October Plans
Okay, one mortgage destroying win for KK ordered from the PB 🧚💫. Fun money win for me would be nice too.
Tomorrow is meter reading day. I fixed last month so beat the price hike.
Just going to be cleaning and clearing today while I am free to roam in all but one bedroom. Lazy start to the morning 🌄 two nice coffees consumed. The rain is piddling down outside. Seen DH1, DS4, and DS1 out the door. DS3 is hunting socks 🧦 and just about to leave.
Time to get on with stuff.

It didn't happen. DS2 first appeared downstairs at 7pm. Hopeless!!
DS3 has booked me for computer chair shopping tomorrow.
The in-laws have realised that their kids are going to get hit with 36% inheritance tax on the majority of their inheritance when they pop off. Ireland has a system whereby each beneficiary is liable for the tax, not the estate. They also have set amounts you can leave children, lesser set amounts you can leave grandchildren, and lesser lesser amounts you can leave non relatives ( such as daughters in law) before you pay the tax......They also charge 10% if you are more than 2 months late with paying said tax...... Plus a daily rate if you still don't cough up in time........There is also not a 7yr rule for gifts.
You get a certain amount you can inherit in a lifetime (329,000 I think), and once that amount is breached, then it is 36% on any other inheritance from anyone else ever.
Why the heck they never thought of this before I really don't know. Oh yes, because it is theirs!! They don't want to spend it, but lie there like Smaug on his mountain of gold coinage. Now they have realised the taxman is going to get a fat wodge, they want me to start opening bank accounts for my kids - but not to tell them. Well 3 of them are over 16 and I can't open bank accounts for adults!! Silly ridiculous people 🤯 🤯 They took proper financial advice from a proper inheritance tax avoidance person last week and the advisor was very very cross with them both. They got told off!!!
DH further annoyed them by saying he was in favour of inheritance tax and he would just pay what was due. People ought to pay taxes for the good of society. So they are now livid with him as well. Other people's families are so funny!? 🤣 People are just weird. My step-gran had everyone convinced she hadn't a bean! Her sister in Canada was horrified she was sat on so much money but was always so flippin' mean with it. It was all an act!! Wicked old biddy.
The in-laws are horrified at the idea there will be any inheritance tax. I swear they think they are Royalty or something.
This saga is going to run and run!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have some sympathy with DH’s position…. 😉
Maybe start banging a bin lid outside DS 2’s bedroom door mid morning or bribe him with his favourite food?

3 x winning bonds means £100 extra for me in October . That means I am currently on a smidge under 4% return with 2 draws left to go - £1,900 has been received so far this year - not to be sniffed at. Thanks PB fairy. Tax free income.
I have had a quick look and I am currently going to earn just over £5k from paid employment this tax year. Hopefully a few more bits will come up before then. I really want to be able to qualify for tax! That would mean I have earned a proper wage for the first time in 21 years.
DH is 50 today. He is still lovely. He is also still asleep. He wants nothing.
I will make cinnamon rolls and put in the fridge overnight for breakfast tomorrow ( not his birthday so technically not a birthday cake).
I might make an ironic jelly, a nod to the 70's, the decade taste forgot.... With orange segment goldfish swimming in it 😂🤣. All that is missing is that bl00dy rabbit shaped plastic mold and instant whip ( a clue in yesterday's Guardian quick crossword that DH didn't understand - might be a class thing 🤣).
It is still raining.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Happy 50th birthday to Dr F-H. Hopefully the cinnamon rolls make it through to morning - I know you have mentioned before how food disappears during the night ...... 🤣🤣3
