Still 6 of 9 on the pumpkin germination front, resistance is obviously not futile after all .Two top floor bedrooms carpeted yesterday, it took him nearly 3 hours. No idea how, but it did. I made him a coffee and left him to it. All of the four bedrooms on the top floor have carpets now, so the boys decided to complain about the landing and stairs not being done. I *might* have pointed out that if the eldest two had applied for the job I am doing for the next two weeks, we would have an extra £3000 in the family fund for carpets and the new bathroom fund would have enough in it to book someone in to do the job..... but apparently that is not helpful. My living room floor is suddenly the new home for DHs massive suitcase - it is next to the ironing board, he is making himself a waistcoat to go with his new shirts and trousers.I am in limbo financially, I had to claw back £188 from savings for the last invoice for the builder. The 3 extra light fittings, one extra socket, and two extractor fan holes in the bathroom. Payday is not until Tuesday. Up until that invoice pinged over, I was doing really well, still had £100 in the budget for the next three days, had just signed DS4 up to the gym and paid the first month's bill, and then ka-pow! Oh well, it is done now. Onwards!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I’m drowning in germinating pumpkins too. Might be their year? 🤷♀️😉

Week one of work done. Minimum 17,000 steps everyday.DS4 cooked on Monday night, DS3 cooked on Tuesday, DS 1 cooked on Wednesday, DS2 failed to step up on Thursday so I cooked, DS1 cooked a curry tonight, so I bought samosa from the nice cheap samosa shop on the way home. The samosa were the first thing I have had to buy since Sunday.Breakfasts have been sub 200 calories, I have raided the fruit bowl and taken diet shake powder in a water bottle and filled it with cold water from the water dispenser at lunch time. So hopefully I have lost some weight, and with all the stairs I have climbed and descended, I should be a little more toned if nothing else! Water bottle was refilled every 2 hours. 2 whole books read during my breaks.Filled in paperwork and life admin forms when I got home, and then did the washing up. Apart from that, nothing got done, except the laundry was washed and dried - not folded, ironed, or put away, just cleaned! How on earth do working people do if all? I cant fit it all in.So this weekend the house will get a bl00dy good clean, and the food will be shopped.DH is having a good time in Swissland, he is meeting people and networking, but is missing me loads (he does not do well on his own). Absence makes the heart grow fonder.... or was that absinthe? anyway, I have a list written of all the things I have yet to do, and a three day weekend to be doing it in, so will try and steam on through the list as best I can.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

It’s hard working full time and ‘doing stuff’ on top. TBH, whenever we have a big DIY project and Mr KK is busy, all of the housework stuff falls to me whereas normally we would share to some degree. However, that’s a really productive week around work. Well done 😊 and I am glad sons (mostly) stepped up to help with the cooking. Did they enjoy it?

Did they enjoy it? Well it took time away from their computer game playing, and they really found it more difficult than they thought it was going to be- cooking times and all that. Now they want an air fryer because ovens are scary.Got up, had coffee and a shake, and went on the shopping circuit - Heron/Tesco/Lidl, then went to a charity shop as a reward for my patience. Came out, did Sains/F00ds of the Frozen Farm and another charity shop - found a HUGE pine mirror for £5.99 so that came home with me as well. It has no fittings, but I have the fittings from the original mirror DH broke, so will rig that up and put it on the wall where it is supposed to be.Had to come home as it is lunchtime, so popped to the shop where DS2s new laptop was residing - DPD reckoned they tried to deliver it, DS2 said he was camped in the living room the entire time and they never came near the place, let alone knocking on the door or ringing the bell.I think I have lost one of my dangley Bristol blue glass earrings on the way home from work last night. Boo!Okay, going to feed the smallests lunch, and then probably head into the yard to plant up a couple of tubs with rescue plants. I am sure this weather was not forecast, but it is brilliant sunshine and feels in the 20s!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Ovens are scary?! 😂😂 Oh my days … I’ve only just started using an air fyer and I found that scary (to start with … 😉).Awesome news about the mirror 👍🎉🥳 I remember when the previous one broke and how upset you were because it created exactly the effect you wanted and you only got c. 3 days to enjoy it or some such. It goes on the stairs or a landing somewhere …? 🤔
Aww sucks about the earring. Gutting when that happens. I assume it would be difficult to find a replacement?I have done much gardening today and am beetroot red! Partly through being physically warm but also from UV and wind exposure! 😉

The washing machine just gifted me my earring back! Well, when I emptied it and gave the wheel a spin to make sure no adventurous sock was making a bid for freedom, it made a horrible grating noise, so peeled back the seal expecting coins, or pen innards, or a fork ( only once) and there it was. Slightly misshapen due to metal on glass at 1000rpm for who knows how long! But it returned to me, so £40 saved.
Whilst rummaging about in planters, and removing the layer of sawdust the builders left on top of them, I have found another couple of fuchsia and Dianthus that have overwintered under other plants. Free plants!
I have used over 160 litres of compost today, and I still have things to plant out. I am down to 3 pumpkin as some slimy ratbag ate through the stems of the other 3. Not impressed.
DH is alive and well. Hooray!

Awww, you got your earring back ❤️😊👏 That must have been bizarre finding it in the washing machine when you thought you’d lost it last night … Presumably it got caught up in a piece of clothing?I use copper rings to prevent slimy interlopers getting to delicate and key plants. They are quite pricey but last for decades! 😊 I tend to have them on my end of year wish list every year 😉 Yaay for the ‘free’ plants 🌱 Is it warm enough to be planting out pumpkins? I’d be waiting until the end of the month myself to avoid last frost risk, but maybe my elevation is higher (200 foot or so)?

I bought copper tape to stop the slugs, but I haven't used it yet so can't say how effective it is.... I've only had it about 3 years, so that tells you how much gardening has been done. Hoping for better this year, as just had new shed and fencing done.... all I need now is a gardener!
