When we had our roof done they put the scaffolding up on a Sunday. Fingers crossed that it happens for you today.

I sympathise with your frustrations with DS1 & 2, do you charge them rent? utilities? board?

Yes, I am now charging them rent, but they have access to their savings that they got for their 18th + their government child bond.

    Blimey. Lucky DS1 😂
I thought there was a qualifying date.
Would it work to ask them for a contribution to household expenses? That might spur them to do something.

Do they have a work coach if receiving benefits - I know I did and she was awful and made my life hell.  She made me look for more hours even though I had enough in the job I was in as well as being a full time single mum.  If I wasn't going to look for work or get more hours my benefits would be cut until I did.  Maybe DS's need a work coach to bully them into working.

Fingers crossed the scaffolders turn up soon

It was very MSE  - 3 packets of 8 shakes for £2.99 in raspberry&vanilla,  and 3 packs of 8 shakes in mint choc for £4.99 ...... instead of £10 a packet.
I don't mind them really, and they do fill you up so I don't think about food at all til lunchtime, and for lunch with a piece of fruit they keep you full until about 4pm, but by then your brain is screaming for hobnobs and chocolate, so as long as I have planned what I am eating at night, and it is quick, then it is doable.
DH is making lunch today (he is down to 13.2 - he has  lost 12lbs in the last 2 months) so I will have a shake for supper and see whether I can get down to the 'only 2 stone to go!' goal in the first week of  November.
You have to have a plan to work to.

I hope you are going to ask for an extra contribution from your DS1 as he's getting extra to his normal benefits.  He doesn't have extras to pay for like people with families who probably really need the COL money!

It must get very frustrating having 2 DSs who are refusing to look for work.

Sadly his jobcoach is a drippy chocolate teapot who hates her job.  No use whatsoever.
It is 5.59 and there is no sniff of scaffolding outside.  Sent an email at 4pm to roofer - just in case they were expecting it to be here on Monday morning.  Not sure if the scaffolders are shonky, or the roofers, probably both with my luck!

I had several job coaches so maybe the next one will be a bit more forceful.  The worst one obviously hung around the longest

Mr Builder sent a text today to let me know his scaffold will arrive 'end of next week' and he will start 'after that' , and if his roofer had been in touch - nope, not since July, not once, never.  Also asked about building control, so sent a quick text to Mr Architect who has to apply for it and was told to apply for it 3 weeks ago.  Will find out on Monday no doubt.
No news from Mr Roofer, or his innovative invisible scaffolders.
Wonder if Mr  Builder and Mr Roofer share Mr Scaffolder and he is getting very confused being told two start dates for the same address  ...  that would be the only thing that would make sense to me.. Surely nobody could run a business this badly?
