Well Hello! I lost 3lbs last week! so 6lbs down in total. Sadly the middle 2 lbs were yo -yo lbs, but now they are gone, and the motivation has stayed to carry on. I have a pineapple in the fruit bowl, and I know how to use it! Need to nip out to Morris0ns for salad bags and olives and anything ys I can find, but that is a job for after the politics.Bet Rishi has been screaming Stop the Votes! Stop the Votes! since Thursday night.I swear those pumpkin have grown overnight, they were very soggy and looking quite sorry for themselves before. The weather forecast is good for today again, actually nearly the whole of next week too, daytimes all over 18 degrees and night time lows between 9 and 12. Going to be strange actually having to water things after the regular drenching we have had for so long. It will no doubt return, but right now I can live with a week of sunshine as I will be walking to work and back, and last week only got properly soggy once. The seeds have still not turned up, by the way. But the 20p ys wilty parsley plant from the supermarket about 2 months ago has gone utterly bonkers, so I have separated out the stems, and it is now colonising 3 large bucket-size tubs. We get through a lot of parsley and mint, now all I have to do is get DH to pick it from outside, rather than buy it from the shop up the road... the mint has gone bonkers too. Also a ys supermarket bargain. In horrible news.........DH must have picked up those nasty little crawly creatures when he passed through Paris last month. That was a horrible discovery when I changed the bedding yesterday, so the spray is bought, and will be delivered tomorrow, the HEPA filters are being delivered this morning, and everywhere is going to get a bl00dy g00d cleaning and hoovering daily. Hopefully it will be confined to my room, where the suitcase lived, and I have found signs, but I have bought enough stuff to do all the beds and bedrooms, because I will be neurotic now. Urgh!!I might make DH strip outside on the doorstep when he comes home and fumigate him before letting him in, and of course then I will be neurotic about him having brought them back with him again. This is a new experience for me. I have not dealt with them before. Hopefully I never will again. Double urgh!!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sorry to hear about the creepy crawlies. DH and his parents had to deal with similar years ago. Heat is the main thing, get the sheets on a 90 degree wash (30 degrees is environmentally friendly but only gives you clean eggs). Rubbing alcohol melts them according to MIL, stick it in a spray bottle and go nuts.
Even now DH tends to get straight in the shower after commuting and keeps his work clothes in the (mostly plastic and ceramic) bathroom rather than put them near bedding/clothing/soft furnishings."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

Everything is going in the wash at 60 and in the tumble dryer afterwards. All bedding will be...... (gulp) ... I.r.o.n.e.d. I have bought 2 cans of killer spray. You do it once, then have to redo it in 14 days. The sheets are going to be washed every week 😭 😭 So hopefully it will all be done and dusted before DH comes home with them again 🥴
So far no sign on the top floor but will spray their mattresses anyway. Better safe than sleeping tight and letting the bedbugs bite.
In other news, the bedroom carpets look lovely 😍

Oh ych a fi to the bedbugs! I cannot abide anything itchy, scratchy or bitey even though I'm a 'kind to all creatures' type of person ..... having four (now grown up kids) and a couple of dogs and cats we've attracted our fair share of parasites and nasties ..... headlice, thread worms and in our first home a gang of cockroaches - I've successfully murdered them all, mwah-ha-ha!4

Enemy bases located, and destroyed. Cover fire on all available alternative locations.DS2 wandered in while I was seeking and destroying and asked what on earth I was doing, so I told him, Oh, those! he said. I think I found one on my bed last week. So his bedroom also came under fire. Did not find anything, but blanket bombed it anyway. The washing machine is going to go on strike at this rate.Apparently a domestic hairdryer is hot enough to heat-kill any eggs. So will try that in-between death spray. Hopefully I was successful in my mission, and hoovering daily will pay dividends. Two cans of spray used on one superking mattress, one double mattress and about 12 pillows.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Work was ridiculous today. I was working for a maximum of 6 minutes every hour. The rest was spent reading my book and updating my lists on my phone. I wandered off to explore the older part of the university, the original bit, and found a courtyard garden with benches and trees, and listened to a blackbird shouting its beak off. It was warm and sunny and the threatened thunderstorms stayed away.Came home and DS1 had made spaghetti and a tomato sauce for everyone. So the kitchen got cleaned, people got fed, and I had a videocall with DH before watching the Eurovision Semi Final part One.No money has been spent yesterday nor today and I aim to keep it that way until Friday. Fingers crossed!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Your work sounds … odd … 🤷♀️😂 I would imagine the time drags a bit, but actually perhaps it is forcing you to rest a little?
Excellent news on DS1 cooking dinner 😊👏

My TBR book pile is shrinking! including today it is 3 more days. It has allowed me to not really notice DH is not here. He, however is not used to the quiet, so we had a lovely long video call last night and we text a couple of times a day. So he is keeping up with the gossip, but at the end of the day, he is alone in a serviced apartment in Switzerland.... alone. He is making friends with the other fellows (or Fellows), and is loving everything about working in the European Tertiary Education Sector - he thinks when he comes back he will be much more aware of how badly they are treated here in relation to in other countries. He is no longer afraid to skip countriesThe next big premium bond win will go on Irish passports. Any job he gets will come with a work entitlement visa.Exciting times.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
