded about the whole process or perhaps mentally ill. Either way, you either move tomorrow or get a pile of money if they don't do it.
As regards tomorrow, you've probably thought of this already, but in case he turns up before time and starts shouting the odds, have you got any well built friends who could come round to just be present whilst you're move out happens?
Enjoy your evening, don't clean anything, and fingers crossed so much for you and the family tomorrow.0 -
Wow, so many lovely comments in the time it's taken me to NOT clean the house and remove the bath plug instead
In answer to some questions - yes, completion is tomorrow, and no, I have ZERO intention of interacting with Daddy Dreadful tomorrow AT ALL. I think he'll keep his distance knowing my husband will be here, but we've agreed between us that if he does show up, my husband will ask him to go away until he hears from the EA that he can collect the keys - from her. I don't intend to speak to him at all - both because I don't think I'd keep my temper and because then he can never say I've promised a thing that I haven't. Plus the husband has a tendency to frighten people what with his eight times a week gym habit and resulting stature
Thanks to all for the good wishes for tomorrow - I promise to pop here at some point to update you on any further Daddy Delusional activity but also to confirm we are safely in our new home!! :j0 -
Like many others I read this thread pre weekend...and it has really kept me entertained all week.
I'm sorry that this means you've had a rather carp week OP - but I was over the moon when I got home from a very long day at work to find the thread had grown by 8 pages....exchange or not I knew I was in for a gripping chapter!!!
I'm no doctor...But I'd hazard a guess that daddy dreadful is the dictionary definition of damn near certifiable!! And I'm almost sure I would be to if I'd had to deal with him...
Congratulations Lichfield ..I can't wait for the next exciting installment tomorrow0 -
Delurking to say I have just inhaled this thread over the course of the last hour and been on the edge of my seat.
OP - your post saying exchange had happened was the first post of a new page for me. I am not ashamed to say I did a quiet cheer for you, fists might have even pumped the air.
Well done! My one regret is that this didn't happen a week ago so I can find out what insanity your buyers come up with next!0 -
lichfield22 wrote: »And the next thing ... He's now phoned the estate agent to say that I'm to hand over the keys to him in person tomorrow, and walk him around the house to explain how everything works. I also need to ring the electrician to find out his availability for next week and have a list of possible times available when he arrives tomorrow.
Isn't this just ..... Remarkable?!
And where is the buyer in all this?!
I did say that this would run beyond exchange.... With respect, I'm thinking:-
Don't let this guy in - he is not the buyer
Don't pay him th money for the electrician, it's not his property
Don't walk him around the property - most people don't again see above
Don't communicate with him and refer him to the EA who can assist him, should he choose.
You are moving out. You are not so inclined and in any event, do not have the time. I can't belive this horrid individual - £90 in coppers? I'd call the real ones for tomorrows episode.0 -

I don't think it'll be an issue anyway. People like him are generally all mouth and no trousers.0
