happy anniversary to you both
That sounds like a bargaineous meal.
It makes sense to me to feel sad at selling the house from the perspective that it was your grandfather's, even if he died many years ago. It was still a link to him. Condolences on your friend, anniversaries are hard and especially when they were so young.
Good luck with all the selling
love Deni

The living room is much tidier today, but there is a pile of stuff to photograph and sell. Not got on with that yet, but will do.So far, letter written to Rates people, with accompanying death cert and mitigating circumstances form filled out (being dead is a pretty good reason not to have to pay rates I feel) so that should save us £860.EE mobile dd cancelledBT account settled.Using the new-to-us stereo from s/g's to listen to CDs again!!Shelf of boardgames now super tidy, and has an extra 3 decks of playing cards in courtesy of s/g.Bathroom well stocked with barely ever used towels also from s/g's house.Bathroom well stocked with a million bottles of shower gel (the woman had a problem!)Bathroom well stocked with 4ndrexBlue badge parking whatnot sent backLots of small cardboard boxes and packing peanuts unearthed and ready in case I sell any of this tat.Photo frames now have pictures of us in them, and are on the bookshelves.Photo was taken of all my boys at the Indian restaurant yesterday, should be a good one in there somewhere.Did I mention I had cuttings of camellias from s/g's garden? Well I do, lots of people wanted cuttings and I have just found out this morning that cinnamon powder is a rooting compound - who flippin knew?? So I will not be buying any hormone rooting powder, I will be raiding the pantry - apparently honey works too - it is all antibacterial, so it stops it from going manky and rotting. Plus it isn't full of nasties like the hormone rooting powder. Hoorah! Bet I can still kill it thoughMade a new appointment to give blood, I had to cancel last one as I was in Ireland, so going Wed instead. So there.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

NUMBERS!!So the tally continues, the mortgage was £75,551.26 when I got up this morning, which means:a monthly interest charge of £111.81which is a daily interest charge of £3.72 (getting closer to 'the price of a cup of coffee' territory)So I jumped on in and made an overpayment of £551,27to bring me down to a current mortgage debt of £74,999.99In other news I went to Herr L's Supermarket after dropping those pesky kids off at school, scored 2 lovely F&V boxes - I have 2 x pomegranates, 2x leeks, 4x carrots, 12x spuds, 14x red and white onions, 3x tomatoes, a pineapple, 2x spring onions, 2x red peppers, an aubergine, 11x apples, 12x little oranges,2x bananas, 4x big lovely lemons and a grapefruit. All for £3.00 My fruit bowl is stacked, I only needed to buy a head of broccoli, a cucumber, and a lettuce. 3x breakfast cereal, 8x milk, washing powder, 2 x butter and 3x yoghurt all for £20.I am starting to get 'your dd has not been paid' letters redirected to my address - so will just deal with each of them as they occur. At least it means that the accounts have finally been frozen - the bereavement website notifies the banks, but unless you rock up and show the death cert (that you have already scanned in online) and fill out the forms again, whilst standing on one leg and singing the company song, they do not get a stop put on them.Anyway, things are starting to move.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well done on getting the mortgage below £75k
Excellent haul in the 2 F&V boxesFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Don't forget you also need to do the actions to Agadoo as well f0xholes.
I empathise with what you mean about the house. My grandparents house isn't too far away and I'd love to takeca drive just to see it, but I'm also terrified if I do it would ruin the memories I have of it - grandma died over 30yrs ago, and grandad 6yrs before that.
Well done on the F&V haul.
I've never had any joy at growing things from cuttings. Hope yours are a success.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Woman permanently on the verge of a panic attack!!!But anyway...... what did you do today F0xh0les? Well, thank you for asking!I got the kids to school on time, I sat in a traffic jam on the way back while some poor soul got loaded into the back of an ambulance - think he was hit by a car - was late to my blood donation appointment, then got turned down as my blood was 124 wotsits per doo-hick instead of 125, 125 is perfectly acceptable, 124 is not. Annoyed much? oh yeah!! one stupid percentage of a micro-milligram. Got a 3 month ban. Boo!Came home and did s/g filing, cos it is stressing me out, then got a phone call to pick DS2 up as he had not asked to be picked up, so I had not gone to get him. Got attitude. Bof!Continued the filing, got it all sorted and put away, then opened my email to find email from solicitor saying £175 an hour please, and sign here. I have to as you have to have a permanent address in NI to do probate in NI and if you don't, you have to have a solicitor. Hence, getting out the filing again, giving names, mobile numbers, ref numbers for all s/g's bank accounts and people I have been dealing with. Also the Estate Agents, plus mobile numbers and emails etc. There is nothing I can do about paying for their time when in court, but there is no excuse for a big bill from dealing with her financials. I have done it already.Signed the ransom demand (they have my inheritance, I have to pay them to get it - sounds like a ransom to me) and posted it before last collection inside the P.O. It should get there tomorrow. I made them weigh it. Used free stamps. Then got a phone call from E. A. s/g's house is up on the interweb! and they decided to try Offers Around £225k, put it online, had 6 people booked in to view within an hour. All looking good. They are viewing on Monday, racked and stacked.I suppose I will have to pay capital gains tax or somesuch won't I? Don't have to pay inheritance tax anyway.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

From Gov Uk website.
probate-estate/managing-and-selling-assets
Selling shares or property
If you sell shares, investments or property that belong to the estate you may have to pay Capital Gains Tax on them if either:
- they’ve gone up in value since the person died
- they’ve gone up in value since being valued for Inheritance Tax
You do not pay Capital Gains Tax from the estate if you transfer assets directly to a beneficiary, for example property.
So it appears that if value does not increase then not
Hope that helps.

I don't think capital gains applies unless you changed the house into your own name. By the way if you use a solicitor in this country for England probate you still land up doing all the work yourself.

Just had a nosy. It looks lovely, no wonder it has already had enquiries
