f0xh0les said:It was exactly as expected. We got there before 6am, we left after 10pm. I managed 2 x 20 minute long breaks. It was manic. We got through it. I might have sat down for ten minutes out of the other 15h50 mins.
Have a relaxing weekend or are you working?

Currently enjoying frothy coffee in hotel. Breakfast is included so have come in search of caffeine. Sadly I know Invisible Work Friend only got to bed 4 hours ago and was wasted. Does not bode well for an early start home.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Roll on payday on Monday!!
I took out £100 in cash today to keep in the house in case of an emergency / card issues. Somehow I still have £150 left in September's budget, I also have £50 expenses coming back to me tomorrow, £150 next Tuesday, and £85 the Tuesday afterwards. Work has been great though. I found out the extra sales generated from one of the last jobs we did were "impressive" . Nice to hear.
All food for the rest of the month has been bought and all meals planned for.
Feeling good, considering I literally have 4 days of work booked for the rest of the year.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well done on getting the sons in a line and focused, very much like herding cats
Annoying re the results but maybe the college is a better focus anyway
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

DS3 seems to be loving college, which is nice. He also gets to eat lunch in town 3 days a week, which might be a major draw for him.Sent off a cheeky email to work last night - expense claim in the post, photo of a receipt, anything coming up in the New Year? - got two more jobs at the start of next year, which is nice. Turns out Invisible Work Friend has already been asked to do them.Hope it does not annoy the people who usually get these jobs, they are slightly older, and have started to travel a lot more, they have done it for years though. Don't want to look like the bad guy - I think I care too much about other people's feelings sometimes. I have work lined up and it fits in with my schedule. I am happy.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Booked a bulky waste collection to be rid of part of a sofa, 2 office chairs, and a chest of drawers, they will be collected on Monday, so will be out of the house on Sunday. Currently they are cluttering up the place, but it is progress. Messy progress! 6 bags of too small clothes, and a couple of bags of books got recycled yesterday as well. Things are moving out of this house. Will continue with that today. If only tidying happened as quickly as you can mess up a room!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Yaay for DS 3 settling in well at college. Sounds like that was a really good choice for him 😊
What are DSs 1 and 2 getting up to atm ….?It’s a difficult balance when you have to ‘hustle’ a bit for work slots. I suspect that there is no right answer here so I will be glad that you have got the slots that you want 😊
Well done on the decluttering 😊 I’m trying to do the same in my potting shed and it looks like the plastic plant pots are having a rave in there atm …. 😬🙄😂

DS1 is going to his NHS course Mon-Fri 9-5 he now has every ihasco safety training certificate in existence, and is confused about how many 'normal' things his fellow course mates cannot do. I think it may be building up his confidence in his own abilities 🙏🙏. Maybe he will have a job before his birthday this month.🙏🙏
DS2 was 20 yesterday. He will be my next project. Only another 4 years till his brain is fully developed.🙏🙏
One of my octogenarians is still not well enough to come back to volunteering 😕. If he doesn't come back this week then his wife is going to drag him to the Dr. I think he needs it. He will be 85 this year 🤔 he can't be mucking about.
Dr F-H took himself off and got a COVID vaccination at ," 🥾the Chemist" on Friday night. He rang around 15 chemists who all sounded surprised, and said they had nothing planned but that it was probably a good idea, and to ring back in a couple of weeks. Well he doesn't have a couple of weeks before he gets on his plane for the US research think-tank thing! He got it the same day for £100 about 5 miles away. So he is feeling rough, as usual, but is recovering nicely with his lemon-flavoured-paracetamol-based-cold-relief-drink-powders ©️. They have removed the lactose from Mr Liiidls ones again.
It is one less thing for him to fret about. One more thing he can control. Teaching starts back tomorrow. All those kids, all those germs, all that 'mingling ' . 🤢 He needs all the help he can get.
Today the bulky items are leaving the house for collection tomorrow. Sadly I have lost two tarpaulins to these collections so far - despite ticking the "please don't take my tarp" box. They won't take wet items (except for tarps, obvs).
It appears DS3 wants to take the bus to college and the bicycle is no longer in favour So I am going to shed it and reclaim another bit of the cramped hallway. One less thing to skewer my ribs on, but one more expense!
I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if he came home and announced he had found himself a part time Xmas job in town.
I need to find a shoe storage solution. There are so many shoes in this house. DH has 20+pairs - some waiting for a cobbler-wizard - I have 5 (including boots, work shoes and trainers), each kid has a minimum of 5 (wellies do not count). I am sick of seeing shoes. Will put my thinking hat on.
Yesterday I used my £1 c/shop massive stoneware 'wheel' and created a salad buffet. It looked amazing. Sausages were baked and they filled up on bread. Supper was a lasagne, I added red lentils and 1/2 the normal amount of soya mince, and a marg tub of roasted and mashed pumpkin from the freezer. Only DS4 mentioned the lentils, but he had already said he liked it before he noticed them ... Got the pumpkin past all of them though. Unlike the brown lentil and hotdog sausage stew the night before.... DS4 only ate a tiny bit to get to the chocolate sponge and whipped cream creation I had made for pudding. But he did eat some of it!
Freezer is rammed currently. Only really need veg and Chinese cooking wine this week.
Payday is tomorrow. Housekeeping is tomorrow. Expenses are on Tuesday and some more the Tuesday afterward.
I still have £90 in the budget, and £100 emergency cash in the house. The emergency cash is a new idea, started this month. Just in case.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well hello payday! £1,300 earned this month. Very welcome in my coffers. That has filled up the bathroom fund to £10k. Good, about time too.
The bulky items were collected and the living room is a lot clearer. I have only one other person on the house during the day tomorrow, so I can clear and clean to my heart's content.
Found a stash of candles to burn, sometimes a few candles can be the difference between having to put the heating on and not having to put the heating on.
The heating will be set to come on again from tomorrow. Boo! But not during the day!
Wobbly Octogenarian came to volunteer this morning - he really is not well.
All bills go out tomorrow, I will still have a fat wodge of cash left over for once.
I have promised the youngest two a comfy computer chair each. ££s
DH is 50 this week. He wants nothing. Not even a cake 🎂 miserable blighter.
DS2 has agreed to come out clothes shopping, so he has things he is comfortable in, and that he wants to wear. He is practically attached to his dressing gown. It is his favourite thing/place to be... ££s
Went to supermarket and bought a lot of tins, and 5 l sunflower oil. It was £8 for 3 litres in the oil aisle, but £6 for 5 litres in the Diwali aisle. So swapped that back out. Did the shop, used 2 x £4 vouchers, paid by card, came home - no card! Went back to supermarket, no card handed in. Froze card, checked everywhere, ordered new card. Transferred all money, except DDs for bills due out tomorrow, to other current account.
Money is safe.
PB draw tomorrow!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
