All I hear about from people here, is where they have booked to go away on holiday. I am flabbergasted.I can't even go to the South of Ireland without having to isolate for a minimum of 5 days ( if already double vaxxed) and do 2 (luckily free) tests on day 2 and day 5.- which means the UK is not even on Ireland's green list - I am not sure Ireland even has a green list. So while the govt here is saying you can go to Ireland, you actually can't - you can only go to the North of it. - Can you tell I have been 'got at' on the phone from both the North and the South this week? The guilt has been troweled on heavily. It has been two whole years since they have seen us. However, if we went and the kids gave them Covid and killed one of them, we would really never hear the end of it.DS4 is at his transition day at Big School today. Really hope he enjoys it. One week of school left to go.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Transition day went well. He is now happy to go, and has signed up to a free 2 week summer school of activities and sports.2 more morning school runs to go...... one after school Leavers' Picnic organised by the parents -the school are doing nothing.Just made another £6 off p/a. Earmarked for ice cream - I have 2 big pineapples that need eating and I will cook them so they do not go to waste.Did the energy meter readings - am in credit with them again now (£30) so Aug/Sept/Oct will build up a buffer against it happening again, unless they decide to refund me the excess again.
. Then drop the dd again
then get huffy when I use the energy and they have to raise the dd again - why can they not understand I use the heating in the winter/spring, and do not in the summer/autumn? It is hardly a surprise!
Stripped all the beds (DS1 & 2 were given their sheets and covers to do themselves) and remade, and now I am laundering everything. So we will come back to fresh(ish) bedding. Can't be faffed right now to hoover. Maybe after lunch.DH is in meetings all day today - discussions on when to return to the building, and changes relating to that. So far this week he has been headhunted for something - which he is very excited about-, submitted a report to a govt committee, got a request from a publishing house to write a book, was asked to pitch for a research grant, and made a lovely Iraqi rice and aubergine casserole thing for supper. Ok, so 2 kids picked every slice of aubergine out and only ate the spiced rice and potato bits, but still, it was another new recipe tried -nobody dropped to the floor, nobody ended up in A&E - technically a success then.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I would count that as a success 😀Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family7 -
Cashed out another £5.07 from p/a - bought a crate of 8 soya milk, 2 loaves of bread (ys 20p) and a bag of oven chips for £5.70 on the way back from dropping DS3&4 at school - today is the last day of primary school.Went on a picnic last night with the class (and the mums +1 dad). Sat out on the grass in the park, the kids ran around and were just dead nice. So that is that then. No more standing outside school gates, now it is a The Sweeney style pick up and drop off ram-raiding mission
. Much less gossip in my life now!
The next round of free walking tours of the city and environs open tomorrow for booking - it is called Walk Leicester , but it is a nationwide initiative to get people walking, so there is probably something like it near you if you live in a city, you book a free place, it is usually around a 90 minute walk, there is a walk leader/tour guide, and they tell you interesting facts about wherever you are going, so you can do it with your mates later and look dead cleverLocal history and smugness all in one. As I am going to be holidaying at home again this year, and who knows how long we will remain here. I might as well cram in the knowledge.
Got emails yesterday to book the 'return to school' covid test at the end of August. But Whitby first. That is the main and probably only holiday of the year. I am planning on loads of walking, and abandoning everyone else if necessary.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I'm on holiday!!!!!Today is finishing off the odds and sods in the fridge day - (not)chicken sweet and sour for lunch with millions of peppers and a ripe pineapple, supper is either a (not)chicken burger or a sos roll and the rest of the salad bits and a home made coleslaw and 2 sweet potatoes.Since I went to bed last night they have managed to decimate an entire toastie loaf. After that lot, the fridge will be 95% empty, I have a loaf in the freezer and a slab of butter in there, and many tins of beans in the pantry, so first meal home is sorted. It is going to be spendy, but I am ok with that. Still have £45 left of the food budget for this week, so have a food budget of around £250 and hoping to come in well under that, but it is there just in case.Going to hoover the house, do all the laundry, get the kids to pack their rucksacks, and generally chill out today. Nothing worse than coming home to a massive pile of clean laundry to fold and a floor covered in crumbs to be hoovered up.Been there done that! Will bake scones and muffins and a chocolate cake to take with us so we can picnic on the first day (will pick up samosas on the way out of town) and not have to bother until evening time (which will be football mad anyway) and we can probably get away with chips on the beach.I have made a list of the things I need to do when I come back, and have just parked everything on there until we return.Let Operation Puffin Strangler commence.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Have a wonderful holiday @f0xh0les. Chips on the beach sounds fab.
Meant to ask, are your two youngest twins if that is the end of the waiting at the gate school run / gossip?
Channelled my inner baker last night with some Saint Mary of Berry blueberry breakfast muffins (bit like a cross between a scone and a muffin. Muffin texture but not as sweet). Made 6...there is one left...there are 2 of us 🙈 Saying that, St Mary did say best eaten warm 😁Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
