You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Drowning it is not an option either, although technically possible, it is not to be recommended.

Tomorrow should be payday. Which will be lovely.

Ds1 has received his log on card, is currently picking up his ID card, and has discovered that all shifts will be offered and confirmed via wotsup, and only wotsup. He is very surprised the NHS is organised around that app.

But I get notifications of work via that app for 2 of my 5 employers. It seems this is the modern 0 hrs contract way of the world right now.

My 🇮🇪 passport is due to be processed today. Not holding my breath but would love to be pleasantly surprised.

Irish Passport has gone to print and has been posted. Yay! I cant stake out the letterbox as I am in Godivaland every day from tomorrow til Friday night. Driving backwards and forwards each day. So i will have a lovely surprise when I get home one night this week.

I have been in the shed. Removed all rusted dismantled metal shelving units that have been dumped in there. They are currently on the roadside under my hedge (so not in anyone's way) but visible to Mr Scrappy the scrap man when he drives past. They will disappear at some point.

Made a big ratatouille to use up my free courgettes, aubergines, red peppers, olives, garlics and red onions. Had it with fried leftover rice last night, froze 1 portion, have made a puff pastry tart with it and added cheeses 🧀 for tonight, still have 2 or 3 portions left in the fridge. While the oven was on I made a chocolate cake and a puff pastry, pear, apple and mincemeat tart because, well, it's nearly Christmas! and Im feeling festive bacause I can now walk into the shed. I do not have my🎄 up yet.

DH is off camping this weekend plus one day early for one of the campers birthday party as well. We will be lucky if we are both awake and in the same place at the same time for more than an hour until next Saturday. Ships that pass in the night.

Busy Week, but after this I have nothing booked in job wise unti September which is one job after another after another.

One week until it is August!

He has 3 shifts this week! He has figured out that he gets double time on Sundays, so nearly £180, which has motivated him to get his butt in gear. So he is going to Spain for a week to see a 100% eclipse with his friends, hopefully Madrid will have stopped burning by then. His very small overdraft will be paid off next wages on Friday, and he has asked my advice on savings accounts and the NHS pension.

Not the same kid (well 23 yr old) who claimed he was 'looking for work' for the last 3 years, he has admitted as much.

The first wage packet of 2 weeks money was a game changer. DS3 is claiming all the credit cos he got work first (he worked for 4 days and has not applied for anything since) he gets his exam results mid August.

Oh, and DS1 is very excited about PM 'AB' capping the bus tickets at £2 because he gets 2 buses to work and it will save him £4

I have been leaving the house at 6.10am so have not been near a computer for a week. Ridiculously long days, the latest I got home was 9.45pm. Everyone seemed happy though.

DH is a star and has kept everyone fed and alive. DS1 and DH made sure his bike from the shed is in good working order, and DS1 went off on a practise run with it this morning. He is totally unfit, and will be going out again tomorrow for another little ride, it will save him money even if he only rides it into the city and then catches a bus to the hospital in another town. It will help him lose some weight too. Fitter, healthier, and wealthier all in one fell swoop.

As it is the weekend, DH's contribution did not land in my bank account, and I will have to wait until Monday, when all the bills come out as well, and the building society can transfer my interest payment. So on Monday I will be flush, but things are a bit tight this weekend as I stupidly transferred £900 to the Building Fund from my wages, and the taxman has been mucking about with which of my jobs has my tax free allowance, and has just picked one at random that so far has paid me the princely sum of £80. So instead of £0 going in tax, £200+ has disappeared, and another £150+ will go for last week's work. I am still waiting for the repayment of the tax taken from me in error for work done last August.

The back yard has been planted up, some plants moved, a few cuttings taken, a few overcrowded areas thinned out a bit. I have tomatoes, cucumbers, an embryonic courgette, some beans and lots of herbs so far. So far, so good.

I am trying to avoid having to do a tiny shop tomorrow. Supper tonight was baked potatoes - 30 minutes in an air fryer for 9 perfectly cooked big spuds - beans, a naked coleslaw, salad and cheese. Lunch was the leftover ratatouille from last weekend that has lived happily in the fridge all week. It was perfectly fine. God knows how.

Tomorrow will be a veggie stew with dumplings to get rid of a lot of things that have been knocking around the fridge for over a week. Then I will do a select small shopping trip on Monday when there is a lot more room in the cold cupboard, and I have had a look at what is gone from the freezer. That is the plan anyway.

Hopefully my hours will have been confirmed so that I can claim my expenses before Tuesday, which is the deadline for payment the following week.
