Two massive stock pots and a jam pan have left the house today, gone off to be used by a jammer and bottler.

The china tea sets are being picked up on Monday by a lady who thinks it is beautiful.

Picked up some work next Saturday at a different festival to the Thursday one.

GCSE results were much much better than anticipated.

8 in Computer Science (old school A grade)

7 in Physics (old school A grade)

6's in English (last prediction was a 3 (??) so whoop whoop - an old school B)

Maths ( he actually missed a page)

and Biology.

5s in Business / English Lit /Geography and Chemistry (old school solid C or O level PASS )

He then got Shanghaiied and wasn't allowed to leave until he had signed up for A levels. They blocked the exit. So I was in the car park texting with him to get them to allow him resit his Maths paper asap so he could do all of the pages this time and to see his transcript. They agreed.

An A at Maths is better than a B, as DS3 found out this week as his BBB results would not get him onto a couple of Uni courses without an A at Maths GCSE and he scraped in with a 4 (low C but still just about a pass)

So it is looking like A Level Maths (again) Physics (again) and Chemistry (again), so I have dug out the study guides from previous students of this household and he has been gleefully shoving his geography coursework folders into the recycling bags. At least his room should be tidier.

DS1 is busy working and making plans, since he came back from his big grown up eclipse holiday in Spain. He mentioned he might move into a house share if his friend moves to Le'stah. So possibly, in the moderately near future, we might be a household of 4 instead of 6. Which will be totally utterly mind-bendingly weird.

Well done on the GCSE grades and it made me smile that they wouldn’t let him out of the building until he’d signed up to A levels! 😉

I have been playing with numbers, and I think i could be a Eighth of a Millionaire by Xmas. It sounds so much less than a Quarter of a Millionaire, but it's a step towards the goal, and a new school year is a good time for Resolutions. There is a third of 2026 left, and such a lovely time scale goal to aim for.

Obviously if I can find a tradesman to actually do what I want without quoting 70k+ (not including kitchen or bathroom fitting or supplying, or electrics or plastering) then I will be content to merely be a Sixteenth of a Millionaire with a nice bathroom and kitchen.

The sourdough starter I abandoned in the fridge for 3 weeks has, like Lazarus, arisen and continues on its way. 2 loaves baking in the oven right now. Yesterday's loaf was baked at 10am and gone before 3pm. At least I know what is in it and it costs pennies to make.

I am taking DS4 'college kid' shopping for clothes today. He has chunked up over summer - playing computer games and eating crisps. Tomorrow his bike reemerges and off he will go. Of course the weather forecast is pants. 🌧 🌩. Typical. I binned his backpack 🎒 weeks ago. He has not noticed. He has not even considered notepads or pens or folders. No forward planning going on in #4's world. Twit.

I will be pitching my tent tomorrow afternoon and sleeping over to start my 7.30am shift at Festival #1 on Thursday. It is not due to be cold, but heavy showers and possible thunder. All good fun! Then moving to a different Festival for Friday and Saturday, and then back to Festival #1 for Monday. I will try and pick up an extra shift for the Sunday while I am there. Neither of them is more than 30 minutes from the house.

Energy DD rebate is due tomorrow .

Tax rebate is due before October.

Still no work booked between October and the start of February, when bizarrely I already have 2 full weeks booked in back to back that month. 🙃

2nd cup of coffee ☕️ time, and waiting for bread to bake and DS4 to get his pants on!!

I'm missing something - if the job is less than 30 minutes from home, why oh why are you camping in such grim weather??! 🤣 (Not a camping person here … 😉)

After working 7.30am - 10pm I am not going to want to drive home, definitely not in a rainstorm or thunderstorm (eek!). The 2 venues are only 16 minutes apart by car, so I am being environmentally conscientious innit? 😄 🌳 ⛺️ 🌳 ⛈️ 🌩 ⛈️

I am camping for 3 whole nights, Wed/Thurs /Fri, so can't really complain. I will be home by 6.30 on Saturday. It does me no harm to rough it for a couple of days. Then I am in my own bed until Wednesday the following week when I am off for another 4 nights camping at Festival #3 where I will be found behind the bar. 🎪 🍸 🍸 in a circus style big top tent, nice and warm and dry. Huzzah! But that is September, and we are not yet into the -bers.

Spent £120 and came home with a bag, a waterproof coat, 3x hoodies, 5x t-shirts, and 3x pairs jeans and a very happy DS4. DH serviced the bike while we were out. So we are pretty much set for college tomorrow.

Day 1 at the big hippie festival it was dry

Day 2 at the big hippie festival it chucked it down until 11.30 am, then cleared up until about 9.30 pm so the campers got where they needed to be, only 2 vans broke down in the queue. We had all the lightning but no rain until the very end of my shift when it chucked it down for about 20 minutes then got bored and went elsewhere. My little £25 tent is watertight, well done little tent. Spent £0 while I was there.

Day 3 at the Americana Yee-Haw! festival was wet in parts, but also dry in parts, and there was a very nice manager who made announcements over our radios like ' Nope, it's too wet, go and sit in your car until the rain stops' so at least there were decent breaks, and between my charity shop (unused fleece lined waterproof) poncho and my 'rescued' umbrella I was not really cold or too horrifically wet. I have danced in the rain, met some lovely people, and laughed far too much to really call it work. The man in the posh coffee van also brought me free coffee because it was wet and I was still smiling and happy. £0 spent

Day 4 at the Yee-Haw! was mostly wet for the first 6 hours, but there was precious little to do, so a lot of standing around chatting went on. I had a lovely time. After my shifts I wandered round the festival, watching happy people doing happy stuff, or grumpy people sliding in mud or being surprised that it might have the temerity to rain on them while they were pretending to be cowboys. 2 Non Blondes were very good (there used to be 4 - shrinkflation possibly? or maybe government cuts?) and I was horrified at how many of The Shires' songs I had heard. All the obvious Dolly tributes. Ronny Wood and Imelda May were good too. First Time Flyers were rather jolly. I misheard Steve Earle, (twice) oops, I thought he sang he left his horse in South Yorkshire ( it was a long drawn out Caw - liii- Fawwnire apparently) and then I couldn't stop giggling as I had an image of him wandering around Sheffield asking if anyone had seen his horse? Anyway I laughed a lot, probably at all the wrong things, but nobody else knew why I was laughing so nobody got hurt. Spent £0

Drove home and was back here at 6pm and had a lovely bath and slept in my fluffy bed, chilled day today, paid another NI gap with my wages from the last Graduation Job (only 6 years left to fill) but I know last year's shortfall is going to be cheaper than the gaps that are left, and this year will be less than last year, and anyway, I have until 2030 to pay the next expiring one, so I will shelve that for a bit longer now. 2 years were paid off this month anyway. Just in case we flee this country, I want to be prepared.

Tomorrow I am back at the Hippie Festival for a short 9 hour shift - herding people out of the site - and then I am off until Thursday when I head North to part of Sherwood Forest to work behind a bar for 3 days. There will be precious little spent there as well, as we are fed and watered 3x a day. Really looking forward to it. I am loving my Summer of Festivals. It doesn't feel like work, and I am now prepared to do it next year Yee-Haw!
