Hi, just delurking to say ds3 might be able to resit at a local community college while also studying for A levels. Might be worth asking.

They won't let him in with 4s to start the A levels, they want 5s. Computer says no.

At the minute it is looking like Business Admin & Law at Btec or Business and Finance.
 So of course DH read an article about Labours new plan to stop Btecs from next year - joy! 
This after a 30 yr old Environmental post grad college in Devon went bust this week with 30 staff. It is niche, it was small, but it was affiliated to the university of Plymouth and it is only the first. Labour have said the sector must sort themselves out, with larger student intakes to balance the books, but foreign student numbers are down, and it won't be long before a big name crumbles.  Watch this space...
So stress levels are increasing in the household.
Anyway, DS3 has an appointment with the connexions service next week, and the big college event on Saturday.  He WILL have something to go into... just not his first choice of study path.  He just has to try things. He is not finished yet.  It is just annoying to have to wait. I suppose it is because the schools have started back, it feels like we are wasting time, but grown up colleges have different timetables I suppose. 
So we distracted him with the new elves programme last night.  It is very pretty. 💍 👑.

Not surprised that places will go bust as they all rely heavily on the overseas market for students.

Managed to score another day of work with a cheeky email saying I was free that day should they need anyone else... 😁
All looking good to be hitting the £10k bathroom budget target at the end of this month.  I have no excuses left for not booking it in.... except Nick Knowles' whole 35+ year career of telling me that all builders will wreck my house ...  Terrifying 🤢 😱  but it needs doing and it needs doing asap.  Big girl pants on order ...
Christmas has hit the stores, and the charity shops too - the festive jumpers are on the rails! It has been good in one respect, the g/f d/f chocolates and snacks bars have been reduced, probably to clear space for the Xmas themed ones.  They are now residents of my pantry.  It will save me some money on the lunch boxes for the next couple of weeks.

You don't need house wrecking builders unless you want major structural things done. You just need bathroom fitters! Just had a shower room redone by the lovely bathroom shop people in town   Everything out, an alarming looking hole leading into the eaves blocked off, all leaky pipes replaced, new loo, shower and basin, lovely vanity cabinet, new flooring and tiles. All perfect. All I had to do was paint a few little bits - and pay for it all of course!
