35 year old man. Getting married soon and we both know that we do not want children. I am considering a vasectomy, and just wondering about familiar experiences. I understand it can be quite painful for a while after the operation, how painful? Any other after effects? Just wondering about general experience.
Obviously I'll be talking to a doctor, but it takes a long time to get an appointment, like weeks!

What's your reasons for getting it, just curious?
Something I've considered, but ultimately I'm on the fence.0 -
I'm having mine done (under sedation as I'm awkward with my allergies), my appointment is mid October.
All my brothers have had it done, I don't know how long they waited but they weren't really in pain afterwards, just a bit achey. After a few weeks (I've been told eight), you then give a sample so they can confirm the procedure has worked.
My doctor has said some people can experience aching for quite a few weeks and your chance of getting a hydrocele is a little higher which were the main two side effects.0 -
I had to be done twice - the first time I went back to work straight away, agony. The second I had a couple of days off - much easier. If the wife fell pregnant after being 'done' twice, we'd have called it Houdini.0

I didn't have to pay for the second procedure (private, Marie Stopes in Reading), buy one, get one free.0

You might find you're too young to have one as you don't have children.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I have heard of one or two men getting an infection and needing antibiotics afterwards.
(Not sure if it's better to go private or use the NHS.. )0 -

You went private. The NHS will have guidelines as to who is eligible, age and whether you already have children may be part of the criteria. OP would need to check the guidelines for his area.0
