The knobs are for the cardboard drawers that I made for the kallax units and DH refuses to use as 'they cant be pulled' (yes they can!!!) and the upholstery studs are to keep some teal velvet in place on a footstool. Although I could probably make some kind of nobbly pierced dress if that does not work out.

DS2 does not deserve your birthday wishes, I have already got an email from the college about 'concerns' about the quality and quantity of his work. That and he has to be asked to take his folder out of his bag and take notes. Surely that is down to the teacher in the classroom?? ''Come on now, books out and take notes chaps! Let's begin''.I am not having another 2 years of emails and phone calls like with DS1. Is it normal to contact someone's mum because a 17 year old does not have his folder open in front of them at the start of a lesson? This is A Levels!!! Whatever happened to 'Get ready to learn, or Get Out!!??'. God forbid anyone upsets the little darling, much better to ask someone not in the room to make sure he puts his pen on the table. A 6th form college near me, which has a pass rate of 98% for A levels, chucked a load of kids out after the first year because they weren't achieving the 'required' levels. This after getting hardly any tuition! The mind bobbles..... Guess that's one way they keep up their 98% pass rate.
Maybe the College DS2 is at isn't prepared to extend any energy either... put the onus on the parents and then when they're kicked out they can say that you were informed about the problems through the year?I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.

It is a 6th form college, attached to the school, he is not a stranger to them. They gave him the grades at GCSE and allowed him to do them at A level. They cannot now complain that he does not know what they have not taught him, or that he ' looks like he might not be listening'. Surely a well placed question or quiz would sort that one out??I can see them throwing a lot of the kids out - your 98% school sounds like one we have here, called Beauchamp - pronounced Beecham - much to DHs disgust - he is certain I am taking the pi$$ half the time, he was transplanted, so the vagaries of English place name pronunciation is lost on him completely, he just rolls his eyes and says 'of course it is said like that!' and goes off muttering.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!
