I still cannot confirm my expenses as my hours have still not been authorised. Boo! 🙄
I am taking DH out on a date to the cinema to see Odyssey this afternoon. It is 3 hours long, we are going just before 3pm, he will complain it is too cold, too loud, too long, (too wide, and too hard as well probably!) and that the seats look like leather. The noise level will hurt his ears. But it will be terribly romantic and hopefully he will love it, all the costumes and drama and homo-erotic glances. I am sure I see a totally different film to everyone else! I'm just there for the flapping skirts and well toned thighs (I am a peasant, a cultural desert, oh the shame! 🤣).

I really enjoyed the film. I thought i had booked the back row, but had booked the front row so had the air conditioning straight in my face. Will be better prepared for it next time. Why do cinemas book front to back but theatres book back to front?
Did I mention I got a ticket to SIX in January for a tenner? Restricted view of course, but still, a tenner!

Sat facing the back wall? Behind a pillar? No leg room? Out in the lobby???
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Who knows! It looked perfectly fine to me, definitely in the room, I am only 5' 5" so leg room is not an issue. Facing the right way on the side, like where a royal box would be. £10!

Packed off DH to his writing workshop
Had a conversation with DS1 about finding work at one of the 3 local hospitals, so he could ride his bike to work and save himself £6 a day, he is suddenly quite motivated. The penny has dropped. He is off to Spain at the weekend with friends, has cleared his overdraft, and looks like he is starting to live his life. It has taken him a while, but C0vid didn't help, and finding himself on the wrong course at Uni didn't help, but he is interested in looking into NHS apprenticeships, which is a huge step forward to the passive nonsense he has been engaging in for the last 3 years. Progress!!
I have applied for festival work for this Summer, the employer is annoying, you get a message there are shifts available from 9-4pm you apply, you get told they are fully staffed and you will go on the backup list. I will keep applying, so far yesterday I thought I was booked for 3 jobs, but checking online I am on the backup list for all of them.
Today I am going to clean the rest of my house - I have worked 3 out of the last 4 weeks full time at events. DH's crafting mess and camping nonsense has crept into every single room. I have told him it is unbearable, it is unacceptable, he has filled his study on the top floor, he has filled the back room, the living room floor is now covered in fabric and embroidery threads and a dressmakers dummy and cloth bags he is making for an event he is attending. He leaves things lying and moves on to the next project (cold wax resist dyeing) but 'that new necessary item' has not been delivered yet, so that gets left lying where it falls until all bits are delivered.
How am I supposed to build a workshop into a terraced house with no outdoor space?
He is the product of his family, hoarders all, who do not recognise it in themselves.
I am too embarrassed to get a boiler service done until the back room is sorted out. Which is dangerous.

Would you like me to speak to your DH about the mess I have been left with? It sounds exactly how it was here especially as I had long since given up on objecting. 23 months and I am still clearing outdoor and hobby stuff.

Could I give you his parents number first? His Aunt ended up getting 2 of those reinforced cabins for her back garden to store all her stuff (3 bed house, 2 adult occupants), his parents have crammed their house, their workshop, their potting shed, their barn, and 2 metal shipping containers (5 bed house, 2 adult occupants), his Uncle had car parts and a disassembled motorbike in the downstairs rooms of their house, the basement of an office building, plus a lock up garage. They are all in their late 70's - except the Uncle who died suddenly leaving the Aunt in your situation, plus having his business to deal with, and she just gave the keys away in lieu of alleged unpaid 'money owed' . All the family photos, family history, his collections of things just given to his 'friends' so she didn't have to deal with it. I totally understand why she did it, but then she kept herself surrounded by his clutter in the house.
I think because I was away for those 3 weeks I am seeing it with fresh eyes. I really want to just be able to have a room in my house where I can invite people into, but I can't because I don't know if I am going to come home to a 4' expanded foam sculpted Octopus being carved on the living room carpet, or a set of priests robes being cut out on every spare inch of flooring.
I know it is a hiding response to the changes at work. All the people who have taken vol. redundancy, or who have been made redundant, or who have taken early retirement, or who have been moved on to teaching only contracts. The teaching term is due to start on 17th, and then he will be exhausted and overwhelmed and it will be enormous stress and damage limitation to get through to Christmas. Plus DS3 may be swanning off to Uni and DH likes to know where his little chicks are at night.
But it is no flippin excuse!! He needs to put things away and tidy up.

I can easily become like Dr FH. I have a rule that I'm only allowed 2 live projects out at any one time - in my case the large tapestry and my current knitting project. Everything else is either tidily consolidated and stacked on the side board or upstairs in my Craft Room. (I am aiming to clear the sideboard as it happens.)
Perhaps suggest this to Dr FH, agree what the 2 projects are and then EVERYTHING else goes upstairs to his study, even if it becomes rammed?

Sorry, forgot to say! Well done for DS1 starting to find his way. Really pleased for all of you as I know what a source of tension it has been in the house.
Any news on DS2?
