What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 22nd August?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning everyone :hello:

I've been up for an hour and awake for two, so been making good use of my time doing 'admin', may do some proper work for a bit before the rest of the house gets up, to get ahead of myself for the day.

    Today's plans:
Work from home - no commute :)
Pre booked appointment for one set of school shoes - money from clothes piggy
    Meals from planner/ stores
Call and get a bit of additional info on a protection policy to make sure it really is fit for purpose
Renew DH car insurance. Will be with same provider - was going to save about £2 for changing with no cash back so not worth the hassle
Make some appointments for me and the girls
One load of washing done overnight, being up early meant I could get a second done on cheap too. Will hang out shortly
Updated my plan for September list and reviewed my August plan/annoying things list
Check banking system, surveys and FPL
Check musc1e f00d for offers as I'll likely need to order some meat for next week.

Right, off for coffee number 2.

    Morning all,
This week needs to be both money-saving and efficient. I've got off to a good start as did a load of laundry overnight on cheap tariff & did 'rubber pork' last night to stretch it to a lunch & another meal.
I have a long challenging list for the week ahead & am aiming not to spend much time online. I shall be keeping the MSE faith though, you can be sure of that!
    Have a productive week, friends.

    Thanks for the start PF

Was a bit annoyed to wake up to someone from ebay saying the items he was interested in arent in good enough condition. Some collectors seem to have ridiculously high standards.

Yorkshire re pub cleaners, have heard the same thing about street cleaners. And dustmen.

Today I have the children all day. OH is going to leave a bit early so I can get to my trial shift ok. I am going to make him a thai green curry to have whilst Im out. Then depending on whether they offer to feed me ( I always got dinner for free in my last evening job) I might have some late this evening.

I am hoping this week will see us finally complete on the new mortgage as that has been dragging on for weeks now...

Legomum Hope you guys got home ok and Dawn & BB you are feeling better.

  • Morning all :hello:
Good luck with the new job today DNMS - thinking of you :D
Thanks for the poll as well Ally - I have cast my vote.
It's bucketing down outside so I'm really pleased that I don't have any dog walks etc to do today - although I am still catsitting for another week for bestie. Best go and let them in soon as they will be grumpy after an all nighter in this rain.
So today will be quiet and indoors I think - here are the plans...
    :cheesy: check banking and PAD
:cheesy: update my signature on here as I've been padding and not updating
:cheesy: make a phone call (big deal for me as I hate talking to people on the phone)
:cheesy: LSD (we need bread and milk today)
:cheesy: meal plan for the week ahead
    :cheesy: hoover through
    :cheesy: exercise
    :cheesy: crochet
That will do for now - have a good one

    Hi August Awesome-ees,

I'll be mostly on the sofa this morning resting.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Drop tv off at IT repair shop. Hoping it's just a broken capacitor. If it's the screen we'll need a replacement tv. I couldn't get the stubborn back off the tv to see, hence taking thing to the local, independent shop. No way are we sending it to landfill if we can avoid it.

    * It's not going to be as sunny as we hoped tomorrow so we're not going to catch the ferry over to the beach on the Isle of Bute. It's pouring with rain. We got cheap tickets to the theatre instead to see an Agatha Christie. £15 each in the front row of the Upper Circle.
Will take our own snacks and drinks in which will be bought with M&S loyalty vouchers. We'll take the train into Glasgow it's £2 dearer than driving but so much less hassle. We'll spend our entertainment budget on a meal out but will find somewhere rasonably priced.

    * Visit GoMA, free art museum before we go to the theatre.

Live long, live well and prosper.

    Hi everyone
Thanks for starting us off PF :T
Oooh, exciting times with the new job DNMS!!
Nice one on the voting thingy Ally - exciting! :D

I'm working from home too today. :)

Dinner yesterday was lovely and you'll never guess what - forgot to buy gravy so OH made some and it was delicious. :) There are lots of leftovers so will need to get some meal planning done to make sure we use them up. Veg and chicken today and then got lots of ham to use up too.

This is my last week at work this week - so looking forward to a holiday!!

    Need to sort YNAB.
Not much to do today tbh - will be nice! :T

Oh, also found out my friend is pregnant so I'm going to have a nosey for things to crochet - thinking a sleep suit/blanket type thing. Will defo get a free pattern on ravelry.

    xxx
