Happy October!! I have some numbers for you.
The mortgage after added interest was £81,059.37Monthly interest of £119.91 which means .....Daily interest of £3.99 . . . . . SUB £4 a day!!!!! which was the December target. Yay, I am early. Get me.After my overpayment the mortgage is now £80,900 - well on track for sub £80k by December. In fact it will be sub £80k in 30 days.So if anyone hears a 'toot toot' today, that is me, following you around, and blowing my own trumpet, as I am going to own a whole half of my house in 30 short days. Or 2/3rds of what it would cost to buy on the market now. Also, Tilly Tidied all my accounts and set my budgets, and now the renovations account is sitting at £19,500 which is a new roof, 2 skylights, gutters and soffits, 12 solar panels, a 5.8kw battery, the roof space boarded out, - possibly x 2, and a bathroom refit - DH would provide the other half the ££ for the bathroom refit.I think my aim to is blow the lot by Xmas and restart on filling it up again in the New Year when it is cold and horrid and soups and stews are socially acceptable again.Happy Friday!!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have had one response from roofer #2, and that was to say they are not doing re-roofs at the current time. Helpful.DS1 came up for DH's birthday, he was very unwell, coughing, shaking, sweating, so dosed him up on lemon powders and popped him into bed after a rather spectacular saag aloo - he was not going to eat, but I made him, then he got up at 6am as his dreams were scaring him, so dosed him up all day, pumped him full of vitC, and fruit and veg, he managed to stay awake for about 90 minutes at a time before falling asleep where he sat. He seemed much much better this morning after a good night's sleep. We put him back on the coach this afternoon and it felt like leaving a cat at a cattery. He only has a sore throat now, his cough is loads better, and he has eaten more F&V in 2 days than he has in the last two weeks. He did say he could stay for a few more days and do his work online, but I honestly think it is better for him to go back before he gets too comfortable being back at home. He did make me laugh though, after lunch today, he looked at me and said 'you make this look so easy'. It is all practise. So our plans to go visit him for his birthday/half term have been scuppered by mil descending, as expected she is meeting up with relations from all over the place congregating in London and is demanding DS1 attend. But now I have found out from one of the people she is meeting up with, that she has still not yet booked any tickets!!After abandoning poor DS1 to his own devices at the coach stop, I stripped all the top floor beds, and remade them, and did 3 loads of laundry, line dried 2.5 of them, made a lasagne, and fretted. He is back home now in his flat and planning on a hot shower, a lemon-flavoured-paracetamol-based-hot-drink (TM) and an early night.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

The message from the Tory Conference was chilling yesterday - Social Care should begin at home, not with the state. Considering Carers Allowance is deducted from any Universal Credit you are entitled to, if you are not able to work due to caring responsibilities, and you are in effect doing it for free if you are on U/C whilst at the same time being told to get out and get a job and stop being lazy, and now B0z is saying they are not afraid to make unpopular decisions. How much more unpopular can he want to be? Anyone with a relative using carers should be worried. What surprises will B0z throw out there in his speech today? Good Grief!!On the plus side, Fishy Rishi's budget is in 3 weeks.....

So I wonder what is going to happen to the extra NI then, wasn't that supposed to be to fund care. So far though it looks like the extra money for the NHS has gone on paying yet more new managers over £250,000 a year. The rest has probably gone into more of "those people's" pockets like all the covid stuff. Comes under the heading of they must be lying because their lips are moving!

Let's face it, when they say "social care begins at home" what they mean is "let women do it". It's not going to be men giving up their careers and an income to care for elderly parents or children with SEN.
Healthcare begins at home too apparantly, so presumably we'll be going back to the medival period and having babies at home surrounded by women from the neighbourhood and a midwife with no formal training?
As always with this shower - cost of everything and the value of nothing. And the value that they think women provide for this country is exactly that - nothing."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

DS4 has lost his branded embroidered PE hoody already. Sometime last Tuesday. There is no lost property yet. Nearly £20 to replace.DS1 has been lying in his bed feeling awful all week, he says, so yesterday I posted him a care package, hot drinks powders, throat sweets, throat spray that numbs, fisherman's friends, paracetamol, some licorice, a bar of hazelnut chocolate, and a bar of white chocolate with almonds. Over £20!! but I did get free postage as I used a box that came through the door with unfranked stamps on and stuck a new label over the address. Off it went, I also reuse un-franked stamps on my postcard competition entries. Morally dubious, I know.I have spent the morning trying to put together a menu plan for when the in-laws come - nothing spicy, no broccoli or cauliflower, no wheat/oats/citrus/alcohol or green peppers. Nothing too high fibre. Also nothing hard, but no rice pudding as that is nursery food and grown ups do not eat it - ice cream is very acceptable though, not childish at all. Oh, and F-i-L will not eat soup. It is not manly.Aiming to find 13 main meals - breakfast they can scrabble around and fix themselves, if she can bring her own pillows, she can bring her own rice and quinoa flake porridge glue. FiL can have a carb fest while he is here.Good haul found in Her0n yesterday - The Collective Plant yoghurt pots (with passion fruit) for 59p instead of £2.20 (just picked up the whole tray), and Vi0life shredded mozzarella for £1 instead of £2.50, and Anch0r salted plant butter for 69p instead of £1.90. Good savings on things that are lovely, and the butter will make a big difference to the budget - Hooray for the freezer! II will keep a running total of how many times they bemoan the fact DS1 is not here.In other news, my phone met a watery end. Rice could not rescue it. DH has bought me a 2nd hand new one for £80 with his millions of Big River Vouchers, and my £5 of them I made from surveys this week. Turns out my phone manufacturer went bust in Feb 2018, so I suppose a sub £100 phone did well to last over 3 and a half years. Can't really complain.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

carrot, corn and courgette fritter/bhaji type meal this weekend with chickpea flour - gram flour in Indian cooking is the same as garbanzo flour in middle eastern/ Italian cooking. Which makes it g/f. It is the only way to make 2 of my kids eat courgette. They love it as an Indian crispy fried ball with a plate of salad, mango chutney, and a coconut raita.
This sounds delicious, do you have a recipe for the fritters? I am GF as well so ..
Glad to hear you nearly at that 50/50 mark it must feel amazingDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
