Pleased you are able to take a little time at home. Hope the clearance and sale isn't too onerous - is their an indication on when Probate will be granted? Not sure if there's still covid delays or indeed what is needed in Ireland

As it is not a big estate, and under the bracket for something-or-other, the solicitor said to put the house on the market now, and probate should be over before we complete - they said it will take a minimum of 12 weeks to sell a house completely over there.I am taking my car over for the last week in April, filling it with what I want to keep, the rest of the furniture will go to habitat 4humanity when the house sells. All the furniture is now empty. The brother suggested we pay to call in a clearance place and let them empty it - I am not letting him do that. He would have it all in a skip and burnt. I will give my time and do it proper. I found a bunch of photos of the siblings as kids, and birth certs and marriage certs, so sent those off to them. They have no family to leave them to. None of them had kids. It is all a bit sad really.I can say that cardboard coffins are lovely. I put s/g in one. I got a few odd looks from the granny-mafia when I told them, but they all said they would never have known if I hadn't told them, and they wanted one as well

Sorry to hear about step-gran but it sounds like she ultimately had a good ending. Hopefully the house gets sold quickly and the number of trips you need to make won't expand.

and so to the more normal theme of NUMBERS!!! for April, although a little later than usual.O/p £556.52 to bring ye olde mortgage down to £75,999.99monthly interest was £116.87daily interest was £3.77 - getting close to £3.75, hopefully in May.Might not have a mortgage by the end of the year, which would save over £11k in (non)interest payments, and only cost about £2k to redeem.... watch this space. You are all lovely, you know that don't you??4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sorry to hear step gran has died, sounds as positive as it could be though and I'm sure you were glad to have had some time with her. Please be kind to yourself though, I found house clearing to be very onerous and emotionally exhausting.5

I am sorry to hear about Step Gran's passing but thankfully it was painless for her.
I am unsurprised to hear you have a plan in place and are going for it at full pelt.
Please remember to look after yourself both physically and mentally.

Agree that cardboard coffins ate great - and you can get some very funky designs on them, too - I arranged them for my mil, my uncle and my nan.
