I think somewhere on the forum is a suggestion that a bit of raw fish carefully inserted into something like a curtain pole provides a particularly appropriate - and lasting - welcome for this kind of new owner.
Just relishing the possibility makes me realise what a thoroughly unpleasant person I really am.
Have a virtual glass of sparkly on me.
Do you have CCTV in my house because I've just worked out how to take the ends off the curtain poles although I can't say why0 -
OP if this is the last issue you have to deal with I'll eat my hat. Good luck and give them h*ll.Pants0

Spent all morning reading this thread and waiting on edge for an update this afternoon!
So pleased it has finally gone through, I hope you can enjoy a large glass (or bottle!) of something to celebrate.
Looking forward to more, no doubt hilarious, requests from them!0 -
Loved this thread , but obviously not the situatiion the idiot buyer and bully daddy put you in.
I am very glad to hear everything is (hopefully) sorted. The Daily Mail

Well done with the exchange.
But no matter how tempted you are to do as some have suggested, I think you're better than that. Just turn everything off, isolate everything you need to for safety reasons and leave nothing that isn't written into the contract. You don't need even more hassle after the event from these jerks.
When is completion now?0 -
Op we had a nightmare. Exchanged in wrong sequence left homeless but in May we financially got our new home 4 month late. It was a complete well mess. But its September now and I would do it all again to get our house. I am sure that by Christmas you will laughing about this. Ok perhaps not laughing but at least looking back with out the feeling of dread.
Only parting shot and for what it is worth I agree moral high ground etc I would agrange for the keys to be collected from the estate agents. The last thing that you want is on the day of the move to your new home, is to have Daddy and his week willed daughter turning up early.
If you can get out mega early and avoid bumping into them. At such a stressful and emotional time ( I was in floods of tears leaving our old house even though it was me pushing to move ) meeting the farther from Hell can make even the strongest of us do uncharacteristic things. .
Honestly over the moon for you. Karma is a !!!!! and I really believe that they will get there just rewards.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Following this thread has brought back all the stress from my last move! Well done OP for sticking with it, I'd probably have killed someone by nowI think somewhere on the forum is a suggestion that a bit of raw fish carefully inserted into something like a curtain pole provides a particularly appropriate - and lasting - welcome for this kind of new owner.
I believe prawns work well, cheap ones of course, very easy and non messy to push a fair way into the poles :rotfl:
Best of luck with completion, hope dear daddy knows when he's beat! :T0 -
Really happy for you! Huge congratulations and my never ending awe at how well you handled this whole thing!0

Aaaaand it's started already! Daddy apparently thinks it's 'disgusting' that I plan to pay for the electrical test by way of an allowance (eg money off the buyer's completion statement) and has demanded I leave cash in an envelope.
Anyone got £90 in coppers they'd like to swap for notes?0 -
So pleased for you lichfield22! Honestly wasn't sure it would happen, and well done on holding your nerve!0
