  • Wrong, they won't as long as you own both computers and are the sole user.
Besides they won't know if you're using them at the same time (It will allow you to activate for both computers regardless of whether it is still installed on the other one).

To clarify, it can be simultaneously installed on both computers, however you have to be the sole user.

This is correct, I found it in the FAQ/T&C's earlier. I would have quoted it directly but I cant find the damn bit now.

Yep, I too can confirm that Microsoft allow a single user to install Office onto two computers (one desktop and one mobile).

It is hard to find in the T&Cs, hence why I asked on here but then posted to say i'd eventually found it - after much head scratching!

It is there though somewhere - like Stubert, I have definitely read it and can't for the life of me find it again now!

Found it!! If you click on the Office ultimate 2007 'Learn more' button and then the tiny FAQ link a the bottom, it is in there:

Can I only install this software on one computer?
As with any Microsoft® Office software you buy at retail, you are licensed one copy of the software for use on one device and are allowed to install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

I got my ac.uk email today from Uni. Do you think I should sign up? i am using their trial version, all looks nice but its well bl**dy hard to get used to but then again wont mind playing around with it till I get the hang of it.

Software will defiently come to use for my Uni course (Business + IT).

Was wondering what all this OpenOffice is about? You say its the same as Microsoft Office, is it EXACTLY the same e.g. colour, layout etc? This offer has been around for a week or two and have kept an eye on it till I got my email address which I did today!!! It also got mentioned by our IT lecture and by the looks of it the whole class is buying it!

Any advise? Reccomendations? What do you have? If you have OpenOffice, is it the same? if different, are the differences major? Which do you prefer? Dont just say 'I'de rather have this because it's free!'

Let me know, seriously considering buying it but dont want to waste £40 odd quid!

    Cheers,

I wondered this but couldn't see the part it offers for £4.95 multiple downloads. Do you have a DVD writer or anything like that? You could turn burn itself probably a lot cheaper.

I personally like Microsoft Office but wouldn't pay normal price for it - this offer though is too good to pass up imo.

It does take some getting used to, I agree. I've been using word for teh last couple of days and am starting to get the hang of the basic stuff though. The referencing facility is great - I love that already!

I didn't think openoffice was anywhere near as good when I tried it (I'd have stuck with Office 2000 rather than swap personally) but it'll be interesting to hear others views.

You could just download openoffice and give it a trial run. The microsoft offer is on until April so there's no huge rush?
