Have you heard from ds1 at all?
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3 -
Absolutely! DS4 is texting him every night, we had nearly an hour on the phone on Monday night, and he is keeping us updated on the trials and tribulations of being an adult - he made a disappointing curry and wanted to know what he did wrong, he has been given a tip off that there is a sourdough doughnut shop that does a rhubarb vegan one (flippin' hipsters!), and he wants to track that down. He refused to watch GBBO with us last night cos he was gaming. He is utterly disappointed that a pot of hummus only lasts 36 hours, and that his fridge does not magically refill without any effort from himself, unlike my magic one.
. He is on the hunt for a pot plant to be his room mate.
Freshers week is this week, so he is going to trawl for clubs and societies to join. He has done his library induction!!!Lots of the evening events involve alcohol though, which he has no interest in whatsover, so is not bothering with - so around 8pm is a good time for him to call and text with us all.He is missing cake and puddings desperately. Which is odd, as he is doing his own shopping and has a decent size Arseda nearby. So fledgling #1 is surviving!! Thank you for asking.DH has barely slept last night as well, and is having to keep up with his afternoon naps.

I don't drink either and never bothered with it at university.
Apart from missing out on SU nights, which I don't really feel like I was "missing out" on anything, I generally joined in with many other things. Societies in particular are good for activities, they don't all involve getting !!!!!! and vomiting in a gutter at 2am, especially since they often have quite a diverse membership."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

He is going to a 'Paint a saucer for your plant' event later on, and has an induction lecture for his course this morning. So he is up and fed before 10am, which must be a heck of a shock to his system
and we will celebrate his' first week of keeping himself alive' on Saturday.
People keep asking if I am sad he has gone, or do I miss him - but to be honest I am thrilled and excited for him. Then you get funny looks like you are some kind of psychopath kicking your baby bird out of the nest and flying off to Rio on a bender.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Now, I know I have posted a piece of spy-ware to our Northern Scottish Island Correspondent, but today I get a message and a smiley face from a Bath/Glos/Bristol/Taunton area postcode .... I wonder if a Turtle is involved.......I do wonder when I post something that is going to an area I know a NST lives in. We do get about a bit and it really is a small world out there.Just got an email from the school to tell me DS3 can have a vaxx on 1st October, but DS4 can't as he won't be 12 until December. Which is frankly ridiculous. Jab anyone who agrees to have one, as far as I am concerned - Scottish schools have over 32,000 kids off with covid this week, more than 3,500 up on last week. Apparently it is a total coincidence and nothing to do with schools going back. Hopeless!!!Annoyingly DS2 can't have one as he is over 16 and so will have to take himself off to a walk in centre, which involves effort, and he is loving the 'edginess' of having refused to get out of the car and get a jab when I took him - he says he will do it himself, not when I tell him to. Isn't it nice to have an opinion?? Twit.I have just paid my cc bill, the day it came in the post, instead of waiting until payday at the end of the month. So that is one thing not to have to worry about - not often I can afford to do it the day it comes in, but it was just a smidge over £100 - it was all back to school shoes, and trainers, and the teabags for the rest of the year. So now I am a little bit short (£10) for the next week, but if I do a couple of surveys, then I will be back on track.Just got a FakeB00k notification someone I work with is in Greece. For them the pandemic is over.Just seen Anne Robinson on C0untdown - she looks and sounds like a Skeksis. Mind you, she is 76.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We all would love a magic filling fridge... I guess give it 10 years and we could have an auto order via amazon and a robot could stack it in the appropriate places.. someone would still have to pay for it mind you.
Glad he having fun, I loved my uni days
My niece in a (private) girls class of 10 and 5 of them are off with covid so my sister who cant be vaxxed is rather concerned .. I got vaxxed asap.
I chatted with a friend of mine yesterday who works in the civil service and he said they all waiting to see the stats as everyone is back at school and covid is running rife and all the European vacations. its hard to predict if we all going back to WFH if possible....DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I totally get being pleased for your son, especially as the last 18 months they have been so restricted.
It would have made so much sense if the COVID vaccination had been approved by school year not age, but obviously the government didn't want to make things easy for anyone.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I suspect they have to wait until aged 12 because of the Gillick thing, which gives them the right to say yes or no regardless of their parents opinions.

They will not vaccinate any kid who says no. The email was so we could give consent, but then they will ask the kid when it is his turn, and if he agrees, then they will jab him. Otherwise it is assault. Totally get it, the kid has to have input, but just to decide that if you are 12 on the date they are coming into school then you can be jabbed, but if you are not 12 until 2 days later, you will have to wait until 2022 when they come back again on rota, or if you are not 12 until June or July then it will be Year 8 before you can get one - and by that time they will be doing it at the same time as the Flu vaccine, so it will be later on in the year again. Definitely it would have been more sensible to just say Secondary School age kids can have it.
