Cripes my feet hurt!  Walked in to my volunteering role this evening, only 2.2 miles but it took me 40 minutes!!  and the same back again, but it was HOT! and I have a blister on the side of my foot now. Grrr. anyway, just over 6.5 miles walked today so I hit my step target.  Going to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, and don't mess with Mr in between.   Oops. seem to be channeling Bing Crosby and it is not even the 'C' word.

Came home, had a huge slice of snowball melon, and a big bowl of 0 fat 0 sugar yoghurt.

I am going to come in under 13 stones at the earliest possible opportunity - I had a lunch of chilli and rice and salad, and a breakfast of an Alpr0 coconut milk and banana smoothie.   So had more than my 5 a day, and after lunch had a peanut butter magnum knockoff.

Did a bit of skipping, might do some more later.

Might be able to squish a frog-job tomorrow.  Watch this space.

Frog duly squished!  DS4 has been whinging and whining about having a double bed, and how much he hates it, so I have bought him a single pine bed  ( c/s £25) he wants painting white, and his bed will be coming down to DS2 who sounds like he is torturing mice every time he rolls over in his very pretty but noisy metal bed.  So DS2 will gain a solid wood non-mousey bed, DS4 will get what he thinks he wants, and everyone will be happy as I got him a new mattress for his bed, and DS1 a new mattress for his bed, and DS2 inherits DS4s mattress which is practically brand new anyway.  And hopefully all the complaints will stop. 

Luckily there was a 60% off sale on the mattresses in a box, and very good reviews, so fingers crossed peace and love will reign in Foxholes Towers for a little while. If they are really good, I will get one for us as well, as my mattress is now over 10 years old and needs replacing.

In unrelated news, the Action Short Of Strike (ASOS) has begun, and so they are taking 1/3 of DH's monthly salary until they go back to doing the 'and any other requirements asked of them' part of their job descriptions.  Hopefully it will only be one month, but still, it is over £1k missing from the budget - but that is what the EF is for.

Himself has been contacted by a publisher who wants him to write a book for them.

Himself has been contacted to be an 'expert witness' on a radio programme.

Himself has been contacted to submit a report to the House of Lords on a bit of legislation they are debating.

So he keeps on pinching himself that finally people are coming to him, and asking him to talk about the things that rock his world.   Yay!

Blimey today I am melting.  It is too hot to be outside. It is too hot to be inside. DS4 is being a total toad.

Diary has been managed,laundry has been folded,  and I am going to spend the rest of the day reading a book and trying not to notice the heat.

I did nearly buy a bottle of something nice on the way home to celebrate, but as we are dieting, and he was gaming online with his mates 10 minutes after I came home, I resisted.

Did you escape the hailstones the other day?

Did not get any rain at all!  5 miles down the road,  it was smashed windscreens and snowballs.

It gets to about 5pm, and the light changes, and the air gets that smell like it is about to chuck it down, and has done every evening for the whole week, but then it goes, so obv it is passing over us, and raining elsewhere. Not rained here at all in about two weeks, and that was only a 5 min tropical downpour.  Not had a decent rain session for about a month.  Luckily i have a paddling pool I am raiding for plant watering water.   Will give the plants a seaweed feed later on. They are loving this heat.

Busy watching the women's rowing on the 601  freeview channel - pushing the red button does nothing, the red button channel however, is fab. The 0lympics will provide background noise for the next fortnight.  I wonder how many people sit on their rowing machines in front of the screen and fantasize.  If I had a rowing machine, I know I would!

Another one watching the rowing! Also as background noise/entertainment.

(Much better than the men's footie where they fall over and roll around in dramatic agony so frequently it gets boring, unlike the women's football where they help each other up and check they're ok after big tackles or a ricocheted ball in the face.)

I measured the kids this morning, both smallest 2 have grown two inches since April.

Glad DS4 has started to grow again, he has stayed at the same height since December, but this month he has decided to be a weed.

DS4 enjoyed his time on R4, got nice social media comments, and is spending today writing reports for various social engagement projects he is involved with.  He was supposed to go away this weekend to an event with his mates, but it all got covid-cancelled so he has 4 days off now ......... to work - it seems......Oh well! 

Today I plan to clean and tidy the top floor in readiness for new mattresses and furniture humping up and down the stairs on Tuesday. Tomorrow is tidying the middle floor and bathrooms. Sunday is the turn of the ground floor. It is too damn hot to be doing too much in one go. This way I might even get ahead of myself.

In-laws have said (pinch of salt needed) that they have booked and are coming over in the October half term holidays - now, whether that is the Irish half term, the English half term, or the City or LeShire half term hols, nobody knows.

Where they are planning on going, and when, nobody knows - we are probably a half way stop-off.

They have the hump as DH told them to stay where they were safe and that they would have to isolate after coming back from UK if they did come. They have decided they are old enough to understand the risk and do what they like, as they have been double jabbed and can please themselves now.

So they have booked  flights to visit Swissland, and her favorite sibling down at the end of the country in Cornishland .  They will insist on driving  down on the motorways over here which are bigger and busier than anything they have over there.   He is not used to it, and was frightened last time he did it 2 years ago. Plus he is 2 years older. 

If she ends up killing his dad, dh will never forgive her. If FiL  ends up killing  his wife, he will not be able to live with himself.

Eeee! Other people's families eh? 

Lunch will be burgers, supper might well be baked potatoes. 

Not standing in a hot kitchen for any more time than is, absolutely strictly necessary today.
