Wow, I'm so glad this thread exists. Me and my OH have set a challenge of making sure we get at least our 5 a day for a month, any day we fail and we have to pay a fine, which will go in a pot that the money from can only be used to buy fruit and veg.
Been doing this since the 15th of August and whilst our portion sizes may not add up exactly, we have eaten at least five different veg and fruits.
Today had banana (1) and Nectarine (2) for Breakfast, Yellow Split Pea soup for lunch made with Pulses (3), carrots (4), Sweet Potato (5) and Spinach (6) and will have sweetcorn and courgette on my pizza later (small amounts so will count as 1 combined)
Total v:f = 5:2
Thanks for starting this thread, it will really keep me motivated. I don't want to pay a fine!Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

I just had dinner - huge plate of ratatouille with two boiled eggs followed by an orange. I'm going to call it four portions of veg. I worked through lunch so nothing to eat earlier.
Total today 4:1.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Nil by mouth since midnight due to voice box surgery. It has left me sore so only had a little cup of soup.
I'll try to eat loads of veg the next few days.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

1 banana for breakfast, nectarine and pear for lunch, half a veg pizza and loads of salad ,lettuce, spring onions, peppers, cucumber, tomato, lime and chillies, with a hand full of nachos
Otherwise 1.5lt water and 3 black coffee
so 3 fruit 7 veg
Doing this has made me realise I need more iron and probably more calcium to,so need to work out what I need to do ..£223/ £250 GC0 -

My day turned out to be 2:2. I am so far off track at the moment, am eating the fruit so I get something rather than nothingValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

If you follow the so called rules I probably just about make my 5 a day but if you count the actual fruit/veg I eat I double that easily treble somedays.
I don't believe in all this fruit juice can only count as one portion no matter how much you drink or smoothies don't count nonsense. Ok juice is not the best way to consume it but if 1 serving is one portion of fruit then 2 servings = 2 portions and with smoothies you can blend the whole fruit and therefore getting the full nutrients so how is that any difference to chewing it? its a bit like saying soup doesn't count if its blended so I do count every portion regardless.
today rule total= 5 veg/1 fruit true total= 5 veg/7 fruitthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

Because we have different incomes and fruit and veg is so cheap we have set the rate just at 20p per person. We do count Orange juice, well my OH does, I don't tend to drink it, and there was one day where my OH had had 4 f&v and was drinking orange juice at 11.59pm and i was shouting 'You have to drink it all before midnight otherwise you failed! Drink up!' :rotfl:Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Well I failed spectacularly again today - but that's because I ate mushrooms on toast at 4.30pm, nothing else apart from tea and coffeeValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Didn't start the day well (yogurt and granola and coffee, rather later than planned). Managed to improve things at lunch - aubergine and lentil burger (2), tomato, lettuce, pepper and cucumber salad (5), and continue in the evening (cucumber, watermelon and feta salad (7), tomato (8), avocado (9) and courgette (10). And I weighed everything, so although some may not have been a whole portion, others were over. And there was plenty of variety. And only one fruit (if we're counting, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, aubergine and avocado as veg).0
