Too much fruit today and not enough veg - strawberries and banana for breakfast (1), cauliflower, broad beans, carrots, peas (3) and strawberries & raspberries for lunch, vegetable sauce and salad (5) and stewed apricots (6) for supper. So only 4 veg and 3 fruit. May have to buy veg tomorrow and start interfering with the cooking...

Much better today! I didn't each much but applied myself to eating fruit and veg over other stuff.

I started the day with a portion of red grapes, then one of carrot batons, two of cherry tomatoes and one of stewed apple at lunchtime (all in an effort to get rid of the odds and ends in my fridge).

This evening I made a light dinner for the family. I had one and a half bags of salad with roasted veg antipasti and lots of olives. (I also ate a few crisps for added interest, but gave the vino a miss :D).

    Making today a 5:2 day.

Lunch today was at 10.30am - smoked and white fish, rice and kale:D.

I had a big portion of rataotuille at 2pm (350g so 4 portions) and fruit and toasted hazelnuts with chocolate 'mousse' at 6pm - bananas and apples. 5 a day portions = apples and the dates that sweetened the mousse.

    Totals today: 5:2.

I saved this webpage some time back and don't know why I've not got round to trying anything by her yet. But her recipes are heavily plant-based (being vegan) and they all look both delicious and easy (which is more than can be said for many vegan recipes I've come across...).

So - must get trying some of them....

Being away from home is NOT good for me. However, I gave my mother a spiraliser today (late b'day present) so used that as an excuse to replace tagliatelle with courgette for lunch.

Breakfast - banana/blueberry/apricot porridge (1), lunch - courgette, tomato, cucumber (3) plus fruit salad (4), supper - lettuce, tomato, radish, cucumber (6). So 4 veg 2 fruit. Not bad, and at least there was a certain amount of variety even if quantities were rather small.

Do tomatoes count as a veg or a fruit? I've been counting them as veg, but technically they're a fruit, aren't they?

    This is getting complicated now...

I had that thought about both tomatoes and carrots (as they are sweet)! But have erred in the side of veg for my own personal intake.

Yesterday was another poor day, 0:2 in the form of 2 portions of stewed apples (no sugar). I have days when I eat very little, in which case getting any veg in at all - let alone five a day - is just not possible.
