The family dynamic ( speaking as a totally unbiased 'married in' member) is f-ing hilarious.  
Walked over 12km in -4. I have now been to the Cavern Club. The Liverpool museum is fab. So much stuff to look at. 
Poor DH is in agony with his knee and with biting his tongue.  This is literally pure torture for him.  
But there are so many over 70s in the family now, and we can't only meet at funerals.  He has done his bit for the next decade 😂

Everyone behaved perfectly - mil mentioned DS1s weight, uncle in law mentioned DS4 looks like a girl (?),  DH told mil to behave. We didn't start a fight and 80th birthday girl had a great time surrounded by more family than she ever imagined would rock up.  So all in all a good time. I think it has probably cost me about £600 and DH about £200 + diesel.  But then again, you don't celebrate an 80th everyday.

That's a good party - and 80 is my target !!  All for under a grand!!.  In other news I am having a mandatory health check from my work - in which I will be told to be less plump and more fit and work pays a similar sum for that excellent advice

Well the 3 x hotel rooms took up most of the money to be fair, but DS1 had no money left after NY in London so I ended up spending an extra £20 for his breakfasts, then DS2 admitted he had left his cash card in his dressing gown while he was packing, so that was another £20, but that did mean free kids breakfasts x 2 for DS3 and DS4 and any other kid I could find who needed feeding (plus drinks for their bottles and pots of yoghurts and fruit for snacks). I had only expected to be buying for me and DH but it ended up being £80.  

Somehow I always ended up buying the coffees  and alcohol for my in laws - they just walked in and sat down and started chatting!  Luckily they really like W'spoons so at least it was not too horrific, but I was very surprised at them.

 Let's make a pact - if anyone  is rude enough to mention our weight .... we are allowed to eat them!

Just found out Invisible Work Friend had her expenses paid before Christmas. I am still waiting for mine. It is a bl00dy good job I am not reliant on the money. But that is really not the point.
Not feeling valued right now.

Sent off an email at 9am to the relevant person asking for confirmation that they have received the claim, and asked when it would be paid.........Radio silence all day.
