Knackered due to house fire on neighbouring road, and at 4am my bedroom was like a strobing disco.  Hope they are all ok, and that they have insurance.
There are so many forgotten expenses when buying a bed.  The mattress and the frame, fair enough, but then bigger sheets, /mattress protector/duvet/cover, so deliberately spent under £30 so that I did not get free delivery, then the next day delivery option was only £1 more expensive than standard delivery , but still £3.95 cheaper than free delivery + next day delivery.  Anyway, by bedtime tomorrow I will have a mattress, a bed frame, a mattress protector, and  2 sets of sheets.  The rest  (bigger duvet, duvet cover, valance) can come later.
Ahh yes, all the 'extras' you need - it's like getting a pet (well sort of, except the bed won't die if you don't feed it) How are mattress protectors so expensive - I just 'treated' us to a new one (as the prev one that came with our mattress was shedding) and it was £50. Ouch!

The mattress protector is so expensive because if you get a single mark on the mattress & there is a problem with it they won't put it right.  A form of insurance I suppose.
I literally had no idea about this - then again I've never considered having any issues with my mattress (bar OH taking up half of it  :D
